Excellent Laptop
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It may seem odd that I purchased this laptop. I'm a professional software developer, and not much of a gamer. Prior to this purchase, I used a base model iMac Pro with an 8 core Intel Xeon processor and an AMD Radeon Pro Vega 56 video card for work. That's a very fast and capable machine, but with the Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 I've nearly matched the iMac Pro's performance in a sleek 3.5 lb laptop with great battery life that'll allow me to not be tethered to my desk day and night coding. For the price, this laptop cannot be beat currently. The build quality is impressive, and you'd need to spend thousands more to match its performance with a MacBook Pro (which would run hotter and louder due to a less efficient Intel processor). It's simple ... if you want a fast laptop, and you can live without 2-in-1/convertible functionality or a built-in webcam, you should get this laptop.

Aesthetically Pleasing and Great Performance!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first thing I can say about this laptop is that it is very aesthetically pleasing. The sleek white and aluminum finish looks VERY nice. The laptop is quite small but that is part of the appeal for this laptop. The size might hamper the ability to expel some of the heat but overall it is still very good on performance. The CPU, RAM, and GPU in this laptop are all great and give me over 100 fps in Call of Duty Warzone on high settings. This is also my daily driver for my schoolwork and programming and is very nice. The keyboard is backlit and is very nice to type on. It is somewhat small and the trackpad leaves a little to be desired, but it is still very good. One thing about this model that I didnt expect though is there is no RGB; all of the LEDs are white. This looks very good but for some reason I thought they would be RGB. Also the screen is quite good but is somewhat small (to be expected on a 14 in laptop). Also the build quality on this device is impeccable. It feels very premium in the hands and on the eyes. Overall, I would say this is a great laptop for the price and will be a great product for someone that would like versatility and mobility for schoolwork, work, and gaming or 3D modeling.

Getting what's advertised
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop does what it's advertised to do. It's a good gaming solution while still being compact and good for work. Decent battery life when doing typical tasks. Looks great too. Only complaint is that the fan can get pretty loud when running some games. But I guess that's to be expected on such a small gaming laptop. Overall a great buy!

Fast for graphic design and video
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this for graphic design (Photoshop, Illustrator, and Rebelle (watercolor). It is very fast with all these apps, especially Rebelle compared to Intel counterparts (ASUS M15 with 10th gen Intel 10750H), mostly due to having 8 cores vs the M15's 6 cores. I'd say subjectively the Rebelle watercolor effects completed about 33% faster on the G14. The G14 fans are also fairly quiet and it's so portable with great battery life. The screen (1080p) is bright and color accurate. There was an issue with the first unit I purchased (Apr 2020 manu date) where the screen would go 100% brightness when an external HDMI device was connected, but apparently that was a manufacturing issue for that particular manufacturing date model. Also the keyboard backlight is a bit uneven but that's not a deal-breaker for me. Battery life of 10 hrs is possible but only by disabling AMD's vari brightness setting and sticking with the AMD Radeon Lite software (as opposed to installing the full Radeon package). By doing this the discrete GPU can go completely to sleep saving battery power. This info can be found on Reddit. Finally, I was able to successfully upgrade to 40GB of DDR4 ram by adding a 32GB 3200mhz sodimm. The bottom 16GB runs in fast dual channel mode. Unfortunately there are 8GB of memory soldered on the motherboard which limits the max amount of dual-channel memory to 16GB.

Great performance in a small package
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this laptop - I bought it based on the reviews in Tom's Hardware, and was not disappointed - great battery life, great performance and lightweight at a great price. Installation and configuration was a breeze! Elegant design - my only complaint is the so-called keyboard backlighting, which is pretty terrible. Small nit on an otherwise awesome powerhouse machine.

Best bang for the buck in a Windows machine right.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There's plenty of reviews on this hardware already that do a much better job than I would. What I will say is I've been watching this item since it was announced at CES and bought it as soon as possible. I'm absolutely not disappointed. I'm not a big gamer but it has plenty of horsepower to get through any current titles. I wanted a laptop that was light enough to take with me to school with enough battery to last the day. Here again this laptop delivers. The aesthetics are sharp and understated enough to not be an embarrassment in a professional environment. Truly the only disappointment was the lack of any webcam. Even a junk webcam is better than no webcam but the rest of the specs made me feel better about having to plug one in occasionally. If your search brought you to this machine I promise you it's the one you really want.

