Customers appreciate the ROG Zephyrus G14's impressive performance, long battery life, and its compact, lightweight design, making it highly portable. Many also praise the build quality and powerful GPU. However, some users express concerns regarding the device's tendency to overheat, the keyboard backlight, and the noticeable fan noise. The lack of a webcam is another frequently cited drawback.

Pros: - Snappy AMD 7nm lithography CPU and decent RTX 2060 GPU. - Thin and light design is perfect for digital nomads. - Perfect screen refresh rate as most users don't need more than the 120 hz. - Decent, white backlit keys. - Easily upgradable - Compelling/aggressive price point for comparable specs. Cons: - Still a 1080p resolution monitor. 1440p/2K would've been nice. - Runs hot unless you disable the berserker mode within the system configuration. - No webcam, an insult to our circumstances.

    "The ONE" to beat...

I'm sure you've already done some reviews on YouTube instead of reading this, but really there is NOTHING in this form factor that will beat this BEAST in this form factor... (not at any price and this is very very well priced) I came from a long history of Macbooks, but using my iPad Pro and the Zephryus G14 is the perfect combo for me... I can play a few games well into the future yet still have the professional side running. cons: - No Thunderbolt 3 - Bit noisy when gaming, but majority will use a headset anyways - 8GB is soldered so running more than 16GB will lose the dual-channel advantage - TERRIBLE back lighting so I pretend it doesn't even have any :) Pros: - AMD Ryzen 9 - NVIDIA RTX 2060 Max Q (Will run all current games buttery smooth with a few tweaks depending on the game) - Weight - Build quality... applause for ASUS... you outdid yourself! I don't care for a webcam nor the speakers (although the built in speakers are the best I've ever heard in a laptop)

Just as a note, I bought the G14 laptop when it was on sale for $1100, and at that price, there was simply no competition for what this laptop offers. I can play most games on this with 100+ FPS depending on settings and they look crisp on the screen. The magnesium body gives it a great feel (compared to plastic) and the size makes it very portable. The only negative is that the fans do get quite loud when on Turbo mode.

I bought this gaming computer because I knew it had the specs to play any game that I wanted to play as well as browse the web, do research, and type papers. I have never had a laptop as powerful as this one. It feels nice quality and sturdy in my hands, and the light-up keys are very enjoyable to type on. It has the best typing experience out of any keyboard I have ever used. I have had it for a few months, and it feels every bit worth the money. I actually enjoy working on it more than I enjoy doing work on my 2018 MacBook Air. I love that it has a fingerprint feature for the power button just like my Mac. The computer can run a little hot. I use it with a cooling pad when I am gaming. It is very easy to check the temperature that the computer is running, and I love that. It browses the web with ease. This is a gaming computer, and from the moment you turn the computer on, you can tell. I have played GTA V, the Sims 4, the Sims 3 with all expansion packs running, the Sims Medieval, Battlefield 1, Need for Speed, Minecraft Java Edition, Minecraft Windows 10 Edition, Vampyr, Cities: Skylines, Detroit: Become Human, and Skyrim without any issues whatsoever. I love how much space the computer has because I can install many games and still have space left for documents. There is one thing that it does that I am not sure why it does it. My Wifi isn't the greatest, so that may be the culprit, but when I connect my Zephyrus to the internet, it causes everything else using internet in the house such as my internet TV to stop working as well as before. I've never had a piece of equipment suck the life out of my internet like this computer does. But other than that, it is a great machine. And I am very pleased with its performance. I will use it for many years to come.

This is not only a beast of a machine. It is a amazing price for what you get. 8 cores 16 threads 16gb of ram and just amazing battery. I have not fully tested how long the battery lasts but I can tell you that it will last long enough for me to do work related stuff before i need to charge it. Also it is amazing that the charging brick is so small compared to all other gaming laptops. My last gaming laptop i had was a Omen 15 with an intel i7-7700k and amd 580 gpu and the battery was so bad i sold it in under a month. It was not portable, heavy af, and loud as f. This is the complete opposite. Powerful, portable, light, sleek, beautiful, and sexy. Cons: The only thing I can think about is the backlit keyboard and camera. But TBH i dont care at all because the good outweighs the bad!

I really like this laptop. Its lightweight, easy to carry, runs very fast, has great battery life, and lets me work and game with ease. The only downside to it that I've noticed so far, is that as others mentioned the back light of the keyboard is not very strong so it makes seeing the keys in different lighting a little hard. Also, screenwise, its not the sharpest display as compared to some other gaming laptops, so that may be an issue for some, but it is decent.

A very powerful portable laptop that runs HOT!

