best specs and no better price point
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the specs on this laptop are fantastic and when i pulled it out of the box i was not disappointed, the quality is excellent. the keyboard feels satisfying and the backlight is subtle but effective in a dimly lit room. it games nearly as well as my desktop and the bulit in NONtouch high refresh monitor is excellent. and i actually prefer my laptop to not have a camera facing me all of the time. its creepy, but i could see that being a deal breaker for media people. for mid range gaming and productivity this device is excellent.

The best laptop for work and gaming
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Quite literally the best laptop for college students. It has the processing power to use any application for either art or STEM students, and it has a monster GPU for running video games. So you can use it for any school work then once you're done, you can immediately shift to getting your game on! Also, the battery is amazing, so no need to worry about plugging it in during lectures!

Great little piece of kit.
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this during the Holiday season and it has held up well. Performance has been the standout quality of this laptop. I don't do much gaming but for photo editing and other processor intensive tasks, this computer is probably over-powered and you'd be well served. Upgraded to 40 GB RAM and I doubt I will be looking to upgrade to a new computer for the next two to three years. Build Quality is excellent - dense and built to low tolerances. Good value for what you're getting at sale price.

Lots of potential....but has QC issues
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll skip the lengthy review since many people have already described the pros/cons of the device and jump straight to my issues: 1. Thermal throttling - The 4900HS is a beast of a CPU, but it likes to run really hot. Even with games like Forza HZ4 and details set to Med/High, I frequently see the CPU spike up to 105C even after few mins of gameplay, resulting in massive FPS drops. This is with the Turbo profile and the laptop kept on a pad in a well ventilated room. Reinstalling drivers, system restore etc. did not fix it which leads me to believe that either my device has faulty thermals or this needs fixing from AMD/Asus. 2. My device has a noticeable bulge on the bottom panel to which the only recommendation from Asus and Best Buy has been to return the device. Not sure how that passed QC. 3. Fan speeds and noise - I can understand the fan speeds/noise when gaming but the fans should be silent when the the device is not really being utilized. The low pitch whine when the fans are running are low speed is also quite irritating. Also, while Armory Crate offers manual fan curve settings, they don't really work as intended (likely a bug?). I'm probably going to return mine due to the QC issues I've seen so far. This is a great device and a great idea that I'll likely revisit it once the issues are ironed out. PS: It would be great to get Pg Up/Dn mapped to Ctrl Up/Dn or some other key shortcut (in case someone at Asus is reading this).

Great value/ hassle free.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So honestly, I'm very satisfied. The lap top has a great balance! I own several computers " gaming" yes desk tops for the same price are more powerful, however, there no issues with the unit... definitely not. No over heating...etc. You would be hard pressed to fine a desk top, that runs this smooth for the price. Definitely if you spend a little extra you can find a desk top unit that will kick butt, although I can bring this unit anywhere and play with the best! Great buy...No hassle unit!

Overall good with caveats
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While this unit is very impressive given at this point in 2020 it offers the most power in the smallest form factor on a windows machine at this price point. I won't bother reviewing specs as they are easily searchable - in summary its a beast. That said, some of the negatives you may read about resulted in me returning this. For starters, the keyboard is just awful - the worst I have ever seen. The backlighting is uneven and when combined with the silver keys, actually washes them out in low light. I do enough typing at night or in low lighting that for me this was a simple dealbreaker. The port layout could be better. All of your USB-A are on the right side which can cause interference with a mouse. Finally the case, while it feels good, doesn't feel $1400 solid in my opinion. I wanted to love this, but I knew going in that it might not work out. It's still a four star unit given what it offers, but those draw backs prevent it from being a five star, and prevent it from staying with me.

Fantastic gaming notebook
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are thinking about it... Just buy it. Fantastic notebook fast crazy fast and the 2060 max q really performs. Bought a laptop back in February for 1500 and I used it like 3 times. I have not put this thing down since I set it up. The new Ryzen runs wayyyyyyy cooler than my i7 did and much much smoother. I knew I should've waited for these to drop. Its all I wanted and more, I build and sell custom gaming desktops and this is now my go to mobile system plays CODMW great...

Great Little Machine
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little thing is a beast! So far it has tackled any task that I've thrown at it. Only minor complaint would be that it can be a little noisy (nowhere near as bad as some people have made it out to be) and the back lighting on the keyboard could be better.

