Great little laptop that does everything!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With 10 hrs of battery life, a dedicated graphics card for gaming, a portable form factor, and a great feeling keyboard, I think this is one of the best if not the best laptop I have ever owned. I can do some programming work on this little guy and it'll have no trouble compiling and running the code super fast thanks to the super fast processor. On the other hand, when I want to relax and play some games, the graphics cards turns on automatically for improved performance. I think the only issue I have with this device is the fact that it gets *very* hot. The processor runs at around 90-97 degrees celsius when I'm playing very graphically intense titles. The top of the keyboard gets really hot to the touch, but I'm more worried about the processor burning itself out, I'm not sure if those are normal temperatures. Other than that, I have no complains about this awesome device.

AMAZING VR PERFORMANCE
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop primarily for school, but it caught my eye because of the insane specs it listed. I was worried that those specs were only on paper and wouldn't convert to a quality design and experience, but I was pleasantly surprised! One of the main reasons I chose this laptop were for the 1 TB M.2 SSD and the RTX 2060 Max-Q graphics card. Those two were only available in other brands at a $500+ increase in price. The reason I wanted the graphics card is for virtual reality gaming. I recently got into virtual reality when I purchased an Oculus Quest a few months ago. About a month ago I found out that there was an application that would allow me to stream steam vr wirelessly to my headset and to my amazement it worked beautifully! That was using a full on GTX 1070 on a desktop computer. I wondered if a laptop sized graphics card could handle the same process and so I decided to buy this laptop for that purpose (along with work and school of course). Setting up the laptop was simple and everything about the laptop I am in love with. The keyboard is very responsive, the laptop is the perfect size and it runs my vr games, including Half-Life Alyx beautifully. I am amazed with this laptop every day and can't wait to see how far it can take me since I haven't even attempted to use the Ryzen 9 processor and 16GB RAM to their full potential. The only slight downside was not having a webcam, but I realized that I hardly ever use it anyways and I can always use my phone to handle the camera portion of zoom meetings for me. It actually works better since I can join in with my laptop as well and have the whole screen free. Would recommend to anyone looking to use for virtual reality, or gaming in general on top of every day school and/or work.

A great laptop, but too many compromises
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really love this laptop, but ultimately I'm returning it. This was the only 14" on the market that ticked the majority of my boxes, but the sacrifices it made to tick them was too high. It's stupid, crazy powerful, has a great non-gaming battery life if you take the time to tweak it (10 hours), it's attractive, has a reasonable selection of ports, and has a high-refresh display. So what gives? It gets unbearably, unbelievably hot under load (like, painfully hot to the touch) at the top of the keyboard area next to the status LEDs. The fan/performance control software is inadequate. The exhaust fans get ridiculously loud. There's no HOME, END, PGUP, or PGDOWN keys (not even Fn shortcuts). The keyboard backlight makes most of the keys impossible to read when it's on. Mine has serious backlight bleed in the corners of the display. There's only one SSD slot. One of the 2 RAM slots is soldered. My biggest concern(s) out of these is power/thermal/performance. I wish there was a way to set a thermal threshold and have it ramp down performance when it starts to exceed it while maintaining a maximum fan speed (and no, I don't just mean turning on the "silent" fan profile or setting a manual fan curve). As it stands, when any moderately-demanding program is running it will either kick the fans into overdrive and deafen every other sound in the room, or it will get hot enough to fry an egg (or both). I have serious concerns about the longevity of a device that gets that hot and stays that hot for long periods of time. If you don't, then great, maybe this is the guy for you. It's just not mine.

Fantastic computer that can do it all
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally got this computer for college first. So it had to be thin and light enough to carry around. Second I wanted the biggest bang for my buck. Third, I wanted a laptop that could compete with the next gen consoles coming out soon. I can happily say that this laptop checks all of the boxes. I have used it for over a week now and love the build quality (aside from the absolutely terrible keyboard lighting.) However I did find that you don't need the back lighting unless you are in a completely dark room, then the back lighting was decent. The fans can get pretty loud while gaming but the silent mode is very effective during every day tasks. I don't see the fans being too much of an issue considering most people use headsets when they play games anyways. It is whats expected for such a small frame. It can get pretty hot during gameplay as well, but again not much of an issue because it seems to be cool enough around the keys used for gaming. Overall I really enjoy this product and there is so much more to talk about it but there are plenty of Youtube videos that do it more justice than I can. IMPORTANT: If you have the common black screen issue you can update drivers from the website and that should fix it. There are multiple reddit posts that you can find addressing this issue. I simply updated all of my drivers and that seemed to do the trick for myself.

