Excellent Laptop & BAD Screen
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just loved how fast this laptop was. You are getting AMD's best mobile processor 4900HS, 1 TB storage, 16 Gig ram for 1500. Can't complain really. Build quality was good, not great. Coming to issues, 1. Laptop fan noise is high 2. This screen shouldn't be on a laptop of this quality.

G14 > Razer Laptops
||Posted . Owned for 9 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're looking for a small form factor gaming laptop that doesn't look like a cringey mess of red and black and logos, then buy this. I've had this laptop for near a year. If you have the chance to get one, then snag it. I was hemming and hawing between this and a Razer laptop and after trying a couple of Razer laptops and returning them because the price/performance was way too off for me, this guy has been my daily driver since. The processor is still stupid fast and a 2060, even Max-Q, is plenty of bang for your buck in gaming. 120 HZ screen looks good and plays things smooth as butter. I've even coaxed 60 FPS+ in cyberpunk out of this thing without it catching fire. If this thing had a thunderbolt port on it for easier docking, I'd just sell off my desktop PC because honestly, this thing offers such comparable performance that I could see myself using it with an eGPU for years after the 2060 stops being an acceptable midrange card.

Portable Powerhouse
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had it for more than 4 months now. Take the G14 if you want a productivity laptop that can game hard. The battery and thermals are amazing no matter what you do. Also very portable and looks like a MacBook Pro if you trade the keyboard keys out for the gray variant. You take a hit in terms of ports and smaller screen but it isn't super noticeable if you aren't looking. It is a powerful CPU paired with weak GPU is sad to see but it is very powerful as it is. I'm getting an average of 136 FPS in Ultra Graphics Siege if it's uncapped but I cap it at 120 FPS. Death Stranding seems to average around 99-105 FPS with DLSS 2.0 on. It's not as bad as I thought it would be in complete honesty. Risk of Rain 2 is rather low end in terms of specs required so it hits Ultra rather easily at max frames. Combined score for Fire Strike is 14444. Combined Score for Time Spy is 5988. Takes a about 30 mins to fully set it up. Take a look at reddit to see a good setup for the G14.

Great laptop for the price.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Apart from few glitches, this is an awesome laptop I brought. AMD ryzen 9 processor with 8 cores can handle pretty much any heavy task. I'm using this laptop for development and lightroom. On performance mode it can run any IDE. I'm not using this for gaming but you can view other comments and it's one of the best gaming laptop. It you do few configuration you can achieve really great battery life. I keep my battery till 80% with my asus configuration for battery longevity and still achieve 6 hr plus battery life on silent mode. Only few glitches and I bought this laptop after knowing all the drawbacks. 1. Backlight on keyboard is pretty much useless. 2. No webcam. 3. Weird port location and no thunderbolt 3 because of AMD. Apart from that it checks pretty much everything.

Killer machine!! Highly recommend to anyone!!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow. This machine is seriously INCREDIBLE. I am a pc enthusiast and highly recommend this laptop to anyone. I have been using it for about a month now, I love every minute of it. The battery life is around 8 hours in normal use, and the gaming performance is killer for how small this laptop is. I bought two of these for my wife and I and we love them so much. It makes her photo and video editing a breeze and my engineering major much easier having a powerful and small machine. My ONLY gripe is that it doesn't have a front facing camera, but whatever. Another nice surprise was the speakers on this laptop are REALLY nice! The lid is a hard plastic, but the rest of the chassis is aluminum and feels very sturdy. This laptop was totally worth it, and the price is completely reasonable. I will say, that there a some tweaks that you should do to max out the life of the laptop. It would be a good idea to look at some forums to get the best performance out of this laptop.

GREAT LAPTOP
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is my best one yet! It lacks a camera, but that's only a minor inconvenience and I got a Logitech external camera which does the job. I just like how powerful this is. I can run most games without issue and even use this for work-related tasks as it has ample processing power to do some more demanding compilations (I'm a data scientist). Virtualization is decent on this in case you want to go into a Linux environment. The only other downside besides the lack of camera is that it doesn't come with space for an extra SSD in case you want to install another OS and dual boot, but that's minor and only an issue if you want to use Linux and Windows on two separate SSDs. For the gamer or software dev who's fine working in Windows, this is a killer laptop. The other comment I'll make is the battery life. I used this on a flight from California to Hawaii and it lasted the whole trip.

Good Purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My last laptop was Asus ROG as well. I'm so happy with this purchase. Don't let the size fool you, it's more than capable of any game you throw at it. I love the design as well. Glad to have such a powerful laptop that doesn't weigh over ten pounds and heat up like a furnace.

This laptop is in its own league
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can’t believe the computing power you get in this small package for such a low price. The only downsides I can think of are. This thing does heat up when you push it. There’s no web cam and not to many options to increase ram I wish rhymed would have had so sodimm slots vs 1

Best portable Gaming laptop in 2020 at this price
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the best Laptop i have owned. Ryzen 9 exceeds all expectation. Best for my photo editing, regular work, and casual Gaming. Very portable. Few areas of improvement- Need to have a built in Camera, improve on thermals - it gets very hot while gaming.

