I purchased this when the student deals were happening, for 1030 this was a bargain compared to other similar laptops. It has a rather large battery and with dual m.2 drives, great options for expansion. The only drawback is when the 1660 ti gpu is under load the fans are noisy. That’s the drawback of thin and light gaming laptops.

I was on the hunt for a laptop that could run my favorite game (The Sims 4), Adobe Creative Cloud software, stream using Streamlabs OBS without freezing or crashing, and be able to keep up with my multi-tasking ADHD brain. This is my first ASUS computer, and it is amazing. I'm able to multi-task to my heart's content, run The Sims 4 on Ultra graphics settings with no issues, and Streamlabs runs like a dream. (Well, as well as Streamlabs ever does.) I love the mobility of a laptop, and I'm extremely pleased with the performance of this one. I was hesitant to go to a 15.6" from my previous 17+" laptops, but I barely notice the difference. The backlit keyboard makes it much easier to use in lower light settings. The only downside to this computer that I've found so far is how hot it gets when running games. Fortunately, it immediately starts to cool down as soon as I exit the game. I plan on getting a cooling stand for it, so that will hopefully minimize this issue. Overall, I'm super happy with this laptop, and with Best Buy's excellent customer service, especially during the current health crisis. I originally ordered an open box laptop, and it had a defective battery. (I knew what I was getting into when I opted for the open box instead of brand new.) I took the laptop back to the store using their curbside service on a Saturday, and the replacement was delivered Wednesday afternoon. Keep it up, Best Buy!

There is a lot to like about these ROG machines. Mainly their excellent performance. The high refresh rate screen is nice too. My only complaints are that it feels a bit cheap, but it is cheap, for what it offers, and it can get very loud (fans), but it keeps the temps under control. It's a good laptop overall, but right now Asus is releasing some new models including a new Tuf series laptop, which seem to offer even better specs in a more refined package for around the same price.

So only have had this laptop for about a week now so far very impressed it has handled everything I have thrown at it so far. Runs fortnite everything high setting 60fps no problem, drop the graphic settings down just a tad and your easy hitting above 120fps. Display is pretty decent, pretty beast of a machine for the price. Super easy set up no problems at all was using the computer within 5 minutes of turning it on. Had to update some stuff but that is to be expected. Now to the bad for one thing for the price point this thing really should have came with a build in camera pretty much every other gaming laptop at this price point has one, I was aware of this before purchase but still disappointed. Okay and here is the killer because I want to love this machine so much because it is really good quality. But the GOD AWEFUL FANS they are so loud especially when you put this thing into turbo mode like sheesh its pretty bad. Even my girlfriend is complaining. Honestly considering returning this just because of that. Would have given 5 stars but really though sounds like a jet engine when these things really start cranking and she gets a bit hot as well. Gonna give it another week or so maybe I can get use to it or something but otherwise I will be returning this. Great product asus just needs a little work. Would really appericate hearing back from you guys since this seems to be a common complaint about this unit.

      Dear Kenny,

I'm sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with the fan's performance on your laptop. That is certainly not the kind of experience we want any of our customers to have. Based on your description you may have already completed this step, but if you haven't already please follow the link below to update your BIOS, VGA and chipset drivers. When gaming, are you playing on a hard and flat surface? What kind of temperatures are you seeing when gaming? Leaving the fan profile on "Balanced" will automatically allow the machine to set then RPM for you if acoustics are a concern. Please reach out to me at [email protected] and include case #N200511564 in your email for reference. I'd be happy to help you troubleshoot this issue in more detail.

      Thank you for choosing ASUS!

      Best regards,
      Lane

This thing games like a beast! Very smooth fps. AMAZING build quality. I love how it blends in and doesn't look like a "gaming laptop" xD but it feels sturdy in the hands, performs well, has a good battery, and looks and feels good. Very happy here.

Although it was a little pricy, the computer runs extremely well and games process very fast (Minecraft - 120 FPS; Fortnite - 120 FPS), especially on Turbo or Balanced/Performance mode. The computer runs slow when not plugged in, but you can change the settings so it runs faster. No complaints besides the price!!

The performance and look of the ASUS ROG Zephyrus are great. I wish I could do anything on it for longer than a few minutes without it driving me crazy. My Zephyrus was basically unusable right out of the box. It has a loud, omnipresent coil whine problem that makes it impossible to do just about anything. Some cursory digging online seems to suggest that this is a really common issue with this model, and one that isn't an easy fix. All the same, I tried going through ASUS' support system to see what could be done. I was met with all the usual "turn it off and on again" and "try factory resetting," in spite of my issue being hardware-related. After a while of the same, I gave up and am now in the process of trying to return it through Best Buy. I really do want to like this laptop. I'd probably even be willing to give a different one of the same model a try if I didn't know that so many of them suffer the same issue. It's a small thing, but so definitively ruins the experience. If you're thinking of buying one, be cautious. I hope yours won't whine like mine does.

