    Unbelievable performance!

I don't know very much about laptops or gaming laptops or computers so I cannot use fancy words to describe why it is great, but I do know it runs extremely fast, doesn't get too hot, can do an insane amount of tasks at once, has remarkable battery life, easy step-by-step instructions to set it up and ready to use, excellent security, and all the things looked for when searching for a laptop. I recommend this device to everybody. It is well worth the price and overall very satisfying. I have zero complaints.

    Fantastic laptop for the pricepoint

This laptop has a good combination of performance and power for the price. The Ryzen CPU and the Nvidia graphics make a powerful combination without the additional expense of several other options in the same line. The included SSD is a bit small and does not perform as well as some other NVME drives on the market, but is easily upgradeable. If you are looking for a good all around laptop for both apps and gaming, this laptop is very hard to beat for the price.

Great specs but some annoying noise

This is a great computer, light and a sober design. Haven't tested to the limits, but it has a noise, i guess it is when the ssd drive is working, or something else, but it can be annoying.

Purchased on Sunday 5/6. A local Best Buy had one in stock for some reason. I have been looking at this laptop for a while. Setup: Clean and easy. Not a bunch of bloatware. There is some ASUS tools but I am using them. Performance: Have run a few basic games on it, nothing stressful. I got up to 76c processor and 74c GPU. I am running in balanced mode. The fan noise to me is minimal. I did turn it to MAX cool setting while playing and you can definitely hear the fans but they are not so loud that you would need headphones. Display & Ports: The LCD looks great. I have plugged in a 4K external over HDMI and it is working fine using the onboard GPU. I have used USB and Bluetooth so far with no problem. Keyboard: Probably the only downside to me but I use an external keyboard most of the time anyways. The key stroke is VERY shallow and the keys are flat with no home key nubs (F&J) and shallow indentation like I have had on full keyboards and some laptops in the past.

This is my first laptop after years of building my own computers, and I must say that this system delivers on my expectations without any of the concerns that kept me from owning a laptop sooner. I haven't noticed any particular bloatware installed. Performance of the hardware seems to be satisfactory too. All in all, exemplary device!

Super nice laptop for the price. though if your gonna use it on your lap while gaming grab a cooling pad. willirunit.com has me running 90% of all games at atleast recommended levels. only like 3 they say it wont run at all. im running forza 7, new modernwarfare, battlefield 5 all at recommended levels. to be honest though on the cinimatic scenes in fm7 there has been the occasional skip. overall great buy for someone just getting into pc gaming or someone on the go who doesnt need super high performance.

A bargain if you find an open box one

Got this laptop open box in excellent condition (even though it said satisfactory condition). It's been a great laptop so far, plenty of power, (glad to see dual channel mem). If there's anything to complain about it would be that the headphone jack is apparently faulty, tried everything in the book to see if it really was the laptop and not the headphones but it seems to be the laptop, but with wireless everything these days it's really not a problem. aslo great battery life.

    Might take a few tries

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Had some quality control issues with the first two of these that I tried. The first one had blue screens (may have been driver related) and buzzing fans (like they were hitting something internal) and the second had serious frame rate drops when the system was under a significant load. Third time was a charm, apparently. The fans get a little buzzy when the laptop is not level, but the temperatures running Metro: Exodus were 84 C for the CPU and 79 C for the GPU after a half hour or so of gaming at ultra resolution. Buttery smooth frame rate that really takes advantage of the 120hz screen. Pros: Max Q 1660 ti allows for reasonable temps in a slim package. Laptop is slim and reasonably light. Thin bezels and understated looks for a gaming laptop (lightly glowing logo on the back being the only real giveaway there. Low-wattage Ryzen 7 processor ample enough for gaming. Second NVMe slot. Cons: Screen a bit dull and dim for a gaming rig. No RGB (adjustable brightness on white LEDs is nice though). 8 of the 16gb of memory is soldered in. Larger capacity SSD would be nice given that you can't add a cheaper 2.5in SSD (no slot). No number pad.

Overall solid laptop for school & gaming

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

So far I have had this laptop (obtained for ~$970 after tax) for less than 24 hours. In that time frame I've noticed a few things about this laptop. #1: it has slightly annoying coil whine. This could be just my laptop but other reviews online have said the same about it so it may be a common issue. #2: the overall feel of the keyboard and where your palms rest is fantastic. The keyboard is not mechanical (which shouldn't be surprising,) however, it still has a nice touch. It is smooth and slick where your palms rest, it shouldn't be a problem if you have dry skin. #3: You can only bend the screen so far back. It goes slightly past 90 degrees. This shouldn't be a problem but if you need that flexibility, here is your warning. #4: Screen brightness is average, its not the greatest but unless you're extremely picky about that sort of thing, it won't affect you. #5: Multi-tasking is what'd you expect. it is fast and smooth. #6: 120hz screen is lovely. It is SOOO much smoother than a 60hz and it is well worth your investment imo. 512 GB SSD should be enough to hold everything a student needs and some games as well.

    Video Editing on the go

I tend to travel and get booked as an onsite editor often, so I cant always have my Workstation with me. I was looking for a laptop with great bang for your buck and this was it. A solid CPU paired with a discreet graphics card makes it a no brainer especially along side its great battery life. if there was one issue I had it would be its screen brightness and color reproduction.