Amazing!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have some pros and cons, but none of the cons are sufficient to ding a star, because this thing is really about the best machine you can get in this price range. Pros: * Lightweight, especially for a gaming laptop * Fast - boots faster than my MacBook Pro * Plays games - I play a fair amount of ESO turned up to Ultra. * Battery life when not gaming * Screen - great brightness, clarity, and settings profiles to switch between "eye care" and "performance" * Can drive two 3440x1440 monitors (1 for gaming and 1 for browser/Netflix/music) - use both the HDMI and a USB-C dock which also includes Mouse/Keyboard/Sound. * When not gaming, there is a silent mode available that is really quiet. During gaming expect jet engine fans... You are gaming on an ultra compact system after all. Cons: * Not 4K - although 1080P is better for battery life and framerate so it's a trade-off. * White backlight on silver keys... * USB-C power isn't enough while gaming, have to use the old fashion power brick - although this isn't necessarily something that is Asus's fault. * Battery Life while gaming * Fingerprint sensor - this is the one true cons... Asus, your included Fingerprint sensor is dismal. Had to retrain a jillion times and it still rejects my fingers.

Great Expereince
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the laptop is a great size, has a great battery and good performance. It does get a little hot when gaming for long periods of time, but that is expected from portable computers. The battery is also great and it has a great charging capability. Heads up! This model does not come with the LED lid lights, so do not be fool the same way I was.

Great Laptop With Few Compromises
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall, this is an excellent laptop that I would recommend to anyone looking for a portable gaming laptop that has a decent battery life. Display: Is fairly bright, around 300 nits, which is sufficient for indoor use. Outdoor use is limited especially in direct sunlight. The colors are accurate, and the thin bezels are a plus Performance: The Ryzen 9 is great, however, thermals can be a little out of hand, with temps gaming in the 90-degree range occasionally touching 100. The fix is to go into the Bios and disable the turbo from kicking in, which is fine since the high base clock rate is plenty fast, and then it games much cooler, and still ultra for most games. Keyboard: Very nice keyboard, the backlight isn't the best, but due to how comfortable the keyboard is, I rarely have to look at the keyboard anyway, so this is okay. Great travel and feel. Trackpad: Also very solid. Would have liked it to be a little bit bigger, but it works well and has a nice click. Battery Life: 6-8 hours normal use light productivity, about 3 hours gaming with a pretty dim display. Which honestly, for a gaming laptop is awesome. Final thoughts, I think Asus did a great job with this laptop, would like to see the CPU run a bit cooler in the future, but I am still very happy!

i am amazed at the performance.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little laptop is amazing, Its thin, light and powerfull. the ryzen 9 8 core 16 thread with the 2060 max q runs my games well and the 120hz screen looks amazing. The battery lasts almost 7 hours on battery saver mode which was great when the power went off for 3 hours and i was able to keep watching my shows. Its a great machine.

Portable gaming laptop - with only 2 compromises!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm torn between 4 and 5 stars, this is probably a 4.5. It's a great laptop, with great battery life, at a great price - but there are some downsides worth knowing about. 1) Although the refresh rate is 120Hz, there is ghosting. It's likely you won't notice this, especially if you're not gaming all the time, but it's something to be aware of. 2) This could have been a great portable developer machine, but it's missing some important keys. There's no Home/End or PageUp/PageDown - and there's no mapping for those even when holding down the Fn key. I have a workable solution to this using AutoHotkey, but I think this is a pretty major oversight by Asus - and I didn't see mentioned in any of the reviews I read. That's it. Everything else I have to say about this laptop is positive! I like the size, the keyboard itself is nice (other than the above issue), it's fast, has a battery that lasts over 8 hours (if you're not playing games or have the brightness all the way up!), and has a decent mobile GPU. It definitely should be on your list of considerations if CPU speed, portability, and battery life are your main priorities IMO.

