Good All Around
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop, I haven't had any issues with it besides having started to grow out of the capabilities of the laptop when moving onto games that require more power. the battery life is pretty good for a gaming laptop, you can get by for a minute without power, and for a few hours depending on what you are doing. It's not terribly loud, but definitely louder than a normal laptop if this is your first gaming one. There hasn't been a ton of slowing down even though I have a ton of games on here. I'd say this is a really good laptop for someone who is into gaming but isn't trying out the best and most complex games on the market. for the relatively low price (compared to other gaming laptops) id say this is a great one.

Fan Trouble

Very good laptop

At first, I hated it because I used Ubuntu and didn't know how to turn off the fans. However, after using some open-source packages to control the fans, this laptop is amazing. It is a bit heavy (including the charger) compared to normal laptops, but when compared to other gaming computers, it is decently sized. The build quality is great, too. Battery life is decent.

Great until it died in a month with burnt smell

Alas, that love affair only lasted for a month. Yesterday my G14 would not turn on and there was burnt smell coming out of the vent. No idea why my G14 is frying after a month of moderate use (only played light strategy game). Had to return it to Bestbuy.

Overt Failure. Bad Service.

Unfortunately, within the first six months, the machine self-immolated. There was a loud thunk and smoke poured from the vents. The machine is dead. Fortunately, it didn't take the dorm room with it. Unfortunately, he's now without a laptop and finding out just how to get it replaced under warranty is near impossible. ASUS directs you to Best Buy. Best Buy couldn't get him in to look at it until Feb. 16 (over 10 days after the initial failure).

Not good

Having extreme hardware issues

First off 1 of the 2 usb ports stopped working and second I keep getting blue screen and complete system freeze. I have been using the labtop in conjuction with a cooling pad and it has had a stationary life. I should not be seeing this kind of issues under 6 months after shelling out 1, 500 this is an issue.

Not good for gaming

Buy beware!

I updated drivers, remove and reinstalled them, and updated the bios and still had issue. I could've tried to do a bare metal reinstalled but returned it as i should have to do that with a brand new laptop.

Laptop failed after 6 months!!!!

Geek squad told me I am probably gonna have to wait 3 weeks to a month to have it repaired. I feel like this is in acceptable for a 6 month old laptop. I think the motherboard failed after only 6 months. I am very disappointed, and after reading forums I have found out that the motherboard seems to be failing when using the USB c for docking and external monitors.

Quality control issue

The laptop I have receive seems to have been open and the power cord is missing. I do not understand how bestbuy QC didnt notice it was open. I took about a month just to receive the product and just be disappointed. I don't believe i will be purchasing anything at BestBuy any time soon.

A bit salty that it's not the aniME matrix
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just got this laptop today in hopes that it would have the aniME matrix on the lid, but there is none on this model and it's not specified as far as I can see. despite this I have had a great first impression with this machine. the keyboard is good, plays games well, it's snappy snappy with the m.2 drive in it. all this and the rog software keeps good tabs on whats going on. One thing that should be noted it that the fans get pretty loud. If that isn't an issue for you then i believe that it's great for the average power user on all fronts!

Perfect blend of design and ability

Just sitting next to the other gaming laptops at Best Buy you could tell how much quieter it was. The keyboard has great feel, there's no bloatware and it allows me to do solid modeling work as well as game without the obtrusive flair of other gaming laptops. For the specs, I would expect to pay roughly 50% more but it's a bargain
