    So Far So Good

I purchased this laptop a few days ago and I have to say, I'm quite pleased. All basic tasks such as web browsing and such are very smooth and fast. The look of the laptop is also business friendly, unlike other gaming laptops at the same price, even more so since I got it on sale. The graphics card can handle triple A titles very well and above 70 fps on high settings. The screen does lack color accuracy but it isn't too noticeable or a deal breaker. The keyboard is quite nice to type on and the mouse pad is decent.

I replaced an older custom built desktop with this computer; it was easy to setup and go. The keys are very nice and typing is a breeze. I haven't seen any wifi issue, and boy this thing is quick. I wish this was sold around the $900 mark, but it is a great pc even at the price. Planning to add more storage, but 512 is a good starting point.

I think that this laptop is wonderful, the only problem is that there's no camera. It doesn't bother me though because i don't use it. It's also great for the price.

    Almost worth it...

I got this laptop this past weekend for $1049.99, which seemed like a great deal given the specs. After reading at least 20-30 product reviews for this model and other comparable models (Lenovo, Dell, Acer, HP) in the price range of $900-$1200 and debating between 8th gen i5 to i7 and range of GPU 1050-1060, this seemed like something worth trying. I pulled the trigger and hoped for the best given this was my first gaming laptop since 2005 (HUGE changes in laptop specs required to run games today versus when I used to play CS 1.6). Pros: -Solid deal compared to similar products -Good amount of SSD memory, RAM, CPU -After gaming for around 8-10 hours straight (don't judge me lmao), the max temp I saw using Overwatch's specs was 82C which is good considering other models hitting 90+. I averaged 78C consistently -Cool white backlight (don't like red, personally) -Great design, would be easy to bring to professional settings and not be ashamed Cons: -I saw how others noted that it has a dim display; it's true. I couldn't really watch movies/videos or game with anything below the 80% brightness, and even max brightness didn't seem all that bright. Usually, max brightness should be blinding, but this seemed more like 40% brightness on my work laptop (Dell Inspiron 13-7359). For a gaming laptop, which I refuse to use in conjunction with a monitor or additional keyboard, the display needed to be better for me to justify the cost. -Keyboard: the keyboard doesn't have much "give", so it didn't necessarily feel as satisfying as typing on my work pc, and certainly can't compare to a typical mechanical keyboard. While I didn't have problems with the keys not registering, it just didn't feel as "fun" as mechanical keyboards or my work laptop. -Left-click didn't register. I connected the Logitech G903 to the USB, and the left click didn't always register. This wasn't a problem when it came to gaming, but was a problem when I tried to adjust in-game settings or tried to use Chrome. Weird. Couldn't figure it out. Probably has something more to do with the mouse, but I'm a newb so who knows, really. -Didn't recognize my headphones if I didn't plug them in before launching Overwatch. If I plugged in my headphones before launching the game, no problem. Once I launched the game, the jack didn't recognize any input, so the sound still came from the speakers (which are decent) Overall, I'd buy the laptop if you can afford to look past the screen + keyboard + weird audio jack sensor and manage to get this on sale. Even with the sale price, I couldn't justify it for myself, though. Perhaps if it was another $100 off I could, but as a working professional and full-time student, it's still pretty steep for me. However, I'm mostly going to play Overwatch, which seems a lot more justifiable to continue using my XB1 for... Cheers and goodluck on your pc hunt!

I love Asus products and I just got this laptop today and it's amazing so far. I can't believe how thin this laptop is. The only thing I'm upset about is that the keypad isn't RGB or at least I can't make mine to work. I will edit make edits to this post as I use it more.

RUNS AT 100C DO NOT BUY

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

DO NOT BUY. Running even the most basic games, or even Word, the CPU will regularly hit 100C. AMD has no support for this CPU and you cannot use their software to underclock it, which ASUS said would violate the warranty. It has lasted not even 3 years an I need to replace the battery, and simultaneously the power button became disconnected from the motherboard and I had to open it up and tape it back. The vent guards are all broken and the frame around the screen is becoming detached. It runs hot all the time, is loud, barely runs any worthwile games (struggles with Warhammer Total War 2 which is nearly 8 years old) and will fall apart on you. I need to replace the battery after 3 years. The best part is Best Buy and ASUS both say the other will handle warranty repairs and neither do. All the screws on the bottom are different so good luck with that, best buy put them in wrong and now there are dimples from screws everywhere.

Complete set of features at fantastic price

This laptop has all the right features for the price to give a great values. Here are the things I really like about this laptop: -Great design and looks. Doesn't look like a gamer laptop, no stupid flashing/neon lights. Clean and compact lines. Lightweight for a gaming laptop. -No numeric keypad to cramp up the keyboard area. -Good, solid feeling keyboard. -Runs dead quiet while not gaming (set to Slient mode) -Good performance -Outstanding battery life for a gaming laptop -16GB RAM, 512GB SSD -Multitouch, precision trackpad A few minor things that I wish were better, but cannot complain given the price -The screen is more like a TN than "IPS type" whatever that means. Viewing angles could be better. It looks good enough though. -Trackpad is overall good for a windows laptop, but can be a little finicky at times when trying to drag something. Overall, I love this laptop. The next closest thing I found in size and weight was $600-800 more and was only marginally better in performance. The battery life is superior to about any other gaming laptop as well. You won't miss anything buying this laptop and will save lots of money over anything else.

I really am enjoying this laptop! it is great when it comes to portability for a gaming laptop, and although I personally heard discouraging remarks about the screen accuracy/brightness, I find it to be plenty bright for my needs. Fantastic job Asus!

Overall for the price it is excellent, keyboard could be alittle better, and be RGB but for the price to performance, it is simply amazing! Plays rust at 80 fps on max everything, and that is amazing for a laptop, it will get loud during heavy loads, as expected for a laptop, but this laptop is amazing.

Light And Slick...great bang for your buck!

First time Gaming Laptop buyer and back on PC gaming after 10 years. Needed a gaming laptop, withing the budget, lightweight and transportable enough to play AAA games. This is it. Beautiful machine, discrete and all around great performance. I've been playing Assassins Creed Odyssey and it looks great on this baby. Sound is great too (which was a surprise). Let me emphasize how light and thin it is for a gaming laptop, even the power cord is not the big. There's an additional slot for RAM, one for ssd and if you really want you can replace the wireless card (I don't need it since most of the time I will be wireless, the card will not be the bottleneck). There's in an USB-C Slot in there, I heard one can charge through it but I didn't try yet. I would absolutely recommend it.

Works very well, even works for VR games without problems (Oculus rift S) so far really happy with this laptop. It does run a little hot on some games but to be expected. It's not crazy loud at least. So far so good!