Highly recommended machine
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this machine, incredibly fast and powerful but in a very small package. Grabbed it on discount which is good as new modesl are around the corner (and will certainly be priced high) It drives games surprisingly well. Display colors are enjoyable on the screen, once you disable this setting in the AMD Radeon drivers that make it a bit blurry looking under the guise of power saving. It's great at being a laptop, and a light one at that - which most gaming machines can't claim In addition i find it surprisingly comfortable to game on given its size. Even most alienwares i've owned have left me dissapointed and uncomfortable when gaming on them, this one pulls it off despite the size. Asus did a great job here and this is a machine i see myself sticking with for a few years as a travel companion to my gaming desktop. Thanks guys - i've got your motherboard on my desktop too so fully ROG'd here.

Good Laptop with a compact form factor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this laptop despite seeing negative reviews claiming Intel to be the best for gaming. I am not a gamer and hence finally i made my decision to go past all that reviews and wanted to try my first AMD laptop. Primarily my requirement was video editing and home use and a small form factor was top of my list for portability. It is been a week now and below are my Pros and Cons. Pros: - Good Form Factor that is compact - For my primary use the performance is awesome - Felt the speakers are really good - The Chiclet Keyboard comfortable for typing - Love the USB C charging - The laptop build overall quality feels good Cons: - The keyboard back light is pathetic - There is NO Home or End keys that is annoying, since i use that a lot - The finger print sensor need more tweaking

Best Laptop for College Students
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing laptop for college students. Great battery life, build quality, speakers, keyboard, CPU, and the GPU absolutely blows it out of the water due to the powerful RTX 2060 Max-Q. The ryzen 9 is a beast too. 1TB SSD is more than enough. Overall, really satisfied and the battery life is amazing at around 8-10 hours depending on usage.

Love it
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely lovely little laptop for the price and weight. I can take it anywhere and is preferable to lugging my hulking desktop to LAN parties. Handles most or all games at high to medium settings. It's a little dated now but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend even a newer model.

Awesome Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an amazing laptop for the price and the amount of performance in this 14" laptop is unheard of. This laptop rivals the performance to that of Macbooks especially with the AMD 4900HS processor which is able to beat the latest I7s and I9s. The overall structure of this laptop is very sturdy and very light compared to other gaming laptops. The overall battery life is perfect and I get about 8-9 hours mainly for surfing the internet and doing development work. The back lighting on this keyboard isn't really that bad and while some letters are hard to see it doesn't really take away much in terms of being able to use this laptop efficiently. As for the heat issues, this laptop stays pretty cool and there are some changes that you can do to make it run better which you can either youtube or look on reddit in the asus zephyrus g14 subreddits. Also ensure that you always update this laptop by installing the updates through the update center. Before purchasing ensure what you really want to use laptop for and that you are fine with a smaller screen screen. Overall it is an amazing laptop for the price and really can't complain.

Omg !! This laptop is amazing!!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this laptop on sale !! Glad I got this laptop. I am coming from an Alienware 15r3 but geez this is amazing for the price. Sold my alienware and got this. Couldn't have been more happier. Took a leap of faith following the reviews on good this laptop is and with sale. It is a no brainer to go for this if you are looking for portable gaming machine superior multicore cpu performance. Only gripe as others mentioned are no webcam and keyboard backlighting sucks. (I prefer switching the backlight out as it is much better) Follow reddit page for more tweaks to make this laptop even more appealing like 8 to 10 hours battery life !!!! Did I mention it is lightweight!! I love this laptop and I really can't wait how the laptop industry is gonna change forever with this system's existence!! Ps: Disabled turbo boost in registry and been playing overwatch for an hour . Cpu and gpu stays mind 70s in performance mode (this is a must since the cpu gets way hot without this tweak) . This is surprising for me because my alienware used to stay at 90 with repasting .. undervolting.. and with a cooling pad

Good performing laptop but Needs thunderbolt ports
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop great value. The ryzen 9 is great with battery and pairs nicely with the RTX 2060. The ROG button allows to switch between the different profiles to easily crank up the CPU or lower for battery life. Screen is a good size if you like 14’. Makes to stow and carry around pretty easily. Can play most games with effects cranked up to its native 1080p 120hz screen. The only drawback is not having a thunderbolt port(Intel cpus only) as I do dock from a monitor with multiple peripherals. I work with a MacBook Pro as well and a Thunderbolt port is a must if you are using this as your primary PC. Having to unplug multiple ports every time you need to undock is very annoying. This is the only reason why I wouldn’t give it 5 stars. Call of Duty, Valorant, Forza Horizon 4 and most Xbox Gamepass PC games work perfectly on this rig. If you don’t have docking requirements like me, this is a great laptop to have.