Almost Perfect
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There’s definitely no other laptop that can compare to the G14. It outperforms laptops that are twice it’s size and price. You don’t have to look hard to find all of the positive reviews the G14 is getting. It really is a top notch machine -9+ hours of battery life -Beautiful, bright, and color accurate 120hz display -Ultra Portable -Amazing Build quality -Top notch Gaming performance -Very active Reddit community for support The only thing that may not sit well with some users is the screen size. You’d be surprised how different a 14” and 15” laptop is. Not an issue for me one bit, but you may want to see a display model before committing.

Great Laptop Overall, Decent For Gaming
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is powerful, light, slim, but has a few minor problems. The back lighting of the keyboard is horrible, but the keyboard in general is nice to type on. The processor and graphics card can handle most games with decent frame rates but the processor does get hot (you can tweak the power settings to solve this problem). The battery life is great, it can handle games, photo, and video editing easily. Get this if you are looking for a laptop that will do everything you throw at it mostly well. Don't get this laptop if you are only interested in gaming as I think there are better options out there.

Simple Powerhouse.
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first high end laptop. Let me start off by saying that. I guess you could consider my previous experience with MacBooks “high end” but I don’t even feel it compares. The screen is great, not as great as my monitor but it runs both screens seamlessly while still saying above 100 FPS in mostly all my games simultaneously on all high settings. Idk how some people get lower frames but mine range from 95 all the way up to 240 pending game. Build quality is phenomenal. It feels great all over and looks very simple yet elegant, but does have a little bit of a gamer edge to it if you like that. I love the alloys used, the color is a little scary as I tend to get my hands dirty and then I end up grabbing it and it smudges, but it cleans easy enough. The keyboard is great, as everyone can read through any review, the backlight isn’t good, but it isn’t detrimental for me. The response and key feel is nice, it feels tactile and it’s quiet which is the opposite of my normal keyboard and that thing is loud. Another gold star! This thing literally runs everything for me smoothly. I run a lot of FPS games and with slight tweeks to settings I easily get 120 frames, and in high demand graphic rpgs I still get more then 60 frames. For schooling and my content creation is works phenomenally. Those are fairly basic for me at this point and easy enough to accomplish, but this thing makes it almost enjoyable to do lmao. Can’t complain at all in basic productivity. Only qualm I have is the temperature. It doesn’t get too bad, but if it’s on your lap and your gaming and can get pretty warm and I haven’t gotten it to anything scary and worrisome even in turbo mode, but I do recommend a decent cooling bad or a lap desk to let it sit up a little bit to get the air flow it needs. With how much they packed into this tiny little bugger, it’s worth giving it a little hand if you plan on gaming for extended periods of time. Oh and the lack of camera but if you need a good camera don’t expect it to come from any laptop. Buying a little 1080 webcam to attach is easy enough, one complaint is the lack of more USB ports but that’s what you get when you buy a laptop. I got a hub attached to it and it works great still. Also, the usb-c to display port may be a complaint of some, but order one from amazon For 10 bucks and your dreams will become a reality. I run an external monitor mouse and keyboard with this, stream and run around the 120 FPS average and my temps barely break 82. Desktop folk will say it’s too hot but it has been working great for me. All in all, if you are looking for an all around, versatile, clean and powerful laptop this is it. For the price it isn’t bad either, coming from a company as reliable as Asus. I’ve gotten a bios update and the fingerprint scanner has been updated and works well, and as I continue to filter in updates it just keeps running better and better and I just keep getting happier and happier. Unless you wanna spend over 2k dollars, I’d choose this over any in that 1k to 1500 price range!

I cant believe the power considering he size.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I do a lot of gaming and video editing. This laptop at 14 inches tears through all of that. It is hard to believe what you get with the 8 cores 16 threads, the 2060 max q in, and the 14" build. The build quality is excellent. the keyboard is excellent. ASUS has definitely fixed the issue with the back lit keyboard. I don't have enough drawbacks to take away a star but I will mention them. The computer does get pretty toasty. There are settings you can mess with to fix that in including keeping the CPU base clock at 3 ghtz. The USB 3 port is not ideally placed if you want to plug in a mouse. Also, there is no webcame. Not of these issues are big enough for me to take away a star. Great Value, Premium feel, incredible performance in a small form factor. This laptop is AMAZING!