Excellent laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent computer! Runs games with absolutely no issues, is small and compact to carry around if you're on the go. Battery life is good! Only complaint or minor issue is when playing graphic intensive games the fans do get semi loud, but not a deal breaker I would say.

Wonderful!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't know how bad my last laptop was until I bought this one! Old laptop was slow and frustrating, but it did what I needed. I ran out of patience and decided it was time for an upgrade. I don't play any games right now, but I do absolutely love how quick this little one is. This might be weird...but the sound and feel of the keys when I'm typing is just total ASMR for me :'D It's beautiful. I mostly use my laptop for my classes and binging on Netflix and Hulu. Definitely love the size, it fits perfectly in my bag. No real complaints but then again I'm not using it for anything too strenuous.

Updates Fixed Major Issues!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I've only had it for a little bit, but installed all the Windows, NVIDIA, Asus, and BIOS updates and haven't had a single screen flicker once (fingers crossed). Shame for the early adopters that were turned off by the bugs. Reddit/the internet opened me up to a whole world of customization I hadn't even considered. Biggest tweak was to adjust the 3D graphics in the NVIDIA application to essentially have the GPU primarily off and only turned on for specific applications (for me, Video Editing and Games). This coupled with Asus' silent mode has me at an estimated 10 hours of battery for low intensity tasks such as web browsing, watching video, etc. Aside from that, the build is great. Keyboard feels good, but I have little nitpicks like lack of a dedicated mute volume button, page up/down and home/end keys, but obviously this isn't primarily a productivity laptop for spreadsheets and documents. The backlighting on the white seems improved from initial video reviews, but I could see it being problematic and black being better. It is odd to not have a webcam, but that is such small con considering the power and build this machine has for the price and form factor. Would highly recommend if you're willing to do some low to mid-level difficulty tweaking. Out of the box you may be disappointed with battery life mostly, assuming the screen flicker issues are indeed resolved. Keep it coming AMD!

My first gaming laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this as my first gaming laptop. I mainly wanted to be able to play games from Xbox Game Pass and VR games. I love the portability and and build quality. This feels very premium as it should for this price range. I’ve been enjoying playing Half-Life: Alyx wirelessly via Oculus Airlink and everything runs very smoothly. I always do plenty of research on my purchases as you are most likely doing right now reading this review. The two complaints I saw were there is no webcam. I don’t need this for work and if I need a camera I use my phone so this is not a problem. The other complaint was the backlit keyboard isn’t very bright. I don’t have many other laptops to compare to but I personally think the backlighting is fine and I don’t even use it on its brightest setting. I definitely recommend this laptop for a portable powerful machine.

Fantastic for gaming, amazing in battery life
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After some tweaks to Nvidia Control Panel, Power Settings and other things, I can confidently say this is the best laptop I've ever had. It games really well, even on battery! Medium-Ultra settings on most games get a minimum of 75fps (taking advantage of that Freesync) but the games I play most get 90+! Battery life is great, too! For gaming, I can get anywhere from 1.5 to 4 hours depending on the game. Lighter loads like coding, drawing, Discord, and simple web browsing net me 10+ hours on a single charge (sometimes up to around 13 hours) whole video watching on YouTube or Twitch get me around 6 hours. All in all, this is definitely worth the price. Just gotta hope you don't get one with a weird backlight for the keyboard.

Solid machine
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far has been an incredible all around machine. Pro's: The screen is simply beautiful in my opinion. (I have FHD version) The keys feel good and comfortable to type with. Good response without being to tough or clicky. Heat management has been groovy for me. After two hours of constant updates the bottom was slightly warm to the touch. After that a solid hour of demand on the gpu with screen at full brightness and the bottom was hot but no where near burning like I used to get with my older machine. Size is nice.Very light but for a 14" this screen is big to me. Do I wish it were as bigger yes but I like the trade off of having this super portable mini beast better. Con's: So yes the lighting on the keyboard sucks. However if you ask me if you are buying a gaming rig like this you should know how to type and it shouldn't be a big deal. Personal opinion there. I am currently having issues with the Alt key registering. This could simply be my getting used to the new keys though. Gotta go fast! There is no webcam but I never use that for my personal machine anyways so a minus I guess? There is no home or end key. Why??? I have no idea. The typical FN + arrow keys would have worked perfect from what I can see. But anyways not a huge deal I can just use VIM I guess lol Overall I am most impressed with the screen being easy for me to read due to reasonable size considering the portability and the super nice colors. I was debating forking out the cash for the 1440p that should come out soon but after using this 1080p I'm satisfied completely. For the cost increase of getting the 1440p you can just buy a nice 1440p monitor. I have not used this in the sun directly or extensively, probably won't ever, but when I opened the blinds with the afternoon sun coming straight in I could still see this screen crystal clear. I love the battery life so far. I am gaming and not turning the screen to super low so I am not getting the claimed 11 hours of life however I am getting 3 hours of heavy lifting from this machine. Impressive to me. I love it so far and don't see that changing. If the quality holds up for a few years then this should be a legend for Asus to brag about.

