Great portable laptop for gaming!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The hype is not overblown. This is in fact a very powerful laptop for its size. Alienware has tried this before but was unable to penetrate the market of small form-factor laptops. Asus, however, seems to be having success with this little beast. It keeps a stable 50FPS in the latest Tomb Raider with fans off. How impressive is that? The screen is smooth with 120Hz refresh rate. Although don't expect using this smoothness in gaming. Even desktop monsters like RTX 2080 Ti struggle keeping 120 frames in most titles. This is a nice laptop for those who value portability.

Battery Life Is Amazing - Keyboard Backlight sucks
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything is Great! This laptop will rival anything else in this price point and punches way above its weight class. Only thing that keeps me from rating 5 stars is the keyboard backlighting. It isn't the greatest. Easy to overlook though for such a powerful machine. ALSO the AMD chip in this thing is outstanding. As I am writing this windows power setting estimates i'll have nearly 5 hours of battery life left and the current level of charge is 38%. This thing will crush any other laptop I've seen when you compare battery life.

Buy it ... It's friggin awesome
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop ... Honestly too small for fps games , but it will play them no sweat. Build quality is outstanding. Good battery life . The sound is really good .. not loud but clean. The AMD 8 core Chip is ridiculous , it's like you do a double take ... Your looking at this solid tiny slab of a laptop and wondering how the crap can it chew through such a heavy cpu workload like it's snacking.. it destroys and devastates my desktop ... MIND BLOWN... It has its shortcomings , no camera... But .. bang for the buck .. untouchable

Great laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good, had it around 1 month so far. First gaming laptop that I’ve bought, always had gaming desktops but needed something to take with me. Only thing I don’t like is that it draws so much power for the graphics card that you have to leave it plugged in or it will not run at full capacity while playing games. Web surfing, using apps etc it works amazing, has great battery life when your using it for that. Extremely fast, turning it on and you get to the desktop within seconds with everything loaded and ready to go.

exceptional for the price
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.incredible laptop for the fit and finish...the actual lap and handheld experience is great. the typing has good tactile bump and feels good, although i wish the function button had an easier lock so i could use the macros and media controls easier and hold function only for f-keys. can use dedicated graphics on power or integrated radeon graphics to conserve battery life. missing a few features that would make this perfect, like a slightly better display maybe an IPS QHD such as the 2021 g15 with the 3070

Fantastic and inexpensive
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My son loves it! Previously purchased same model but used and worked fantastic too but was louder than this new one. This model is pretty powerful so make sure you have an efficient cooling fan. Our first one that was used was purchased in August but returned in October because son slacked on at home school then picked grades back up so decided to purchase a new one this time. Very cool sleek look. We did our research prior to purchasing. Compared several top laptops and felt this one gave us the most for our money without breaking the bank.

Very Nice Little Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent laptop for the price. Keystroke and trackpad are excellent compared to a lot of other laptops. Size is small and compact with a nice finish that doesn't attract fingerprints. The fingerprint reader works fairly. Screen quality is okay, and the speakers aren't anything to write home about. 4 stars because I bought mine open box and didn't realize that the charger didn't come with it. Lesson learned- look for the small individual notes for open box items before customer service lectures you for not reading them.

Excellent Value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed a computer for video editing and computer has been great. My last computer was a 15" Macbook Pro, and I think the G14 has the edge in nearly everything - even build quality. Great keyboard and speakers, 140 Hz screen with freesynch is sharp, etc. My one frustration, along with everyone else, is the keyboard backlighting - slightly uneven lighting and difficult to see keys at an angle. Fantastic value for $1400 - Very powerful compact computer.

Really powerful. Also really loud.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this laptop. As with every purchase though the small things can be really iratating. If you watch or read any of the reviews online they are all true. The keyboard is really dim. No webcam is especially annoying as a college student in only online classes. It is super loud all the time. However it really shines when it comes to plain performance. It's fast and as a person who will be buy a Mac, I appreciate the aesthetic. I only play Minecraft so this has been a great if expensive laptop for me. Maybe wait till it goes on sale.