Awesome laptop, awesome performance
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.AMD R9-4900HS is the most powerful mobile CPU in the world. Paired with RTX2060. I enjoyed the speed and it never made me lag.

Very good!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't get me wrong, this is an amazing laptop for the price. It outperformed my macbook pro, has amazing graphics and audio, and is all around great quality. However, that being said it does get extremely hot while gaming. The performance is still there, but this temp does bother me. A lot of people recommend upgrading the thermal paste, but I'm not one to open up a laptop. Still, I might return it for a laptop that stays cooler. Still, 4/5. Would recommend.

Amazing machine, but be aware of GPU fan issue
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Incredible laptop, very impressed by the cooling and battery life as well as the gaming capability of this thing. Never have I had a laptop stay so cool while gaming or a battery last so long! Now Having said that as well as the reason im not giving this 5 stars as if this wasnt a problem I would have easily given it 5 stars is that the GPU fan after maybe 3 months became quite loud. Assuming this was maybe debris in the fan causing it to work harder I opened the bottom and cleaned out the vent and the fan etc very well. But the problem persisted until eventually it seems the fan just stopped working. Now Im going to have to take in for repairs etc and be without my laptop for school so this is quite an annoyance which I hope I do not end up having to send out to be repaired (pretty sure i will). As of now Im running a cooling pad underneath thje laptop that is very good so It does the job of keeping it cool enough but after 3 months this should definitely not be an issue. Also, after googling the problem it seems as though this model laptop has issues with this exact fan as I found a forum with quite a few others experiencing the same problem after a very short time of ownership. Again I love this laptop and I would 100% recommend it but be aware of this fan issue and maybe take care of the problem at first sight.

Great battery+High performance when needed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Lets start off with the performance my model(4900hs+Rtx 2060) scored almost 4320 points in cinebench r20 WOW. That is faster than my desktop Ryzen 5 3600x. The RTX 2060 gpu performed great as well. It can play beat saber at above 70 fps 99% of the time and play any game in my steam library at High or above in 1080P. Now lets talk about the battery. On average I get about 7 hours of run time with light loads mixed with youtube streaming. This is with full brightness though so you could get more.

Incredible laptop for the price/size.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.More on the budget/midcore side of things as far as gaming laptops are concerned, but it's a powerful little guy despite that. It's really hard to beat the performance that you're getting in such a small form-factor. If you want a *very* portable laptop that can run games quite well, this is probably a safe bet for you. As others have mentioned, the backlight on the keys is just not that great. This isn't really a big problem for me, but it is definitely something that I have noticed.

Wonderful Mobile Gaming Laptop!
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this laptop! I purchased it to perform multiple tasks like my schoolwork (currently in a Cybersecurity program), for gaming and for general use. It has performed so well and I have not had any problems with it since getting it back in July. It’s specs are so good for the price and love it’s smaller size too for better mobility. I would highly recommend this laptop for anyone who wants a mobile gaming laptop or a computer that’s pretty comparable to a MacBook Pro.

The Perfect Balance of Size, Price and Power.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After years of using different gaming laptops and desktops, I feel like I really found the device I will use for years to come. The 4000 Series AMD Processor has been amazing so far. Since I purchased this device, I played through a run of Outer Worlds on Game Pass and found the following; Frame Rate 60-75 FPS ( I capped it at 60 to avoid dips) at native 1080p (which at 14'' produces a very sharp image) all settings on high. The GPU ran at 60-80 degrees celsius which is normal. It is important to note that this temperature triggers the fan curve to run the fan which can get loud. Don't panic! The temperature is sustained as intended and more importantly frame rate remains constant. I have recommended this laptop to anyone looking for a great affordable gaming laptop. While there are "Gaming" laptops that are below $1,000, gifters beware, those devices are intended for "Esports" games like Overwatch and Fortnite. Additionally, other less expensive laptops have less comprehensive cooling solutions meaning that they cannot maintain performance. On a final note, this laptop is primed and ready to play Cyberpunk 2077 which will probably be the biggest gaming release for the year. While the game is not out yet to check benchmarks for framerates, this laptop meets and exceeds all of the Recommended Specifications outlined by CD Project Red, the developers for game.