    Great portable gaming laptop

TLDR: I was looking for something that combined portability and gaming, and this little gem fell in to my lap. Great laptop for portable gaming, runs hot with higher end games/VR but it runs everything very smoothly. Battery life will last me the day, running basic programs. The boot time is wicked fast, and there wasn’t any bloatware. If you want something portable, and can run almost any game, this laptop is for you. The specs I have are the 15.6 inch display, AMD Ryzen 7 3750H, 16gb of RAM, and 512gb of SSD space, with a GEForce GTX 1660 Ti-Max Q graphics processor. Unboxing was uneventful, it comes with a power cord, manual and a few other pieces of documentation. It takes about two to three hours max for a full charge. What I love about this laptop is the full-space keyboard, while it doesn’t have a number pad, I don’t find my self missing it at all. There’s a lot of landscape for the hands to rest on, versus my surface pro. The keyboard is standard white backlighting, which was a tad bit disappointing, but really colorization is for show. It is a little hefty when holding it in your hand by itself, but when in my backpack, I forget it’s there. It has raised legs to keep it off the desk, giving it more room to breathe, and the fans move air like a pro, ASUS has a command center that you can customize several power profiles. One set for low utilization, one for high. The graphics are on point, the laptop runs most of my games (Anthem, Star Trek Online, Elder Scrolls Online) without a hitch, and I even tested the laptop with my mixed reality headset, and am pleased to report, that while those fans ramp up hard, it runs a VR environment without major hiccups. When in lower power mode, it shuts off the GTX processor and runs off AMD’s integrated GPU, which really saves battery life. 16 gb of memory, more than enough to run most games. I will be testing it with Photoshop later on, but seeing how this is primarily for gaming, it is not a priority. The RAM certainly holds up. Storage space, a 512 drive is kind of small, but seeing how I am using it only for gaming, I haven’t run out of space yet. It has your standard power port, a USB-C port, ethernet and HDMI port, as well as a few USB ports. What it doesn’t have: a DVD drive or a webcam. I found the lack of webcam rather peculiar, seeing how the screen bezel on this and my work laptop are about the same, but my work laptop crammed a camera in there, either way, I’m not deducting any thing from the review for that. Overall, this is a pretty solid laptop for the price, and runs everything pretty smooth. I haven’t had any major malfunctions, and it’s great for grab and go gaming.

I'm very impressed with everything about this laptop. It was a necessary upgrade from what I had before which was a low tier laptop from 6 years ago. I'm super impressed with the performance, speed, and snappiness provided by it and the matte screen hardly reflects any light.

I bought this so I could have a gaming computer to play a specific game, because the other computer I had the game on was slow and glitching all the time. The only "problem" is that when I try to play the game with the computer plugged in, it starts to overheat, but when I unplug it, then it's fine! But it works great for what I bought it for, it is very fast when I open the game. Would recommend to people who want a fast gaming laptop!

After tons of research this is by far the best gaming laptop for the price. The 1660ti would play any game at average settings and had not problem and stayed super cool. I used it for both college and gaming and it’s slim design and quiet fans made it so versatile.

This laptop runs great (had it since May) and doesn’t show sign of any wear. It is relatively slim for a gaming laptop and has nice components for the price. Boot up time is decently fast but there are a couple things that should be noted. It does not have the best battery life (which is typical of a gaming laptop) and the fans can get really loud if you run more than one program. Overall it’s a good mid-priced laptop.

Shopping for a well-appointed mid-priced laptop, I found this one at Best Buy. The lighted keyboard does not have a numeric keypad which allows the keyboard not to feel cramped in unit's overall size. The unit does have a 512 GB SSD and 16 GB Ram. As well as an NVIDIA GTX 1660 GeForce graphic board. I have owned ASUS products before. Their "Republic of Gamers" series produces some serious gaming-capable units. I have never owned an AMD-powered laptop; but I figured it was time to give AMD a try; and the Ryzen 7 chip is an impressive place to start. So far, I am pleasantly surprised. The audio system is very good. The unit is graphically impressive. The NVIDIA GTX1660 Ti Max-Q really produces accurate and smooth-flowing screens. I have used this with the "Open Rails" train simulator getting upwards of 130 fps with no strain or stuttering at all. This is a very good unit.

    Great Gaming Laptop

This laptop has a balance of features that are both good and bad. It all depends on what is important to you as an individual. You will always have negative with a positive it seems. This laptop is small, but pretty darn capable. It is bottle-necked by the processor a little bit and that is a shame, but it handles all the modern titles with ease. It has a darker than average screen, but it is 120Hz and 1080p, and the screen still looks good from multiple angles thanks to the IPS feature. It has a small storage drive for the OS, but it is an M.2 Solid State and has an additional slot for more storage using M.2. I have been told the network card is bad, but I am able to get the same speeds off of more expensive NIC cards. Plus, if you want to upgrade the NIC I heard off of YouTube it isn't hard. Just as simple as popping one out and the other in. The laptop updates for a long time when you first boot it up, but if you let it sit for a couple of hours, it should finish pretty quick and painless. I bought ASUS ROG brand 5 years ago and it was nice, but it is clear that ASUS has stepped up their game. There is software on the computer that helps with managing the fan speed and clock speed of the processor and graphics card, as well as software to help automate the process of keeping the machine working and optimized. The only thing that makes me keep from giving it 5 stars is the darker than average monitor, sort of loud fans and the slight bottle-neck of the Ryzen processor. Other than that, it is affordable to most anyone in the gaming market and can run almost any game.