With great expectation comes disappointment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is amongst the once-in-a-while rare products that I genuinely anticipated. Heading into it with a tailwind of hype, I was expecting a balanced, thoughtfully designed laptop. Everything seemed to check out on the reviews and spec sheets. After experiencing various quality issues with my previous laptops from Dell, HP and Microsoft - I figured why not give ASUS a shot, maybe they could break this bad streak. That was until I unboxed the G14. The unit came with scratches on the four corners of the bottom plate. Although minor, it didn’t give a good first impression on QC and reaffirms the gap in quality between Apple and PC hardware. But since migrating to PC I have come to accept hardware compromises for software compatibility. I decided to withhold my judgement until I put the unit to use. More issues abound. The trackpad was instantly wobbly to the point that it was vibrating with each click. The screen had a visible light bleed at the bottom right corner, its brightness was much lower than what most pro reviewers stated (285 nits vs avg. 325 nits) and there is visible ghosting. The fans ran incessantly. It’s a powerful little machine that’s been compromised by poor execution. I’m willing to give ASUS vision of mobile gaming another shot but not with this damaged product that I have in my hands.

Posted .Dear thoitrinh,
I'm sorry to hear that your machine has multiple issues. That is absolutely not the kind of experience we want any of our customers to have. Can you please send me your laptop's serial number so that I can investigate your case for quality control? Based on your description of the issue, I recommend returning the unit to Best Buy as soon as possible. Please reach out to me at [email protected] and include case #N200539159 in your email for reference.
Thank you for choosing ASUS!
Best regards,

Small and powerful

Awesome gaming laptop for the price!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.G14 is an incredible laptop for the price. I had to factory reset 5 times because of errors and blue screens, but all were issues with software not hardware. Anyone looking to buy this laptop should do the following to avoid going through the hassle I went through: 1. After updating bios I would recommend doing a factory reset. If you don't, your virtualization may not work 2. Turn off varibright in AMD Radeon Settings Lite app. It's supposed to vary screen brightness depending on your content, but it messes up things and causes black screens 3. Uninstall AMD GameFirst VI. It's supposed to prioritize network speeds for gaming, but decreases your overall speeds. I was getting 20Mbps less 4. Do NOT update Nvidia driver to 451.48 as it is not optimized for DX12 updates in Windows update 2004. It'll lower your performance in some games 5. Do NOT update Windows to 2004. It has a lot of bugs. Update to 1909 6. Open command prompt/powershell as admin and run this command: powercfg.exe -attributes sub_processor perfboostmode -attrib_hide It will unlock 'processor performance boost mode' option in 'processor power management' in Advanced power settings. Make a new power plan in power options. Use 'high performance' plan as a template to create from. Go to 'processor performance boost mode' and change the setting from 'aggressive' to 'disabled'. This will disable the turbo boost to 4.4GHz for this new plan. Use this plan when gaming. You will get 20C cooler processor temperature and much better acoustics. I made a batch script to change between performance and gaming power plan and set hotkeys to run it for easily switching between both. Happy Gaming!!

Great laptop.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ROG Zephyrus G14 is great... its small so I can take it any where and big enough that I can play game or do my work with out compromising my view... The G14 is fast on most of the application I run and smooth. The key board is responsive however the backlit is bit dim but don't bother me too much. Only thing I wish I had more is USB plug and if the DC cable was in the end or back of the unit rather then at the middle of the unit. Only had the unit for little less then a month but so far it awesome.

Amazing laptop an
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just picked it up yesterday when I saw the price drop. I've never had a gaming laptop before and this is the best laptop I've ever used. It can get loud while gaming( I tried GTA V, Witcher 3 on it) but the performance is unmatched at this price point! I am getting around 5-6 hours in battery time(non-gaming) but I've seen other people getting way better results. Will try tweaking the settings. The backlight is a design fail as white keys on white backlight make the keys harder to read, I just keep it off.

Great gaming computer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a little small but it runs just as well as my wife's desktop, which has a GTX 1070. Very sturdy build and very light for the performance.

Great laptop for streaming and photo editing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the latest version of Photoshop and Lightroom installed on this laptop, and everything works great, even on high-res work. Great product to stream high-res gaming to Twitch or Youtube. Nice to have if your lifestyle keeps you on the move. The only issue I've had is opening Chrome too soon after startup. The screen goes dark and I have to restart. Rare occurrence and often just a few extra minutes was needed.

So fast ... so very very fast! Great with VR
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been postponing a laptop purchase for a while. And I've been a Linux/Mac user for years. But after a recent purchase of an Oculus Quest, I was in need of a system that could support some VR apps. I also travel quite a bit and have no interest in having a dedicated standalone gaming system. This laptop fits the bill. It is light and so very powerful. It plays VR games and streams them to my Quest via Virtual Desktop (wireless) with ease. I definitely recommend the 1TB as games fill up the hard drive quick. So far so good here!
