Amazing Laptop. I’ve had this laptop for almost 3 years now. The processor is more than I’ve ever needed. GPU is great for running most games at mid to high graphics. Amazing computer for beginning gamers if you don’t mind having mid-high graphics. Battery life is quick when gaming off the charger.

I have been using this laptop as my everyday computer for almost a month, and so far the experience is great. This ultraportable machine can handle anything from productivity tasks to gaming, plus it has an excellent battery life. At first, I was a bit skeptical of the performance of the RTX 2060 max-q, but turns out it is capable enough to run Half Life Alyx on Oculus Link at medium settings without issues.

For the amount your pay for this, you can't get another ryzen 9 machine with RTX 2060 max Q. The only other options available for this price is the HP Omen but that comes with a ryzen 7. Battery life is amazing but you need to do a few tweaks to tame this beast. Head over to reddit zephyrusg14 subreddit for more information.

I bought this back in may and I typically like to wait a few months to see what the machine is capable of. 1st, yes the laptop is powerful and it can basically run most games on max. It's pretty light and not going to break your back if you carry it around in your backpack. battery life is so-so... maybe 2 hours if your playing games, 3 1/2 if your streaming anything but lets be honest, you didn't buy this because you want to run it on battery for 8 hours. These are real world times, not the "max" battery life with basically nothing running. For a gaming system, it's pretty good. You hear enough about the raves, your checking this out because you want to know what troubles you are going to have. Now... the bad. 1. Unit is insanely noisy. Many reports of the fans being low quality and the bearings in the fans for GPU side winding really bad. I had bad luck with mine, fan is just unbearably noisy 70% of the time. The other 30%, it acts like it's just fine. No angle or holding the laptop a certain way fixes it. It's just a bad fan... but this is happening way too often for a top of the line flagship unit. If you don't have this defect, its not too bad with fans on max but I seriously don't think the cooling system on this is good enough and I foresee shorter life of the GPU in this over the long run. Bestbuy would not speak to me about a warranty and wasn't available for the 3 months I was still in the US (travel internationally here) and ASUS support just says "go talk to best buy" waste... 2. overheating is a major concern. This unit gets HOT HOT HOT. Even with the fans on max and good airflow under the unit in a cool room. I haven't clocked the actual temps but I burn my legs and fingertips just touching the keyboard. Not kidding, actually burn. After about 3 hrs gaming, I can't even touch the keyboard anymore. I have to put something under it so I can even touch it. I've had it actually turn itself off one time which was super scary and let it cool off for a bit. 3. speaker drivers don't like netflix for some reason. The speakers are actually pretty good for a laptop but netflix on max you seriously can't hear anything. No driver solution I've found works... If I plug in a headset, perfectly clear. Many report of driver issues from other users so beware... it's a thing. Maybe patches later will fix but right now, it's a problem. 4. fingerprint reader... it you think it's a cool feature, great but it doesn't work. In the 3 months I've had it, it maybe recognized me 1 time. I don't even mess with it anymore, it just doesn't read properly. 5. keyboard layout. I get it doesn't have a full size keyboard, but it's missing basic things like a pause, end, home, ect.. Not even with function keys. even my cheap 250.00 work laptop has this so I was really disappointed with this. If your writing things a lot in word, not the laptop for you. 6. back lighting... bottom line, its horrible. I turned mine off because I can actually see the black letting better vs the very very dim white light. 7. screen quality is so so... it's not the best you'll get on the market and it just feels a bit dull most of the time. I think there could have been a better job done there but don't expect stunning HD video. 8. no webcam at all. Yeah, this is a known thing out of the box but I'm regretting not having it now that we are in a WFH age and zoom is all the craze. "hey, why don't you have your video up, your new 1600.00 laptop doesn't have one" shame... Overall, it's a nice build idea but it just doesn't work the way advertised. It's like buying a base model sports car. It's got power, no doubt but you basically take shortcuts on everything else with the laptop in sacrifice.

This is a great laptop. It's super fast! And surprisingly lightweight. A lot of reviews say the fan is loud. I find it no louder than other laptops I've owned. It also has minimal bloatware compared to other machines I've owned, which is nice.

I've been really liking this laptop. It is fast and really smooth. The screen is nice and the keyboard feels great. It is also light weight, but feels durable. I don't love the trackpad, but it is fine. I haven't really gamed that much as I am an Xbox Series X owner, but it ran Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5 and Flight Simulator just fine. I have been running two additional monitors with a USB C adaptor and it works great. I've been running a bunch of programs at the same time and it doesn't stutter at all. Adobe Premier Elements and Quickbooks Desktop are super fast and responsive. The speakers are actually really good also. I've been really happy with it so far.