Great College Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been incredibly impressed with this laptop. The performance it achieves and the size it offers are mostly unparalleled in the gaming world right now. I have not had a single issue with the Ryzen 9 CPU and the graphics continue to impress. I can run most games with 120 FPS and mid-high graphics with no issues. The keyboard does get pretty warm when running larger games, but it isn’t completely uncomfortable. The backlight on the keys isn’t very even either, but that’s definitely not a deal breaker for me. The battery life allows me to stream videos from my couch or bed for 3-4 hours without needing to be plugged in. Additionally, the fact that it’s so light makes it super convenient to take to class with me. Overall a fantastic product!

The backlighting is the worst i have ever experienced, i need to actually turn it off to see the keys better, the place where you rst your palms gets uncomfortably warm and there is mo webcam of any kind however its it is very fast looks great and is absolutely worth the money even more so if they couod fix the keyboard backlighting.

Light and Powerful
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had this for about a month, so obligatory "I'm in the honeymoon phase" warning. Pros: -even lighter than I expected -totally capable with newer release games -boot-up time is incredibly fast -great image clarity -doesn't look like a "gaming laptop" if you are trying to bring it to a professional environment Cons: -gets HOT when playing demanding games for more than an hour (like, ouch am I hurting my fingers hot...but mitigated with a cooling pad) -colors on battery-only are washed out until changed in settings -fewer USB ports was a bigger issue than I expected -no built-in webcam -the screen has a hard time folding beyond a 90 degree angle if it is on a flat service The pros totally out way the cons for me!

Best in class
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its been a month and its simply great. I am not a gamer, but I wanted a laptop that is light weight, powerful and helps in video editing and occasionally I can game as well. This meets my requirement and hence I decided to go for it. Pros: 1. Lightweight and small 2. Looks professional - no weird RGB, etc 3. Ryzen 9 7nm processor with 2060 maxq 4. Good keyboard 5. 120 Hz refresh rate 6. Has a 'Silent' mode where there is no fan noise Cons: 1. Moonlight model keyboard back light is disappointing. I turn it off usually 2. Fans get loud in turbo mode 3. Armoury Crate application fails and it doesn't show CPU stats. I assume this is a software issue and should be fixed in future

Best Performance Laptop of 2020 easily so far!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off let me say I have bought and returned several amd 4000 series laptops. I also had a bad g14 unit due to bios update. I am in the process of returning it. So if you have a hardware issue out then I would exchange it right away. All that being said this is easily one of the best laptops I have ever had. And I review laptops on my own youtube channel. Nothing is perfect and some corners were cut to reach the specs, build, and size. It can get hot but a bios update helps a lot. So if you expect perfection because it cost xyz then you may be disappointed as this device is rather hyped up. I would have preferred a amd radeon 5600m over the 2060 or at least a rtx2070. What makes this laptop so special is a few things that add up to more than the sum of their parts. I have always wanted a powerful 14" laptop as I feel it is the perfect balance power, size and portability. Most 14" laptops make too many compromises and this is the first I have seen with a 120hz display. The 4900h processor with 35 watt tdp is as powerful as the 4800h with a 45 watt tdp and has a higher single core performance than the 4800h all in a very small chasis. So the processor in this form factor is just awesome. Add to that the 76 watt hour battery and you actually get decent battery life out of a high performance octacore processor!!! AMD has a huge winner in terms of the Ryzen 4000 series cpus. In almost every metric they are superior to anything Intel has on offer now and it is not just clock speed but architecture which provides better ipc and efficiency that Intel cpus can't offer at this time. The screen and speakers on this thing are really good! I think two aspects that are important for me are screen and speakers. This IPS display is really nice with deep blacks and nice colors. Very minimal to non existent backlight bleed as well. The only criticism I have is I would have liked the frame on the inside be magnesium alloy too. The quad speaker set up is excellent. Be sure to activate Dolby and you will be good! Keyboard and mouse are both excellent. First off every gaming notebook I have ever had used a bad or cheap track pad. This laptop has a glass track pad with Windows drivers!! Really love the track pad. The keyboard is really nice. It types with accuracy and ease. I love it. The backlighting sucks during the day. It is fine off during the day and in a dark room it works but per key rgb would have been better as colors would contrast the keys better. That being said the keyboard works well and I think people are being a little too demanding. To get all the features this unit has there had to be some compromises but I think Asus next time should use the same deck but just use black keys with white letters and this would be a non issue. Also some have said the backlight is too low but this is by design. White light that is too bright will be distracting and reflect on the screen. There is no bloatware on this device. Absolutely none except for Asus programs. Very happy about that!! Thank you Asus for not installing Mcaffe or Norton!! Software is as clean as it gets. Also Asus has now included a recovery system on the ssd in a special partition so you can restore your pc as it was the day you bought it. This is much better than just using windows built in recovery which has some severe limitations. I would recommend getting a laptop cooler for gaming as it will greatly improve thermals for very low cost. I have owned expensive gaming laptops with premium designs, cheap gaming laptops, and mid range and this device has the best build quality in terms of rigidity and materials used and cost benefit ratio. In other words for the cost this is the nicest gaming notebook I have ever had all in a 14" fomr factor. I no longer have to compromise between portability and power!!