Coming from a 2014 yoga 2 pro to this sexy beast is a difference maker. I love the slim design, and the 1660 Ti is not a slouch. Still leaving the heavy lifting to my desktop, but for some portable power, and mild stream editing. This here does the job this fine!

It is A great laptop for light gaming and absolutely wonderful as a school computer. The only downside is that the fans do not do the best for cooling under stress and the fans came covered from factory. So I had to take it apart and literally cut the fans open to “breath”. Other than that it has been perfect.

This laptop has an extremely impressive catalogue of equipment considering the price especially. The 1660-Ti being better than the 1060, and having a 120 HZ display rate is amazing. Every part of this laptop is fantastic and I couldn't recommend it more, very satisfied this will be my computer for the technology field.

This one is an OK unit and I can play games on max graphics settings without any lag or stutter or visual artifact, but on any game its about as loud as a hairdryer on the low setting. There is no exaggeration - I have to turn up the game volume just to hear it. Fans do a great job keeping the system cool, but they can be loud. I wish the storage was bigger than just 512GB.

I bought this on a bit of a whim so I can't say much but I think this is great for the price that I had gotten it for and I don't have much complains outside of the fact that the speakers do sound a bit off but nothing earphones can't fix as I use these more often anyways. I haven't had it for long but so far I have no issues with this product.

    Promising Specs, disappointing optimization

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I'll get straight to the point: The Ryzen 7 3750H does bottleneck when rendering, with a 35%-50% reduction in frames rendered versus its frame rate. This is a bit disappointing and could suggest an issue with optimization. The 1660 Ti Max-Q GPU is similar to a 1070 Max-Q in performance, it has enough raw performance for medium-High quality 1080p gaming (CPU will bottleneck performance). For a midrange thin and light gaming laptop, it's decent with its 120Hz refresh rate, 8 hour battery life (I've managed 8.5-9 hours a couple of times), and overall performance. Performance is where this laptop sees initial success when it's operating at factory default, save some GPU driver updates. I was slightly disappointed by the CPU's performance, I should've seen performance at least rivaling my Core i5 7300HQ in render and frame rate. It surpassed the latter and was nearly half the former. The GPU was less disappointing, it performed as expected. However, once I ran Windows 10 updates from August and later (on versions 1809 and/or 1903), I'd experience serious CPU stutter. My CPU would throttle down to 399 MHz and my frame rate would tank down to 4-30fps from 60-200fps (range varies depending on application and resolution). I'd experience hard stuttering randomly and often, thermals wouldn't be an issue as the CPU would be around 60-75C, well within operating range. Geek Squad factory reset the laptop, save a BIOS update, and returned the laptop. Again, at pure stock this laptop performed as it should. Geek Squad recommended keeping everything up-to-date: from the BIOS to the GPU and chipset drivers, as well as Windows updates. I had made them aware that this was literally what got me into trouble in the first place. Well, I decided to take their advice and update everything I conceivably could. The moment I updated Windows (my antivirus software and games won't allow me to postpone such updates), I got the same issues again. No troubleshooting in the world will resolve this, I've already taken every measure I could down to disconnecting the battery to reset the BIOS. I tested after every update to weed out the issue, and narrowed it down to Windows updates. My local Best Buy assured me I would get full credit for the laptop if this problem persisted after Geek Squad made their repair and recommendation. Unfortunately, I'm going to take them up on that offer. This laptop checked a lot of boxes, such as a Ryzen laptop with a good dedicated GPU (1660 Ti, a 2060 laptop GPU is a ripoff for a 5-8% increase in performance), good battery life, a slim form factor, high refresh rate display, and good gaming performance to boot. Poor color accuracy does exist with the display, but I'm fine since I needed this laptop for its mobility with some gaming chops. It's a shame, really, that I'll have to turn this in.

    Thin, Sleek, and Powerful

The Asus Zephyrus lineup offers great performance in a thin, sleek, and classy design that doesn't scream "gamer" but instead manages to look both distinctive and beautiful jn comparison to bulkier and uglier gaming laptops that are typically available on the market. While the Zephyrus lineup has typically been more expensive, the Zephyrus G GA502 is on the lower end of the cost spectrum but still delivers more than adequate performance. I was lucky to pick mine up on sale and for the price I got it at, it's unbeatable. The Zephyrus G is well made, the hinges seem very sturdy and reliable. The screen has minimal flex, the brushed alumnium top attracts fingerprints like crazy but other than that it is very solidly built. The bottom of the laptop is plastic but doesn't seem to be cheap. All around the build quality is excellent. The keyboard has the the typical "gamer" font on it that I generally dislike but I do admit that it matches the overall aesthetic of the laptop. The key presses are a little shallow but that no real concerns with the quality. Performance: The fans can be quite loud under heavy load but under normal use the machine stays relatively cool and quiet. Thermals are actually very excellent considering the slim form factor. The Ryzen 7 CPU performs admirably for all games but falls behind certain Intel Chips when it comes to productivity, overall not a huge problem. The GTX 1660 Ti appears to be a Max-Q design which still puts it above last years 1060 but behind a 1070. It is about 10% less powerful (from what I heard) than a typical GTX 1660 Ti Final Thoughts: A great machine that's a little on the pricy side unless you get it on sale. Keep an eye on this one and wait till it does!