The overall premise of this laptop is being extra powerful with a very portable profile. Short answer it's a great laptop and I recommend it. However, I have a complaint with BestBuy, my unit came with a game promo and the code I received was corrupted and I couldn't redeem the free game. So, far BestBuy didn't issue me a different code. Long answer for the laptop, some of its drawbacks: - One big issue the laptop has is thermals, it runs hot! Even when you just do simple office work!. I have found some helpful fixes to that issue online and on reddit, but it is still considerably hotter than a normal 15.6" laptop. Still okay with tweaks - The fans can't be turned off. So, they will always work no matter what you do, I had to install a 3rd part GUI app to put them on silent. Solves the problem completely. - The chasse design, while everyone is praising the ergo lift with the screen going under the keyboard I find this not to be the optimal design for thermals I would have liked it more if it was a standard back vents, because now my keyboard and screen takes all the hot air. - Not having a webcam - 50% functional finger print - Bad backlighting, it's just useless, and without any lights the laptop still looks great. With all that said, do I think you should buy this? if you main priority is only gaming, which this does very well, I would say just get a 15.6" device with better cooling and fans. If you want ultra portability I think it's well worth the sacrifice. The laptop itself is very powerful, snappy and the material is very good

Pros: Well built portable gaming machine. Can pay Half Life Alyx on low settings quite smoothly. Blends in by not screaming Gamer with its classy design Screen is nice for games and media. Sound is pretty good. Cons: Runs pretty hot, so lap gaming is out. Keyboard backlight is just bad. No camera. Overall: Is you need a powerful portable machine for gaming / creating you're not going to do much better for the price!

Let me first say, I got this as an "open box", and then also on sale. It was just under a $1000 total. Also, even though it was an open box item, the computer itself still had all the screen covers and plastic cover stickers on it. It may have been turned on, but it doesn't ever appear to be used. This is a solid laptop. My only complaint that under heavy load; the CPU will run extremely hot (up to 95c) and it can be uncomfortable to use the keyboard. This Ryzen processor can handle those temps, so damage shouldn't be a concern .If you are not needing the extra boost clock out of the CPU, and have no problem with it running at base frequency; you can enable the option to disable the CPU boosting in the power settings. If you do not know how to navigate and configure settings in the registry editor, I highly recommend that you do not do this or enlist someone who does. One other flaw is that of the 16gb ram, 8gb is soldered on the board and only one dim is available for upgrade. But out the box it is running 16gb in dual channel at 3200mhz After doing this the CPU will not boost past 3000mhz. Since this is an 8c/16t CPU for most tasks it will be as if nothing has changed. For the programs that need the extra boosting; this will seriously affect the performance. I haven't seen affect to playing video games. On medium settings: this will consistently run well over 60fps. After disabling the cpu boosting, playing multiple games for well over an hour, I have not seen the CPU go past 73c and the video card will stay around 70c.

Most Practical Gaming Laptop Out There

As if the light weight, small bezel design, and thin profile already didn't make this super practical to own, this laptop even sports a 6-7 hour real battery life per charge, which is insane considering this is a gaming laptop. Every other gaming laptop I have owned prior gets a real-life battery estimate of 1.5-2 hours for comparison. This laptop in addition sports some solid specs like 120hz refresh, ryzen 9 processor, RTX GPU, 1 TB PCIe SSD, and 16GB 3200MHz RAM. Also if you're wondering if the small form factor and numerous features inhibit this laptop from having good speakers then you would be sorely mistaken as these speakers are as loud and well-balanced as traditional desktop computer speakers are. Their sound quality and volume is actually deceivingly high performance for a 14" laptop. That isn't all to say that this is a PERFECT laptop however; there are a few drawbacks. Firstly this laptop has a very, very low GtG pixel color response, for example at certain instances playing games looks hazy enough to inhibit visuals and understanding of what you are looking around at. In addition, this laptop does not have a webcam but this issue is at least easily fixable by purchasing an external USB webcam. The one I have been using is a Kano 1080p flexible webcam (SKU 6441690) and it's only $30. If you can tolerate these two shortcomings then for the clearance price of $1150 you are getting a heck of a laptop for your money that you will be able to use and hold onto for many years.

This is a high quality, well-built laptop that I've owned for about nine months. I was looking for an ultrabook-style laptop that was also capable of high performance. I had it narrowed down to this laptop and a Surface Laptop 3, and this one won out due to having a Ryzen processor, Nvidia GPU, and thus the ability to play games on it (not something I do often, but definitely an added edge over other ultrabooks). The very early model I got has a bit of a weak keyboard backlight, but since I touch type it's rarely been an issue. I just turn the keyboard backlight on or off as needed using the keyboard shortcut. I believe this might be fixed on newer models. That said, the keyboard is really comfortable to type on. I use this laptop for web browsing, games, and personal/freelance coding and development. As an aside, if you install the official Windows Terminal app, and then install the "Windows Subsystem for Linux", you'll have a solid, customizable, command line application running a full-featured Linux distribution/command line within Windows! This is a fantastic laptop at a really competitive price. I look forward to using it for years to come!

This is one of the most well rounded laptops on the market, great battery life, excellent gaming capability. The screen looks fantastic, keyboard has a nice quality feel to it. The speakers are the best I've ever heard in a laptop. The only drawback so far is the terrible backlight, not sure why they couldn't put RGB LEDs, but the white is useless. also this laptop gets pretty hot, it's expected for any gaming laptop so not really not a draw back. Overall I highly recommend this to someone who wants a well rounded laptop, hardcore gamers won't get all the fps but it's perfect for anyone else.

