Excellent laptop for productivity and gaming.

The OLED screen is impressive, the build quality is fantastic, and the 5070TI with the Ryzen AI runs COD Warzone and Battlefield 2042 with ease. I currently use it with a Thunderbolt 4 dock as a desktop replacement.

Disappointing

Full disclosure, I’m coming from an M2 MacBook Air, and I had purchased this because I need it to run AutoCAD (with some x86 Windows-only plugins) for work. It’s not been enjoyable. The battery life is terrible even with the dedicated GPU turned off, there are lots of little bugs that are annoying, and the build quality is not what I would expect for a $2,000+ laptop. (Every time I click the trackpad it creaks, and the button of the laptop is not flush with the rest of the body). I’ve been spoiled with my MacBook, and I expected better. The display is good, but the upgrade to OLED is more minor than I would have expected.

Best Buy Customer Support Scammed Me
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't usually like to review the product poorly when the issue was actually the customer service but I've tried everything else at this point. I ordered an open box version of this laptop in excellent condition last month. It was shipped to me via Fedex. I was late to work for 3 days straight trying to get the package but Fedex never rang my doorbell, and I wasn't allowed to set the delivery to go to a nearby Fedex location. After 3 days of Fedex "trying" to deliver, I was told the package was being sent back to Best Buy. Incredibly frustrated, I contacted BB to see if I can get the item sent back to me again. They say no problem, we'll place an order for a replacement for you. Two hours after I get off the phone with BB, my order is cancelled. I reach out again and am told because it was open box they don't have the item available anymore. I look on the website - they have an open box item in excellent condition listed for $300 more than I originally paid. So I call again. I'm told by the first customer service person that they can discount the item for me to the price that I originally paid (because that would be the right thing to do right) then transferred to a second person to execute the sale who says that there is no way for me to purchase this item for the amount I originally paid. I'm frustrated because this means that one of the two BB reps has lied to me and I've wasted hours on this. The next day my fiancé reaches out to them and is told they can't discount the price but they can issue a refund within 24h after I make the purchase. That works, we make the purchase, no refund comes in. 48h later my fiancé calls again and is told that this isn't a thing Best Buy does and they aren't going to issue a partial refund even though the first rep we spoke to assured us they would. So now we've just been tricked into spending WAY more than we wanted to on a computer because BB said they were going to refund us and then walked it back. This is an actual scam. I can't begin to convey how much time and money we wasted on this situation and how mad I am that Best Buy stole money and at minimum 5 hours of my life on the phone with customer support from me like that. Honestly minor compared to anything else but they also told my fiancé they would send the new laptop with USPS due to our Fedex issue - they did not, they sent it with Fedex agian. DO NOT BUY FROM BEST BUY good lord what a horrible experience this has been.

Absolutely stunning OLED display and top performan

It’s compact but incredibly powerful. Ryzen AI 9 and RTX 5070 Ti handle everything I throw at it. Battery life is decent for the power it packs. One of the best laptops I’ve ever used.

Great little mashine

I went for the larger brother the G16. I got it as an open box. It was graded as excellent condition, however some dumb dumb in a store priced it as damaged. So i got the G16 with a 5080 retailing for $3399 for $1699.

Great Gaming Laptop Upgrade for Me

Disclaimer – This laptop is an upgrade for me, as I have been using the same gaming laptop since 2021. I am also switching because my previous laptop is 17 inches and I wanted to downsize since I am traveling a lot more now. I normally play my action RPG game heavily (at least 6 hours per day after an 8 hour day of work) and either upstairs with a lap desk or at my gaming desk with a gaming monitor. I wanted something that was smaller (since I fly more often now and the 17 inch laptop was taking room and adding more weight) and lighter for my carry on. Also, this is my first time playing on an ASUS, as most of my family members own and use ASUS. First Impression – The laptop is super sleek, thin and very lightweight. I love the design shape but I don’t like the design of the air vents for the fans on the whole bottom of the laptop. Since I play more using my lap desk, I already had a riser for my laptop. The good news, it fits my laptop riser but the bad news, I am scared that it will cover some of the air vents. I played on the ASUS laptop (open) for numerous days and although the laptop got really hot around the screen, my fingers stayed really cool. You can feel air blowing through the keys on the keyboard. You can also feel the air blowing through the vents on the bottom but even on turbo, it is not as loud as my airplane landing previous laptop. When the laptop was closed, it still gets warm in the same areas but I never lost any visual or play time due to the heating. I would also like to add that I had way less game crashes and the visual to my game is ABSOLUTELY stunning. My husband noticed right away that my visuals were so much better as well. Now, I get more of a 3D character instead of the grainy 2D visual. It took me a minute to get used to but that quickly subsided and now I will expect nothing less. The battery life is said to be up to 10 hours for regular usage, however, I am accustomed to using all of my laptops with the power cord, so I never got a true estimate of how long the laptop lasts without the power cord. The sound is incredible. I normally use headphones but now I switch to either or, mostly using the speakers. The sound is immersive and you can even hear a little bass. I used the mic as well on the laptop and although they heard the sound of the game I was playing, they could still hear me very well and clearly. Overall, I am definitely a fan of ASUS now and I would happily recommend this laptop to friends and family.

Great laptop but beware

Mine was working perfectly then one day after turning it on the laptop refused to switch to the dgpu and would only work with igpu unless using mux switch through bios.

Disappointed

Traded in my Surface Laptop Studio for this since Microsoft is currently no longer making Surface devices with GPUs. After reading all the reviews and watching YouTube videos, it seemed like this was the one to go with. Unfortunately, it’s been a disappointing experience. The quality is not anywhere near a Surface device. This Zephyrus looks premium, but looks are deceiving. It actually feels very cheap. There are noticeable bends and gaps on the body- possibly from the screws screwed in to tight during assembly, and possibly from cheap materials. The trackpad is loose and rattles when slightly touching it. It’s very annoying. Apparently this is a know Asus issue that I didn’t catch during my research. Out of the box, it took quite a while to set up. It took a couple of hours to install all the Windows updates that you have to before you can even use the computer. Found out the issue was the WiFi card. It would not hold a stable connection. Luckily Asus had a driver update for it, and that helped a lot, but unfortunately the wifi card is still experiencing connection issues that none of my other devices experience. So if you get one, make sure you set it up directly next to your WiFi node or router. For the most part it runs ok, but randomly it will occasionally freeze up for a few seconds. The screen and the sound have been really nice. But other than that, it hasn’t been worth the price.