The G14 is a MacBook killer!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A surprising extremely powerful laptop crammed inside a surprisingly small design. While I'm a casual gamer, it's graphic card is amazing. And thanks to its eight-core processor, it’s one of the best content creation and video-editing laptops you can buy at this price. The speakers could have used some more gusto, and the back-lighting on the white and sliver model needs to be stronger or another color. For a laptop this small and light, the G14 has record-breaking performance.

More than I need but I love it
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for a friend after I got one for myself a couple of months ago. I was looking to buy one to play Age of Empires DE and this is definitely an overkill. Still, I'm happy with the purchase as it's light enough to carry and has enough horsepower for AoE and anything else I might use it for. I looked through online reviews before purchasing it and it comes recommended from most of the reviewers. The latest generation should be even better

Great laptop, solid performance and aesthetics
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an all around great unit with very solid performance. PROS The processor is a beast and this thing chews through even the most demanding tasks. Great for gaming, the 2060 Max Q doesn't quite measure up to the performance of the desktop variant (or even other Max Q models) but it's more then enough for 1080P max gaming. You'll easily see 60 FPS in even the most demanding games (RDR, Odyssey, Metro Exodus) and you'll max out the screens 120hz refresh rate in most else. The monitor has good color accuracy, although the backlighting is a bit uneven. It's fine for media and basic creative tasks though. My spyder measured it at 98% SRGB. If you are looking for a dedicated machine for media editing it's not ideal, in my case I use it for quick editing and sorting, then plug in a dedicated monitor when accuracy matters. It's response time isn't great though, and I have seen some ghosting Sixteen GB of RAM is plenty for gamers, heavy office loads and really most people. If you are big on video editing, or are dealing with a massive number of layers in Photoshop you might want to look at upgrading it. But for the most part this machine is great for multitasking and basic RAM intensive work. (BTW, you can upgrade one slot of RAM in this machine with a stick larger then the soldered 8GB, but only the first 16GB will be dual channel. A small compromise, but worth noting). Finally the keyboard feels really nice. It's got a nice (non-audible) click and good travel. The back light is unusable though, but I'll get to that. This compares well to a ThinkPad in that department. Oh and the understated aesthetics are great. I use mine as a work laptop, and pulling out most "gaming" laptops in a meeting would be embarrassing. This machine looks good, and I personally love that it isn't covered with ridiculous logos and RGB crap. CONS It has a few issues though. The first thing you'll notice is that the fans can get pretty loud, and the pitch is high and quite frankly a bit annoying. This is a bit par for the course on gaming laptops, but there is a fix. It is cooling a lot. Along with that, the temps do get pretty extreme when under load. You don't want to use this on your lap or a blanket when it's running hard, it needs that airflow. That said there is a fix for both these problems. Look up disabling boost and do so. This will drop processor temps 20c, even when gaming. With no real change in performance (I lost like 1 FPS in Forza). This does effectively lock your processor at a slightly lower speed, so if you're rendering and need the performance flip it back on. NBD. People have also created a tool for this laptop on github called atrofac-gui that basically allows you to run custom fan curves. With boost disabled I can effectively turn the fan off most of the time and my processor sits at about 37c doing light tasks (web browsing, youtube, basic office stuff). The keyboard lighting sucks, just turn it off and pretend it doesn't exist. It has tons of leaks, and white lights shining through silver keys make it tougher to read the keyboard. But the white keys/black text provide plenty of contrast and you can easily use it in a pitch black room with the ambient light from the monitor. There is no webcam. That it some bull crap for a modern day laptop. Oh well. There are also some very picky details I can mention. On my unit the fingerprint scanner is slightly off center in it's hole and some of the keys aren't perfectly aligned. Not big deals, and honestly pretty good for a machine from Asus. Overall this is a great laptop at an excellent price and I would recommend it for most people. You will have to do some tinkering to deal with the heat/noise issue though, so points off for ease of use, and the keyboard lighting, lack of webcam and small details bring it's quality rating down. But if you can deal with those things, this is a very compelling laptop. A great daily driver for someone who needs a laptop for school/work, needs processor performance but also want's to game on it.

Rivals Razer Blade stealth
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This computer is perfect for my needs. Light, small form factor and crazy good internals. I wish they would have spelled it out a little better in the product description that the Anime Matrix isn't included but that wasn't a deal breaker. This thing is ready to pump out some FPS. I picked this up on sale for about $1200 and I'm glad I did. The next day, the price went up.
