    Laptop malfunctioned as soon as I couldn't return

    The laptop worked great until the return period lapsed, then it started inexplicably freezing when I was using the browser. Nothing was running that should cause it to freeze. It wasn't processing high memory games or multiple tasks running at the same time, it was just a simple web browser. The laptop had to be rebooted, which lost everything I was doing. I searched online for a solution and there does not seem to be one. I am not the only person with the issue. Very disappointed, this issue makes it basically unusable and Best Buy won't refund/return it.

    Missing features and broken keyboard

    Definitely wouldn't buy this again. There's no webcam. There are no Home, End, Page Up, or Page Down keys. The space bar on mine came busted and pressing it once will often cause two spaces to appear. The only recourse it to spend $40 to ship it in for warranty service and be out a laptop for who-knows-how-long.

    Won't last, keep looking.

    Poor heat dissipation design. Heat is directed out of the back of the computer and towards the LCD display which will damage the screen in time. Also required manual changes to Windows in order to get the GPU to function (even when plugged in). Normally I am a big fan of ASUS, but they definitely dropped the ball on this one.

    just a few months in and the screen stopped working. External monitor works, but laptop screen is on but so dark you cannot see anything but outlines. Worked with ASUS tech to try to figure it out and they couldn't. Told me to take back to best buy for them to help. To be continued....

    Avoid this laptop. It is trash.

    I suppose the fault is ultimately mine for not heeding the signs while in the return window, but this laptop is trash. From day one, out of the box, it had issues recognizing the power supply. Finally last week, it stopped recognizing it, and won't charge the battery. After the first windows update loaded, the CPU locked down to 0.39Ghz. Too the laptop back, and Geek Squad reloaded the OS. It worked great until I got it back on Wi-Fi, when the same thing happened. Not a great feature for a gaming laptop. Getting the OS reloaded a second time seemed to cure the problem, until about 3 weeks ago. At this point, I've got a paper-weight that I can't return. The only reason it is getting 1 star is so the review gets counted.

    Open Box Geek-Squad Certified but one major issue.

    Purchased this item Open Box Excellent Geek Squad certified hoping that the item will be amazing. While plugged in, the laptop works great. Fast boot-times, good screen. However there is one glaring issue with the laptop unit that I received. As soon as you unplug the power adapter to the laptop, it immediately shuts off. There's no warning or notification that the laptop is "on battery" and all you see is a black screen. You are unable to power up the laptop and can only be powered up while connected to a power adapter. I've had this issue in the past with previous ASUS laptops, but did not expect to find this issue with the laptop the same day that I opened it. Only had the laptop in hand for 1 hour before returning in back to BestBuy to buy a "new" laptop. I hope the next time that I purchase a laptop that is Geek-Squad Certified Open-Box Excellent, they are true to their name and provide Excellent quality laptops.

    This was an awesome computer when I first purchased. Ran everything very smooth. Ran games on high settings. After about 8 months it’s performance has drastically been reduced. Will only run games for maybe 2 hours before it gets too warm and crashes then shuts down. I should have opened a ticket before the year was up, but now after 14 months this will only do do basic computing and maybe a movie. This will no longer will play any game. I’m a fan of Asus products but this was a complete waste of $1300. I didn’t expect to pay this much to have it fail at just over a year.

    Built-in keyboard lacks several keys I have come to expect/use. Insert key: used in <shift+insert> for pasting into terminals Page Up/PageDown/Home/End: quick navigation. not specifically keyboard, but there doesn't seem to be "middle click" support on the touchpad. Otherwise, seems great.

    Unit lasted 6 months before spontaneously combusting. Laptop was just sitting on a laptop cooling pad on AC power when we heard a pop and smelled burning before pulling the AC plug. Laptop no longer starts at all. Started RMA process, but it's looking like they think we did something. Let me be clear, we've taken excellent care of this machine, it has never suffered a spill/drop or extreme conditions. It has only ever remained in a cool, dry room with plenty of ventilation. We are also within the 12 month warranty. If you do decide to go with this unit, be sure to buy the Best Buy coverage because ASUS might give you the run-around. Before this, I'd rate this laptop 5/5. But since it broke in such a fantastic way, I'm bringing it down to 1 star. If RMA goes well, it will go up to a 4/5.

    I think this is a fantastic little laptop. If you're looking for something light and easily portable. I don't think there are any better options than this. The whole "work" facade does unfortunately run into some trouble with it lacking a webcam, especially if "work" for you requires remote meetings under the current situation. Of course, a USB webcam is always a possibility. In terms of value, I don't think it's hard to find more powerful (albeit larger, hotter, heavier and less portable) laptops for less money, so if style and a small form factor isn't something you care about, you might be better looking at other options. If you DO like this model, there are more powerful versions of it (one with a GTX 1660 ti and another with an RTX 2060 Max-q) that may actually be a better bang for your buck if you can swing the upcharge, but this is still a very solid piece of machinery that can handle most of what you can throw at it without any problems, and I'd definitely recommend it.

    Great computer on paper but I think theres still some software bugs to smooth out. I have some issues with low battery life and speaker popping sound, and had issues with screen flickering until someone recommended a fix. For a laptop of this price, the Out of Box experience should be much better.