Great laptop for Productivity which can game
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.AMD mobile 4000 series processor in a compact and good thermal setting alone was enough to convince me to buy this laptop. The above average battery life of 7-8 hours based on web browsing and media consumption (compared to other gaming laptops) is an added bonus. Almost all the so-called problems (screen blackout, battery life, etc.) can be solved by following reddit and updating drivers via windows update. ROG Armoury Crate is as usual a good software to have. The keyboard backlighting is poor but can be easily turned off by Fn+Down key. Turning it off is actually good for me. The keyboard looks nice after you turn it off. The keyboard is great and it has above average key travel and not too loud in a silent environment. The fans can be audible in a not-so-noisy room but they sound clean. I guess this is a calculated design choice from ASUS to maintain good thermal and better frame rate during gaming. I have a 10th gen Intel core i5 Macbook pro (2020) as well (I use it mostly for productivity). To be completely honest, g14 has better thermal and better battery life than my Mac. The scissor-switch keyboard of Macbook is good as other reviewers raved but the keystrokes can get pretty loud and you have to use it with care but as for the g14, you can use it however you like because it has arguably better build quality. I feel more comfortable typing on my g14. Can you believe it? I don't understand tons of bad reviews here for g14. You are buying a windows laptop. You have to tweak a little bit before the system becomes stable and amenable to your need. You have to accept that. This is an excellent machine for its price and I would gladly recommend this to anyone.

Quite the impression, Quite impressive
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All the benchmarks and FPS meters aside, this is one serious contender to be my main gaming rig. I've always gamed on a desktop or console and only ever used a laptop for small time trips just to have a pc device of some sort to do my light PC tasks on the go. I've been on the G14 since I got it a couple days ago and hardly turn on my main PC besides to transfer some games onto an external SSD. The first thing I noticed when I picked it up from my Best Buy, was just how elegant the box was from the outside. Unlike all my previous laptops which were in bland cardboard and logos, the two-tone box reminds me of what is in store, an Asus Zephyrus G14. And then it gets better when I opened it, the laptop greets me and wants to be held even when I'm still in the car as it raises itself on some platform when you pull the box lid open. It is petite, but sturdy. You can't imagine how heavy it really is until you hold it (even though its only 3.5lbs) but all that weight is contained in this small package. You won't need herculean strength to carry it around however, it just has a nice dense feel. My experience with it so far is great. I've done everything I would normally do on my PC minus the sound system. I've played a ton of games, watched a lot of videos, and browse the internet like a champ. Probably never going to stress the CPU the way it should with my general usage, but I don't care. It's something I don't have to worry about because I know the machine is going to chomp whatever I throw at it for the next few years. I've done a lot research before purchasing this machine and read most of the pros and cons. With all the problems that I've heard about, I was anxious, but it still didn't outweigh my want for this little laptop and was just even more excited after I put the order in. Fortunately, I have yet to encounter any defects or problems that are plaguing earlier batches, and hope not to. The much more stated problems of keyboard lighting and loud fans are definitely present. This is a $1500 machine with unprecedented performance so I can't really remark on the value besides saying if you have the money and want a great laptop, this is honestly the best you can get for: a) Form Factor and portability b) Performance c) Conversation starter (I've had more family and friends talk about it then any laptop I've ever own or even spoke of). Honestly, you can get better gaming laptops with more features and more gaming performance, but nothing in this size and classiness. Good luck to all my other fellow buyers who also love their new g14! Note: The laptop lid as seen in pictures have little perforated holes that my cat likes to sleep on when I have it closed. Careful, she likes to get her claws in there like its a cat post.