Tiny Giant
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a powerhouse. It has excellent color accurate display. Gaming won't be a problem as it has a 120hz display and RTX 2060 max-q. Though I have not played a lot of games on this laptop(only a few like Ghost Recon BreakPoint, watchdogs) it runs those games with ease. I mainly use it to train some ML models, with my previous laptop it used to take like 4 hours to train a model with dataset of 4000 images, now it's done within an hour. It's very impressive performance. The touchpad is made of glass and it's pretty accurate. The battery life is phenomenal. With just normal coding, web browsing, and youtube, I get around 10hrs of battery backup. The only con is with the keyboard. The backlight is horrible. You are better off without it. And also while gaming the WASD keys get very hot. If you want to game on this device, get a separate keyboard.

A neat little fireball of a machine.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this after having my Lenovo keyboard not stand up very well to the writing I've been doing, and I was looking for a decent gaming rig that didn't weigh six pounds. Pleasantly surprised at the speed and battery life that this lighter machine gets, and the keyboard is buttery smooth typing compared to my previous chicklet key machine, though it occasionally doublestrikes the space bar because of the way I hit it, and the arrow keys are kinda small. The PrintScr key is in an unusual spot between Alt and Ctrl, and the PageUp/Down and Home keys are missing. Backlighting for the keys is there-but-meh, and for some reason the dim/bright controls were more important than the Page Up/Down/Home keys. It does what it was supposed to, though, so I'm pretty happy with it.

great engineering ruined by weirdly placed keys
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Has a nice option to stop charging battery at 60% to prolong the battery life. The keyboard feels nice and solid, and the backlight is just fine in the dark. When there is plenty of ambient light, it looks better without the backlight. It probably would have been better if they made the keys black and the letters light colored. Seems like a poor design decision. The keyboard does not have Home/End/Insert/Page Up/Page Down keys. The F12 key is where the Insert key usually goes. The PrintScreen key is between Alt and Ctrl keys... that's a very "original" place to put that key, and Asus gets extra points for originality for that. Why did Asus decide to make such dumb moves with the keyboard? I don't know. It's annoying, but I guess I will just have to live with it. The other keys are mostly in their correct places. Maybe one day they will make a utility to remap the keys so that I can stop capturing screenshots every few minutes. It's funny how one stupid key in the wrong place can ruin the entire experience. On most laptops, FN+ArrowLeft and FN+ArrowRight send Home and End respectively. Feels like they could easily add that to this too through firmware. The fan is on all the time, even when it is very cold. That's not too bad though because the fan is very quiet. It's quieter than my Dell XPS 15's fan. Other than the fan noise, this laptop is very quiet and all the components are solidly built. There are no coil whines and that's a testament to proper engineered hardware. In terms of sounds you do want to hear: it has amazing speakers for the tiny size of this laptop. The sounds are crisp and it has plenty of base as well. How they managed to squeeze these amazing speakers in here along with this Ryzen CPU, the GTX 2060, and the battery? This is truly one of the best engineered laptops I have ever seen. Overall, it's an amazingly well engineered awesome laptop that's got a lot of great hardware packed into it, but the crappy keyboard layout leaves a sour aftertaste. Important note to all laptop designers: Stop trying to show-off originality in keyboard layout. Look at this... I just took a screenshot again! What in God's name? Unbelievable... Why is that key even down there? Geezus Christ, people... come on.

Fantastic laptop for gaming and productivity
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is perfect for what I wanted: a laptop that could handle modern games well at 1080p, could function well for standard productivity and software development, and would have adequate storage and battery life. Up until this baby, I always had to compromise. Most gaming capable laptops have poor battery life or are too gaming focused to work well for productivity. This unit hits it out of the park for all 3 of my needs. It handles all modern games I play with good quality settings and at least 60 FPS. Productivity is no problem either with the 8 cores and 16GB RAM. The battery life is phenomenal, too. I can go off-cord for 4 to 5 hours with no issue and could probably stretch that out even more. The only downside (minor for me) is the lack of a webcam, but that barely registers as a complaint. This is easily the best laptop I've owned to date.

Nice portable powerful laptop
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. With a bunch of tweaking, this is a really good laptop that doesn't burn your lap off. First, turn off turbo mode and just run it in quiet mode. Force every app to run without the nVidia chip when on battery and you'll get 7hrs of battery life. Be careful when installing apps because some of them can kick in the nVidia chip; go into the nvidia settings and turn every app off except for games. Asus can make this a great laptop by having two memory slots and two NVME slots and allowing 100w power delivery on all USB-C ports (I have to run mine turtled because I run an external monitor on my desk because the PD USB-C is on the wrong side) and use a 16:10 aspect ratio screen. The package is nice, portable, and powerful. Rumors of V2 have 16GB of memory soldered onto the motherboard with a 1080p screen though :-(
