4 months later and still a great laptop!
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this laptop up back in mid-May. It definitely takes a few simple tweaks on the user’s end to get the most out of this machine. Following the G14 subreddit on Reddit, I was able to install compatible updates and my battery life went from about 6 hours to 10 hours for the usual web browsing, Microsoft office, and email use. The fans are quiet and the machine stays cool (43 when plugged in on performance mode and 35 when unplugged on silent mode). I purchased this laptop for college, as I run genetic analyses and have to access large databases for my program, which the machine does amazingly well. It’s very portable, powerful, and a long lasting battery! My only complaint is the uneven backlighting and silver color keys, but that is not as issue for me since I have a silicone cover. I would definitely buy this again!

Exceptional machine
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This machine is a powerhouse. From its sleek style to high end performance this is a must have for gamers and businesses that need to multitask. It does get hot after an extended use which I solved with a laptop cooling fan. 5 stars

Reasonable Price for Outstanding Performance
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While I just picked up this laptop recently (7/2/2020), I knew a lot of the benchmarks out of the gate (thanks Linus Tech Tips), and new this was a quick and powerful laptop. However, I was not expecting to fall in love with this thing as much as I did. The 2060 makes it great for most gaming experiences, the R9 4900 CPU helps a TON with the CAD work, and it's thin and light profile makes it great for travel. My only complaint would be getting used to the keyboard, it is a little bit of a different style than I am used to, but I am getting the hang of it rather quickly. TL;DR - Laptop is light, fast, strong, and portable. Keyboard takes some getting used to. 9.5/10.

Powerful and small
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a great machine, it runs my games with all stats at high perfectly fine. Would give it 4.5 though as when gaming, fans can be loud, does not have a camara (really? In 2020) and it can get hot. Perfectly happy with my buy thus far.

Big battery life in a portable package
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The good: Form and function are great for the gamer on the go. Battery life and temps for light usage are phenomenal with some tweaks and at the price point is hard to beat. Build quality feels really good compared to cheaply built laptops with plastic chassis. The not-so-good: Single ssd slot limits storage unless you buy a higher capacity drive and 8 gb of ram is soldered to the motherboard. The screen is a bit slow with the refresh rate and frequency. Lack of thunderbolt limits future proofing. Overall, highly recommended for students and work-first gamers. Esports titles will do well, AAA games will need to be toned down to achieve decent frameworks. Cost-wise, the quality is hard to beat, and it's best in its class for this generation with battery life.

Excellent laptop for college students!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm a college student, but I also do a lot of gaming (especially over the summer). The 120hz display is super nice, keyboard is surprisingly really good and a great typing experience! Plenty of storage, more than enough RAM, good graphics card and amazing processor. I only have 2 issues with this laptop. First is that it runs kinda hot, but if you go into settings you can disable boosting the CPU, which will lower temps. Because of how much of a BEAST the Ryzen 9 4900HS is, it doesn't even matter to disable boost and you will still be getting maximum performance. My second issue can't be fixed and that's the keyboard backlight. At the end of the day, it's still readable a majority of the time, but it's pretty spotty and isn't as bright or nice as most other laptops. Overall an amazing laptop and it is the PERFECT machine for me.

Fantastic little laptop
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first thing you notice is how solid, yet light weight it is. It definitely has the feel of a high end ultra portable. But beyond that there are no performance compromises. This thing is a beast - no matter whether you're working, playing a game or just browsing the web, nothing fazes it. Even all at once. I switched over to using it as my primary work computer due to its ability to handle video chat, multiple browser interfaces and multiple programming IDEs all open at once. In addition, battery life is exemplary. You can play a high end game for a few hours on battery and still have more than 50% charge left. I expect this to be my primary computer for a long time. It was a steal at 1150 when I bought it. You couldn't part out a DIY desktop with the same specs for that price.

Too many problems to keep
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like this laptop. I was really excited seeing all the great reviews and had high expectations. My main intention of using this laptop would be for photo editing, basic web browsing and occasional gaming and video editing. I chose this laptop because of it's supposed 10 hour battery life for doing basic tasks (web browsing etc). I have been lucky if I get 5 hours of use out of it doing just web browsing. I have installed the latest updates and drivers. I have experienced several black screens and flickering episodes as well, although the recent updates seem to have resolved the issue and the last few times using the laptop it hasn't happened. Screen never went black during gaming. I suspect one of the latest updates has kept the nvidia gpu from going into powersaving mode to help prevent the black screen issue? Heat is also a concern but when I was gaming, I placed a cooling pad under it and it helped a lot. Several reddit threads exist that cover all of these issues. Asus should not have released this product until these issues were resolved. Bottom line like other reviewers have stated, if you don't mind messing around with settings to try get this laptop to perform the way it should then it could be great. Or if you don't mind waiting and hoping Asus can fix these issues soon. But if you are like me, and just want something to work the way it should (especially for $1500) without having to mess with it, then I would look elsewhere. I will be returning this. I picked up the new Samsung galaxy book flex as I will have the ability to add an egpu when the need arises thanks to thunderbolt 3.

Amazing value but flawed.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ASUS ROG G14 is an amazing laptop. I bought this for gaming and the promised long battery life. For gaming and video editing this thing is a beast. Extremely powerful and yet small and compact. Pros - - Small - 120hz Screen -Ryzen is amazing and outclasses a lot of desktop chips -2060 Max-Q has pleanty of power for all AAA games -Great battery life IF you disable the graphics card -Speakers are better than anything else for the price Cons - - Loud. Even in silent mode you can hear the fans constantly running -Trackpad is not very big or accurate. -Keyboard is hard to see in the daylight -Screen is slightly too dim -Windows power management. Terrible battery life because windows isn't aggressive enough at shutting down the 2060 graphics card.