Outstanding Hardware, Great Thermal Performance
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is, hands down, the best slim and light gaming laptop. Build Quality: Solid Chassis, with minor flex on the screen panel. But that is typical for such a thin device. It looks and feels like a premium product. Keyboard keys are solid and have a great finger feel to them. Battery Life: I got an average of 6 Hours of Battery Life with mixed usage. So it's decent for a gaming laptop. But if you want to have a prolonged gaming session, best to keep it plugged in. Fan Settings: 1. Silent - Almost no sound is distinguishable. The gaming performance is compromised a bit if you use this setting but for normal usage you have more than enough CPU/GPU strength. This is also the most battery efficient setting. 2. Performance - The best all around setting for gaming. It keeps the system nice and cool while not being too loud. But you will notice the sound of the fans. 3. Turbo - This is the setting with the lowest CPU/GPU Temperatures. But it's also the loudest with regards to the fans. Best to use headphones, or a speaker system to mask the fan noise. Thermal Performance: The thermal Performance on this thing is wild. When gaming (ie Battlefront II, Force Unleashed, No Man's Sky) I was getting an average CPU Temp of 60°C - 65°C and GPU Temp of 65°C - 70°C. The highest temperature I have recorded so far was after gaming for 4+ Hours on Max Settings was 71°C for the CPU and 78°C for the GPU. You will notice the QWERTY Row and Upper Vents warm up a bit while gaming so you may benefit from using a seperate keyboard. Asus Software: the Asus Software is a bit overcomplicated and cluttered, but it allows you to change all types of settings. If you don't want to mess with anything just leave it on Auto. But it does give you some extra wiggle room in case you want to push the machine harder. Screen: It is a smooth Panel, although I'm not entirely sure if it's always using the 120hertz. I feel it's closer to 90-100hertz... But regardless it's a smooth panel with almost no distinguishable issues. The color accuracy is also a bit off but you can easily adjust in the settings. It's a 10 second fix. You have 6 presets for color and also a Custom one where you can adjust to your preference. Issues: I only had one issue and it was an error message. It happened a week after the purchase. After doing some research I discovered it was one file that was corrupted when I updated the software. One factory reset was all it took to fix the issue. But, if you get this issue just take it straight to Best Buy. I'm a pretty tech savvy dude so it was an easy fix for me, but if you are not, they can fix it or exchange the device much quicker than using ASUS Tech Support. This was a software issue and not a Hardware Issue... Again this Laptops Build Quality is Solid. Overall: This is the best all around Gaming Laptop. It's Value is unbeatable. Please understand you can find a better machine with more power, a better screen, and better thermal performance. But you will also have to spend $1000-2000 more to get it. If you have that kind of money then just get the biggest baddest Gaming Laptop or just build your own PC. But if you are looking for the best Value, this laptop is it. At this price point it is frankly unbeatable and in the thin and light category, this is it!