This laptop is great for gaming performance. Benchmarks are high and framerates in all games are excellent. While the screen is 120hz, it must have a slow response time or something because it can be very blurry when the screen is all over the place while gaming. I think this would make it is bit difficult for FPS games for those that are playing at a high level. While I primarily play fighting games, I can even notice the blur while my character is jumping through the air. Compared to the screen on my MSI GS65, this is nowhere near close. It seems unfortunate that the laptop has such amazing performance, but ultimately is worthless due to the screen blur. Also, the fans always run when plugged in, and sometimes they are blaring even while I'm just browsing a single website. They are unpredictable and irratic. Why is "silent" mode louder than "performance" mode? Don't get me wrong, the performance is great on this laptop. It's just the two nitpicky details of the screen and fans that ruined it for me and I ended up returning it.

A simple to powerfully compact gaming laptop.

This is one of the most powerful gaming laptops in the market. Compact and energy-efficient, this laptop can be flexible from doing simple tasks (browsing, word, excel, etc) to gaming to high productivity (photo, video editing, etc). The downside is the size of the notebook. Currently, this is the only model that comes with these specs and no other model has a Ryzen 9 4000 CPU that I know. If screen size matters then you may have to look somewhere else, but if you can get by with the small 14" screen then this one of the best laptops. Things to consider: If you don't want to carry the 180W charger then a smaller 65W usb-c charger can be used to charge this laptop, but may have to turn off the laptop or stop high process task to simultaneous use and charge. Experiences with this may vary. Personal changes: I've changed the NVMe SSD since it's not the best performing SSD and change to a high-performance NVMe. Future plan is to change ram stick for a high capacity. (This is not necessary for everyone and the laptop is perfect out of the box)

This honestly an amazing laptop. excellent power and battery life, excellent build quality, beautiful styling. My only two gripes are the subpar keyboard backlight and the somewhat spotty fingerprint reader. Other than that, it's an excellent machine for both gaming and productivity

So far, has exceeded my expectations and then some, especially for the price point. So far in a week: Pros: compact, lightweight, value for the money Cons: awkward charging port location (left middle), and only once so far have I had a problem, which was me having to hold the power button for ~30-45 seconds because it would not power on, display lights saying it was in charge or anything, it seemed like it bricked but that wasn’t the case. I’m not sure why I had to do this (maybe some power saving software/hardware glitch) but it’s only happened once and it’s had heavy use since I’ve obtained this guy. I took off one star only because of the mini panic attack for this occurrence, which should be brought to anyone’s attention on how to resolve the problem. Other con would be the heat thrown, but it is a high powered gaming laptop so make sure you have a cooling pad or set it on something to offset this. Will add more as the days go by if needed. Happy holidays!

Great performance and image quality. Very portable as well. It is hard to imagine that such a powerful computer fits in a 14-inch carcass! Gaming is awesome although you need to get used to the screen size. The audio is awesome as well! Minor side down: it doesn't have a webcam.

First laptop they gave me was faulty even though it was certified, but when I went to exchange it, the new one worked super well. Graphics are great, runs smoothly, fans are a little loud but it doesn't matter since I have headphones on, and overall feels great.

    Great (buggy?) gaming laptop

I've had a fair amount of bugs with this laptop - simple things, for example: Occasionally when I put it to sleep, when I turn it back on the screen stays black, there's no way to put it back to sleep, and I have to hold down the power button and forcefully turn it off to get it to work again. I also had a significant glitch once I installed the OS on Day 1 and had to wipe the laptop and try again. However, I have no way of knowing which bugs are with the laptop and which are with Windows 10. Beyond these annoyances, which aren't uncommon but they're not everyday either, it's an excellent laptop. I've never been able to run video games so well, the screen is lovely, the fingerprint sensor is convenient, and the keyboard is nice - and all of this for a lower price than most subpar gaming machines. I wish it had a webcam, and I wish the officially made USB webcam wasn't $90, but I knew those facts when I made my purchase and I'm living with them.

I've been using this laptop for about a month now, and it is pretty much what I wanted it to be. I purchased it for schoolwork, multitasking, and of course gaming. I no longer have to deal with lag, sound problem, and software related issues. I have had a very smooth experience so far. As for gaming, I have only tried Apex Legends and FIFA, which run perfectly fine on moderate settings (have not tested the limits). My only concern has been the temperatures, mainly the external parts of the computer. The keys become very hot when running Apex so I had to switch to an external keyboard. Ambient temperature should also be taken into consideration, when I play in my basement there is a significant difference in the CPU/GPU temps and the temperature of the keyboard and casing. It's a gaming laptop in the end, and cooling is always the biggest concern. Depending on your budget, it is either a bargain for the money or worth the big bucks you pay.

I did a comparison of five 14/15" gaming laptops and this one stood out above the rest...and was the cheapest. Glad I got it. I get 100 FPS on COD using normal settings. Fan is a little loud in performance mode, but nothing horrible...wear headphones. Good battery life. Glad I chose this one.

I bought this computer a few months ago and it came relatively quick. I’ve used the computer everyday to do work and play games. I found no problems with the computer. The fans do get loud and there is no webcam but those things do not effect my usage of the computer. My computer still runs great.