Worth the buy
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only issue is heat but is to be expected. Thing is super light and slim. Screen is really nice to given the price point. No camera but built in mic and fingerprint reader. Solid laptop for sure and lighting fast.

Great Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a laptop for college and decided to go with this new ASUS notebook. The size is perfect for travel and it is lightweight and thin. The performance is great and the laptop runs tasks quickly and efficiently. Besides school, the laptop is great for running even the most graphically advanced games on the market.

Best Gaming Laptop Under $1200
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easily one of the best gaming laptops on the market currently, even with the new 30-series laptops coming out later this month. You CANNOT get better performance at this price, period. If you're looking at something in the 1000-1200 price range, stop looking and buy this thing. Great build quality, great cooling, great internal parts (they didn't cheap out on the m.2 drive or the graphics card), nice port selection. The only thing I would have liked to see is an ethernet port and possibly one more USB, but I'm not complaining. This laptop have actually replaced my old 1070 based desktop, easily.

Solid unit for gamers and power users
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop for gaming, graphics or business. Or if you're just a power user in general. Battery life is shockingly good for a laptop with a Ryzen 9 cpu and a dedicated graphics card. You can get an honest 8-10 hours when working. Obviously much shorter if you're gaming, but 2 straight hours of gaming on high settings isn't unheard of. Has a high end Intel wifi card. Touchpad is very responsive. My biggest complaint is the keyboard backlighting. It's poorly designed and lets a lot of light leak out around the keys. Only other gripe is the memory situation. 8gb is soldered to the motherboard, and then you have 1 slot that comes populated with an 8gb strip. So with only one replaceable strip of memory you're capped at 40gb total.

Beast and then some
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Picked this up yesterday, I love it. Its actually the best windows laptop Ive ever used. The pros, thin, lightweight, powerful, amazing trackpad, wonderful keyboard with good travel on the keys and good looking 60 hrtz matte screen. I was able to play Flight Sim 2020 on ultra 1080p, it was so smooth and fluid. No bloatware. The cons are the keyboard back lighting could be so much better (no rgb which is fine). Even on bright its not great with white light on silver keys, plus theres certain areas like around the spacebar, n and m keys that dont get as bright as the rest of the board. I can get hot....which is expected considering whats under the hood. Fans can run loud under load but its not PS4 loud.

The one.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes it's the dream laptop. It's thin and light and can game like a beast. Keyboard is great screen is bright and colorfull. Audio is way better than what i thought it would sound like. So good. Design is fantastic. Premium. Fans are loud for someone who's not used to gaming machines while gaming but in the end it's quiet comparatively. It didnt disturb me anymore after the second day. It's like an ultrabook that you can travel with but oh let's throw in a massive GPU why not? Wouldn't recommend any other laptop as of today. But yes there are new ones coming already but as once Dave lee said don't let your creative desires die on you. If you need it do do something right now, then get it right now!

Awesome small, but powerful machine.
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I must admit the laptop had its issues when I first had it, but I did purchase it back when it first dropped, ever since I installed the updates everything worked fine. Very snappy and most importantly portable machine. I work as a web-dev and often use adobe cc to get my work done in conjunction with local server solutions and the machine handles those tasks with ease. The soft texture on the deck of the laptop is amazing and looks clean. Hopefully, the Asus rog g14 line keeps this trend going. When in gaming at max setting the machine does get hot and a bit noisy but I usually and up putting some headphones on and if the heat gets a bit annoying I tend to dock it vertically on a notebook stand.

Beautifuly 14" product, no webcam is meh
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The laptop is awesome. It has one of the besy ryzen laptop cpu, decent gpu, and runs really fast. However, lack of webcam in this time of period is a bit let down as a lot of people utilize zoom.

Great buy, whether you're a gamer or not
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent build quality, power, screen and port selection. It's overpowered for my everyday use, but when I need to do something more challenging it handles it easily. I don't have the fan noise problems some mention, even running Linux. Anyway, my work laptop is worse, and so is the NUC-like box I had before this. The backlighting isn't great, but the keyboard is good and the trackpad is very good. Overall, I couldn't bring myself to buy an Intel-powered laptop for more knowing this was out there. Really glad I got the G14. The look is nice without screaming gamer (which I'm not, but my daughter is), and it's thin and light enough to travel well. Wonderful machine so far.

Needs refinement
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There are many things to like about this laptop - great specs, the right size, incredible battery life. But ultimately it’s a bit too early to recommend it. It runs far too hot and actually got over 100 F on the keyboard several times. The lighting on the keyboard makes it difficult to use in daylight and the fan was just too noisy. Add in not camera and it’s hard to recommend. I really hope v2 works out the issues.

Great gaming ultrabook
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was torn between this and a similarly priced Razer Blade laptop, but this one gives so much more bang for the buck! The only gripes I have are minimal... 1. The backlighting from the keyboard doesn't show through very well on the keys...if you are a touch typer, this isn't much of an issue, but when its not right in front of me to type on, it is hard to see which key is which. 2. The lack of a built-in webcam. There is plenty of room in the bezel to include this. It is crazy that they did not include it at all. But, beyond these two things, I really do like this computer. I love how it is so light and yet such a powerhouse of a laptop.