Man this laptop packs a punch. Several weeks into owning the computer and I'm pretty happy about my decision. I bought it primarily to play the new Flight Simulator and run Adobe Creative Suite products (primarily Premiere and After Effects.) It handles all of those really really well. My friends are incredibly impressed that I'm running MSFS2020 at high-ultra graphics off of a laptop. And I can scrub through 4K video in Premiere like a knife through butter. I would highly recommend downloading Ryzen Controller to manage boost packets and CPU temperature as that's how I've been able to keep safe temperatures. Given what they've tried to do in this laptop, it's natural that temps are running close to 90F if higher when I'm in MSFS2020. However, with Ryzen Controller, I'm able to keep temps close to 80 with minimal performance impairment. Yes the fan is loud but when you consider the power in this small package, it's a good sacrifice. Also note that this is not the one with the matrix screen, so buyer beware. My only design/function gripe is the backlit keyboard, as it's pretty weak. But other than that, I'm pretty thrilled at this point.

Absolutely LOVE this laptop. Gaming performance is top notch, especially considering the price and size. It's very, very light for a gaming laptop. Keyboard is great for typing as well. With the right configuration of power settings, it'll even get 7-10hrs on battery when you're not gaming. A far cry from the old days of 15minutes battery life on my first high powered laptop.

With the proper tweaks, this laptop is powerful enough to play AAA titles as well as last almost 10 hours on battery. All this in a package that is light and compact! Yes, the backlight on the keyboard on my May model is not good, but it's definitely not a deal breaker. The keyboard itself is a pleasure to type and game on, the added notch at the bottom of the spacebar is a nice touch. Don't hesitate to purchase!

The amount of value you are getting for this machine is really high but it comes with some significant draw backs if you actually intend to use it as a gaming laptop. The Ryzen 9 does an excellent job making this computer a powerhouse coupled with the 2060, i was able to get above 60+ fps on games like Destiny 2, Final Fantasy XIV on max settings. Games that are newer were unable to hit 60 FPS on max settings consistently. The biggest issue with this laptop is how HOT it gets. It is only a 14' but for extended gaming use, the chasis was too hot to touch. Keeping your hands on the keyboard for "wsad" was just not possible and actually hurt to the touch. The fans are also quite loud as well. While there is a significant jump in the modes, "Silent" "Performance" and "Turbo", the fans make almost too much news to talk over. The wife definitely, threw something at me while playing in turbo with headphones on to get my attention. This could be a great laptop for you, if you are looking to game minimally for maybe a hour at a time or if you intend to use it as a space heater with a second monitor.

Fantastic laptop, super powerful and fast. Lasts a long time for causal use like school work or web browsing and some photoshop and lightroom use. Gaming and extensive editing you’ll want the charger handy but this is expected and I dont consider it a problem. The screen is color accurate enough for me not noticing any issues with photo editing, and the 120hz refresh rate makes the gaming wonderful, which this machine dominates at. Another thing id like to add is the cooling, it cools great and the fans dont get too loud. Theres also a silent mode which helps if you are ever in public and dont want your laptop screaming lol. My favorite thing is the sleek design, the build quality is fantastic and I love that it doesn't SCREAM gaming laptop. The only downside is the backlight on the keyboard, its pretty bad not going to lie, its kind of hard to read the keys at night, however the light can be turned off completely and then you can see it fine. Also I believe asus said they are going to fix this in the later models. Overall this laptop is such a good product for the money, very happy with my purchase and experience with asus so far!

I don't do very many reviews unless the product i am doing a review on is either absolute garbage and it needs to be known that that's the case or, if the product is amazing and it needs to be let known to everyone to purchase it if they are able to and i have to say that this laptop is freaking awesome. Everything about it from the screen resolution to the powerful i9 along with a 2060 max q graphics card will handle all that is thrown at it. I can easily play c.o.d. on high settings ( ray tracing settings off ) and I can hit 120 fps while in 2k resolution on the laptop screen ( not HDMI or video port ) ---> Fun fact to help if our having issues with High temps while playing a++ title games! If you go to your power plan settings and turn amd power slider settings and also the settings for the laptop itself ( switchable dynamics graphics) to battery optimization and not performance then it can help with high temps. do this for all power plans and make sure to click apply after setting them. There is also a reddit thread explaining how u can unlock the " processor power management " option in power plan settings and setting that to optimize battery can help with high temps in laptop also. Thanks asus for an awesome power machine and is set at a decent price with same hardware provided in higher ends which are at a extremely higher price then this laptop.

Great gaming machine. Bought this to replace my MSI Titan Pro. First thing the AMD cpu is rated at 2.3ghz, this is not true. The actual base clock on the CPU is 3ghz. The CPU in this thing is a beast. For the size and power it crushes what Intel has been delivering. Plus AMD does not have the security issues that Intel has had over and over again. The GPU RTX 2060 also is a great pairing. It seems to be able to reach speeds close to what my old GTX 1080 could do. The only thing I think people should know is that when gaming on the go you need the power supply. But that is true of any gaming laptop. In conclusion there is nothing this powerful and in the size out right now, and this one nails. Also the speakers are a little quiet, but that is kinda to be expected.
