This was my first gamer laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes, you are right... This WAS my first gamer laptop. I bought this ROG GA502DU 1 year and 3 months ago at Best Buy. The first 6 months, it worked... not great, but worked. Then I started having some troubles with the drivers (from ASUS). Even resetting Windows (clean installation) I had a lot of problems making them recognize the hardware, but with a little patience, I could make it works. ARMOURY CRATES and MyAsus are simply awful and completely useless, but you need to have them in order to make the laptop works. It is not just me saying this, several people are complaining against ASUS. I did not care too much, even with all those problems, I could bear with it, but, a week ago (1 year and 3 months after I bought it), it burned up watching youtube videos. Suddenly the fans started to kick very fast, and 3 seconds later, before I could have reacted, It shot down for good. In the beginning, I thought the laptop had had a malfunction and it had had to shut down itself preventing be burned... but no it never turned on again... I opened it and tried unplugging the battery, RAM and SSD but nothing happened, neither the LEDs turned on ever again, it just died. I chatted with Asus people and they told me that I was out of guaranty. I am pretty sure the motherboard is burned and I saw the replacement of it cost almost the same as the brand new model. That was the first time I spend more than $1,000 buying a laptop and also is the first time one of them burn up. I needed this laptop to work for at least 3 or 4 years and it will do, but as a brick to hold the door. This is my first and for sure my last Asus. They have terrible support and products.

Not bad not good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop for Mechwarrior 5 and it lags during game play. One thing to do is change the option to use the video card not automatic. It loads fast. The price was the selling point.

Fan ran fast and it shut down A LOT.
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I returned for repairs after owning 6 months. The fan ran on high even when internal temperature was within normal range. Computer shut down repeatly. I sent it in for repairs. The motherboard was replaced and returned to me. Took about a month. Fan was still on high and shuting down. Internal temps were still within safe operating range. Covid-19 hit so no way to send back again. Finally I hired someone to fix it. Software issue was the whole problem.

Posted .Dear Katie,
Certainly, we understand your disappointment with the unit and our service center. What you've experienced was not intentional or representative of our brand. The global outbreak of the coronavirus has caused the delay in the availability of replacement parts from our suppliers at the moment. Have used for over 2 months
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Has hiccups that started after the 14 day trial period and they wouldn’t allow the return. It’s still usable, it’s just a nuisance. Save the cash and go up 2 more levels in quality.

Fast, fast, fast
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the fastest computer I have ever owned. And I have owned a bunch. I was hesitant with the AMD processors from past experience, but this is a new beast. I tried editing audio, mixing audio, cutting and editing video, all with multiple tracks, and no hiccups and the processor never went above 40%. Extremely response. Fast loading on both programs and restarts. Ten, I hit the gaming, and turned everything UP! I'm not sure I've ever been able to do that on a laptop without a drastic framerate drop. Not here. I turned up the performance setting and off we went! My testers were Spec ops: The Line, GTA V, and of course, Crysis :-) Another great feature was the speakers. I normally use headphones, but the spatial sound and bass on board is surprisingly good! Nice sweeping and all. The battery is decent, better than I expect for a gaming laptop, but I always chalk that up to a loss. The graphics card fan did kick up a few times, but the heat dissipation was great. No wrist fires while playing. Thin and durable design, it's not the typical terrible bulky design I'm used to. If you didn't tel me what was under the hood, I'd never know. Love this system, and would recommend it to anyone. AMD has stepped it up and Asus makes a solid machine.

Unable to do VR because of bad engineering
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does a decent amount right but the biggest problems is the lack of easy to replace battery for long term owners and graphics card hardware that prevents it from being used for virtual reality equipment. The fact that I can't use this system for basic VR equipment software that easily meet the system requirements is a big problem for me. This now giving me pause on future Asus hardware since this is the second time I've had to dive deep into obscure sites and resources to figure out issues with their hardware where it was not functioning properly with hardware that should normally work with their products. The fact I have had to learn this the hard way and expensively. The fact I now have to conduct further research on ASUS products in the future for any potential hardware abnormal hardware incompatibilities means I will be very hesitant to make purchases of their products and tell other people to avoid their products unless they know what exactly they are after.
