    Device worked as intended for a while. Now I'm getting random green pixels all over my screen. I had to disable the AMD display driver, and now can only use the 2060 on the laptop. By disabling the driver, my green pixel problem has gone away, but the HDMI unfortunately was disabled with it.

    Mobo spontaneously combusted at idle - 6 months in

    I've had the unit about 6 months now. Seemed to be working great until yesterday. Laptop was left idle with Discord running in the background. We then heard a loud "pop" and smelt this awful burning smell. Once we figured out it was the laptop we unplugged and made sure it wasn't smoldering. Currently trying to start an RMA and there is extreme skepticism every step of the way. They seem to think we've damaged our laptop somehow, but that's not the case. Laptop was always kept cool and dry, it hasn't even seen a sneeze to the keyboard. Device was also on a cooling mat almost 100% of the time. We were only using 2 USB devices at the time - a cooling pad and a wireless adapter for a logitech mouse. We've configured the device to stop charging battery at 70% so as to reduce potential battery issues as well. Basically, we've done everything we could to ensure that this device functions properly for a long time. This seems like a manufacturing defect far more than a user error.

    Stuck on BIOS, (No storage = SSD broken)

    I was so happy with the laptop performance for gaming and using photoshop, illustrator etc UNTIL it just stopped working last week. Wont go into windows and stuck on BIOS. I got it from BestBuy SF on Jan 1st 2021. its not even 1 year and the hard drive stopped working. Not in the states currently, I had to buy a new 1TB SSD for replacement :( Tried to get my files back but it was not possible... Sad..

    Lot of Promise on G14 but stability issues.

    I was stoked about getting this device with Ryzen 9 and Nvidia 2060 MaxQ. I had the device for less than a month and initial setup went off fine and i did load Flight Simulator and things looked promising. But 15 days into using the device i did run into a seemingly known issue of the GPU drivers and my laptop would get a black screen. I am computer savvy and figured out a way to get it back up using a USB bootable etc. Long story short the device has a lot of promise and i enjoyed the short stint but returned it to Best Buy as i was within the return period and bestbuy folks were very good in handling the issue. They asked me if would get it exchanged but i wanted to avoid a repeat of the issue and then i am left holding the bag with warranty claims. Its a great device i might have gotten a lemon but seems like lot of folks are getting the issue. If you want to keep the device i would suggest that you might want to do a clean windows install and avoid the ASUS storage. But if you do buy please make a USB bootable incase you want recover. In my case safepoint recovery also failed just had bad luck and it left a bad taste. Hope that i get a stable device for gaming, but in all this Best Buy Folks were great to work in Kildeer,IL.

    miss a half of the adapter cable

    Avoid This Product

    Unfortunately the machine began having blue screen and freezing errors. After following ASUS trouble shooting I finally gave up and brought it back to Best Buy. I asked for a store credit however I was told it was not possible. So the machine was sent out and I was given a turn around time of 4-8 weeks! I am beyond disappointed. I understand that you can’t just give people money back after a certain point however, an exception would have made the situation a lot better. I purchased the machine on 9/8/2020 with a response from ASUS on 10/23/2020 (followed their troubleshooting instructions to the letter) and finally bought it to Best Buy today 11/30/2020

    Terrible quality control.

    Missing components out of the box, and there's only supposed to be three components included (plus brochures and pamphlets). Purchased brand new. ASUS needs to get their AQL sampling up to snuff during final assembly and final packaging. Switch the contract manufacturer who assembles this line of laptops, I spent way too much money for my Christmas to be ruined by a lack of quality control in final pack out. It's legitimately a step in manufacturing so simple that the operator grabs one of each of the components (probably scanning for SAP inventory purposes), so it is unacceptable for that step to be performed incorrectly for a premium product with a relatively low run count compared to consumer devices. Capitalism is dope, consumerism is sweet; I'm writing this review and never buying an ASUS product again. For those not willing to waste their Holidays waiting for replacement parts to arrive (2-3 weeks) or by sitting in 529 minute waiting rooms for customer service, creative types should look at MacBooks with the M1 chip, and gamers should look to the Razer 15. This way consumers who want to purchase a laptop with quality control in their manufacturing and assembly shop can.

    Laptop lasted 30 days and is now completely dead

    The quality of this laptop is very poor. Do NOT buy this if you don't like dealing with problems. I'm now trying to figure out if I can get another laptop or will have to send to Asus for replacement. The laptop is completely dead. No lights or anything. Tried resolving using Asus support website and it was not very helpful at all. It gave 1 possible way to resolve which did not work and no chat or 800 number to calls or anything. This is my FIRST ASUS laptop and it will be MY LAST because I WILL NEVER BUY ASUS PRODUCTS AGAIN.

    Should have been an excellent experience, but out of the box this laptop had issues. Naturally, I tried to resolve them per Best Buy’s recommendation through ASUS. Naturally, by the time I had enough with attempting to fix the device and wanted to swap it out for a working device it was no longer eligible to be returned. Best Buy has a 30 day return window. Not much time for you to work with the manufacturer. They should have taken the laptop back and replaced it instead of advising me to get manufacturer support. After sending the laptop in to the manufacturer several times the issues were never resolved and the warranty expired. Yay.

      All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, this is a random problem. This issue is normal and temporary after Windows initial setup completed. To resolve the issue, please ensure Windows is up to date with all features and cumulative update in order to maintain system stability and optimum performance. If this step was performed, we recommend sending the laptop in for service. Normally, ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or part that stop working prematurely under normal usage.

    As many of you have reviewed or at the very least looked into this gaming laptop I will give you the quick pros & cons. I read about the thermal temperature problem and the poor keyboard back light but for the specs i pulled the trigger. Returning after 1 hour of use....enough said. Lets get into this: Pros: -Definitely very fast on start up to gaming took seconds. -Decent screen, but for the price-point they had to cut some areas as this was a 14" screen. -Limited gaming kept up its high fps during entire time on warzone ( slight ghosting) -Keyboard and track pad felt great and responsive. Cons: -After gaming for 15 min the palm rests, and "waasd" keys reached thermals so hot to the touch I had to let it cool. I proceeded this in many settings and the entire laptop always kept thermals above 97. Imagine touching a vehicle door on a hot sunny day and you will see my point. - The key back lighting was the worst I have ever seen. Wrap-up: - Save your self the disappointment.

    Dissaspointed. The laptop worked very good for awhile. After about 9 months screen went black. Can only use it with an external monitor. Kinda defeats the purpose of a laptop. Been through ALL the troubleshooting countless forums and long calls. Same thing every time. Black screen. Best buy isnt much help either. Disappointed.

Please allow us to make your experience with ASUS a better one. There's a possibility that there are background apps and Windows updates causing the unit to perform as it does. What we've observed with the Windows 10 operating system is that once the unit is not being used all background and installed apps including Windows updates will fire up. We would recommend that you check for and install updates. This will cause the unit to run a bit hotter than normal and in turn ramp up the fan speed. We would recommend that the user check for and install all updates for all installed applications. Multiple restarts are recommended to ensure all updates are installed.