Great, small, powerhouse!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would like to start off by addressing some mixed reviews on both temperature and screen flicker. First, as far as temperature is concerned, this laptop runs between 80-85 C under a gaming load. Now, for those of you that do not understand, this is NOT an ultrabook (thin laptop designed for use on any surface). This is a powerhouse gaming laptop crammed into a small, thin casing, which requires proper surface placement (and perhaps a cooling pad) to ensure the best airflow for component cooling. The components in gaming laptops are rated for a maximum temp of about 105 C, which in my experience thus far, this doesn't come close to. If you are looking for something you can set directly on your laptop while gaming, this is not for you, as the intake is on the bottom, and MUST be clear for airflow. Do not expect to get 50-60 C while gaming, like you can on a desktop. These are just UNREALISTIC expectations. Now, as far as the screen flicker issue, I have yet to experience this, however I was also in the 2nd ordering wave for this laptop, and it looks like recently ASUS released some new driver updates on their website for this laptop (release date 5/6 or 5/7 ish). Perhaps this is something people should look into. I have now update all my drivers, including the AMD APU and NVIDIA RTX drivers. I have had zero issues, along with no random fan spin up when I am not gaming. It appears that most people putting negative reviews are in reference to those 2 concerns, which I would say one is due to people not knowing how to properly use this laptop as a 'powerhouse gaming laptop' rather than an every day basic usage laptop. The 2nd issue causes negative reviews, because many people assume it's an issue with their laptop, when in reality, you purchased round one release, which had some driver issues. Both of which are resolvable or avoidable. Now, since I have adequately covered those concerns. I can simply state that I am in LOVE with this machine. Prior to this I had a 17" Asus ROG Strix Scar Edition laptop, which was also awesome, but I wanted to move down in laptop size. I have to say I am not at all disappointed and am amazed at the performance of this laptop, crammed into such a small piece of equipment. As I stated before, I am running between 80-85 C under full gaming load at high settings, between 70-90 fps. I have had no hiccups as far as I have been able to see thus far, but can update my review if something changes. As far as the design is concerned, I was actually happier with it than I thought I would be. In many of the photos it is hard to tell how the laptop is going to feel as far as the finish, as I viewed it as having more of a plastic feel. But, this laptop definitely feels of high quality, as the casing is definitely metal all around, aside from the bezel around the screen. The laptop feels great while I am using it, and the back lighting is not as bad as many people scream about. I really love the convenience of the ROG key to app the Armoury, and the finger print scanner for logging into the PC. Aside from being satisfied with the gaming performance, so far the general usage of this laptop has been great (and quiet). I plan to use this for personal software development as well, and will only post an update to this, if something changes for the negative. To summarize, buy for gaming, but know how to use it properly in order to be satisfied. Come into this knowing it's gaming PC crammed into a small case, meaning it will run normal, warmer, gaming laptop temps. Know that you will need to do some driver updates, and then you can enjoy the usage! I would definitely recommend this to all my gaming friends looking for a laptop, but would make sure they are 100% aware of the kind of computer they are buying! :)

Perfect, but... room for improvement.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's tiny, and light. It does push a lot of air when playing games, but it is the perfect portable gaming laptop. Styling is fantastic! I am colorblind, so the lit keyboard is actually MORE visible to me than the red on black. The screen is crisp and clear. I do wish it had USB-3 plugs that were less in the way of the mouse, but I've purchased L-brackets to compensate. Having two USB-C plugs is kind of cool also. Oh, and don't forget that it has the new WiFi 6!! I really enjoy everything about this laptop. Perfect size for travel, and enough power to keep as a full-time device.

ROG Zephyrus G14
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm reviewing the G14 with 1Tb SSD, Ryzen 9 APU and RTX 2060 with Max-Q. I recently purchased this laptop for a combination of personal and business use. Business-wise, this thing is a beast. Of course it can run Office applications with ease and surf the net without ever bogging down but my biggest concern was with AutoCAD and more demanding applications. 3D rendering in AutoCAD was my test benchmark because it's known for its demanding CPU and GPU nature. This thing is fast... I had no issues whatsoever with CAD and as a matter of fact this runs AutoCAD better than my Xeon/Quadro setup at work. If you want a nice, light business laptop that can last for hours before needing plugged in, this is the laptop for you. Now on to personal use. I like editing images, videos and playing many of the AAA game titles out there and I have to say this laptop is impressive. You won't get the performance you would from a high-end desktop or laptop costing thousands more but for this price you absolutely cannot go wrong. I average well over 60 fps in Assasin's Creed Valhalla in 1080p on high settings on the RTX and can even run most lower end games with the processor graphics. The Ryzen 9 can run Skyrim on ultra settings without flinching. A couple of things to note though. This PC can get hot. There is a registry setting that will allow you to turn off the processor turbo and with that done you will see much better cooling performance with little to no processing hit. Also, ASUS kind of locked this down out of the gate so take time to go through and get a good feel for the settings. If it's not performing as expected for a particular application it could be because a feature is turned off or reduced for the profile you're on. Ghosting, you'll read all kinds of reviews on this 120Hz screen and its response time (`30ms). For a highly trained eye, you may be able to see some ghosting however I personally have no issues at all with the screen. Games look fluid and vibrant. HDR looks great and a few minor color tweaks really makes this screen pop. The battery is amazing and build quality is far better than I expected for this price. Overall, at the time of my purchase you cannot find a better laptop for the money, hands down. If you want a great all around laptop that can virtually do everything and still be as portable as your tablet, you will not be disappointed purchasing this G14.

Asus did an incredible job on this computer. It has incredible battery life for a gaming laptop, perhaps because of the new ryzen CPUs. I tend to get around 8-10 hours depending on what I am doing. One problem that can be solved easily by going to the subreddit, is that it got black screens until I manually upgraded the AMD drivers. The screen is beautiful, but it has one stuck pixel that gets unstuck quite often. It's really finicky, but it doesn't bother me at all, because sometimes these stuck pixels fix on their own and the only way i can see it is if I have a still back background. Even if you are watching a movie with dark lighting, you still can't see it. The only downside of this laptop is the horrible backlighting on the keyboard. It's literally easier to see with the backlight off. It's incredibly uneven and not very bright. They should have gone with a different color because the white keyboard makes it harder to see. It does tend to get really hot when playing games, but any gaming laptop will get hot. Overall, I would still highly recommend this laptop to anyone. It's beautiful and it runs like a dream. This is easily the best thing to come out of CES 2020.

For the price, can’t beat it.

I’m more than thrilled with this laptop as it does all my gaming needs I’ve had so far with all my games running no less than 80 FPS on max settings. My only downfall I would say is it gets super hot. Only use this in a well air conditioned, and good airflow room while gaming, otherwise you’ll quickly see heats above 80C

This thing is a beast for the price

It has a 2060 max-q - don’t expect your 2080 ti FPS, it has a 1080p screen so really, it does more than the job for my gaming needs (satisfactory, TT, Halo and some others) on this when I’m away from my main machine. I spent the first two or three days getting used to it, I had a small sense of buyers remorse only because of well.... pandemic. $ you know - However, this grew on me extremely quickly for my use case and I have since fallen in love with this machine. I would buy it again. What I really use it for: I’m a cyber security engineer. Penetration tests, scripting, compiling stuffs, you name it. The ryzen 9 kills even 3k+ prices laptops pulling 120 watts with a full sized cpu. Stays cool as a cucumber and is extremely snappy. Virtual machines? No problem. Compiling stuff? No problem. This is a small form factor work horse of my dreams. It just lacks decent Linux support, but once that’s done, I’ll be throwing Linux on this bad boy. The keyboard lighting doesn’t bother me, could be brighter or maybe more translucent on the key caps to shine through but if your a decent typer, really it’s no big deal, it looks nice enough. I personally don’t care if it’s lit or not. The keyboard is sweet, fast and a little heavy. Which I love as I’m a heavy typer. I type on blues on my 60% at home and having the tiny extra feedback makes this thing perfect and it’s fast. It’s a 14 inch, and it’s compact enough for me to travel anywhere, anytime, even in my tiny backpack i wear for my motorcycle. As much as you can upgrade RAM, Its dual channel. Expanding beyond 16gb you will only have 16gb of dual channel performance and the rest will operate in single channel. You will loose performance :/ I’ll take a piece off of the quality and value rating off for its lack of RAM expansion and as it’s rigid plastic however, I would not mind paying extra for a full aluminum casing. If they ASUS updated this model with new gear in the upcoming year(s) with a full aluminum casing AND please for the love of whatever you believe is holy, full dual channel 32gb or more SKUs, holy #### i’d get it in a heart beat. No hesitation. For my use case, I need more power, and for the price this thing is a BEAST and satisfies my needs in a small portable form factor. If you not using it for something similar to my use case, by all means this thing will not disappoint. It will more than handle your day to day.
