Best Bang For Buck Gaming PC 11Hr Battery
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The performance of this small laptop is staggering, it outpaces my desktop in certain tasks. It does not have a webcam but I always put tape over it anyway. And a brighter display would be appreciated. BUT!! If you consider the horsepower and 11hr BATTERY LIFE all is forgiven. Best Laptop ever.

Impressive
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This machine is a beast. No, it’s not a desktop. Nor do I expect it to be. But as far as a laptop goes, it’s seriously impressive. I’m running outriders on ultra setting with no issues. It does run hot. Really hot. Get an external fan. By and far best bang for the buck.

Great College Computer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our son needed a laptop for college that was robust enough for video editing. This is small and light enough to be very portable but powerful enough to do the heavy lifting when needed.

Wow! That's a lot of speed for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this for my son for Christmas. He loves it. It is fast. It's got a really good screen and a solid GPU. I've recommended it to others who have been amazed at the performance for the price. Great little laptop. For the power it has the battery life is really good as well.

Killer Price to Performance, Compact Size
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: I've done a lot of research, and after looking at information regarding Intel's current lineup, I was almost set on getting a core i-9 laptop. That is to say until AMD partnered with ASUS on this new CPU which ASUS has exclusivity until the end of Q3. This thing is insane. The CPU power is stronger than a core i9 10900K, and that's blisteringly fast, while the power draw is significantly lower. On top of that, for Black Friday Best Buy gave me a $250 credit back on my card due to the price match guarantee, so I'm pretty happy. The RTX 2060 isn't a slouch, either, and the 120Hz display is excellent. Furthermore, the colour calibration out of the box is great. I average about 11 hours of battery life on youtube and doing light to moderate productivity tasks (word, excel, etc.). The small form factor (14") and generally light weight for a gaming PC (about 1.54 Kg/3.4 lbs) compared to the competition allow this laptop to go with me virtually anywhere. Turbo mode is also a killer feature when plugged into the battery to get great FPS on ultra settings for Hades, Overwatch, etc. Build quality is good. The hinge brings the keyboard up about 15 degrees or so (maybe less, I didn't do independent testing). This allows better ergonomics and far superior cooling for both the GPU and CPU fans. The keyboard is killer: I average about 82 wps on 10fastfingers using an MS Surface Book 2 and was able to get up to 96. Oh, and the touchpad is very responsive. Now on to the downsides: The screen is matte (which may be a pro or a con depending on who you are), but that also means that it isn't a touchscreen. There is no webcam, which may be a detractor to a lot of people, but looking at most laptop webcams is visual torture for me, so I invested in a Razer Kiyo (use some of the money you saved on this PC to go to that). The microphones are OK, but again, just use the mics in an aftermarket camera. Battery life while gaming (not using the brick) in performance mode is OK for a gaming laptop like this, which is to say about 2 hours. Not great, but definitely not terrible given the massive battery capacity this computer has. The magnesium chassis feels plasticky on the top, but that just takes some time to get used to. It really only has that feeling when powder-coated (like the top), so it isn't a major detractor. Finally, the backlighting, which isn't terrible, just plain bad. If you're using this laptop in situations that aren't complete darkness, I recommend turning it off. The backlighting isn't strong, and there is a tendency for the light itself to bleed from underneath the keycaps, which obscures any vision of the actual key letters in certain lighting situations. However, I use this laptop in my generally dark office with backlighting on and I don't have very many issues with it. Overall: I'd give this laptop a 9.5/10. A lot of the downsides can easily be compensated, and if you're a professional who likes to game in their free time without the massive weight or chassis size of other gaming PCs, this is a killer deal.

What I was Looking For
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was planning to purchase this laptop for a while, for the value and portability going to college. It hits all of the checkmarks that I was looking for. The only concerns I have are the fan noises when I'm playing games. But it stays pretty quiet when I'm just browsing/doing homework.

Great for a gamer on the go!
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I travel A LOT for work and was looking for a PC that could keep up with newer games coming out as well as be durable/portable enough for lots of air travel. I mainly play PSO2 and it runs it at max settings better than my Xbox One X. Lots of NVME storage will cut down your loading times and the processor/graphics card do wonders. Drawbacks are the screen, could be a little better but it is full HD and 120Hz which I do not notice that much since it is so small. It also runs very hot on max settings which is typical in a PC of this form factor. I easily remedy this with a cooling pad (I use a Kootek). My choices were this or a Razer Blade. The Razer seems of better quality, but it would not have aged as well as this machine plus the cost was significantly more. The G14 is pretty durable and will last you for years. I also suggest a Fjallraven Kanken 13" laptop sleeve for protection as it is a perfect fit and great quality/protection. Happy gaming :)

Powerful, Portable, and Just Perfect.
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a filmmaker, but I am also a gamer. For a long time, I have been wishing for a laptop that was powerful enough to edit 4K video and play games at high graphic settings with high framerates and great battery life for productive use. This is that laptop. I love it. I will note, however, that there was a bit of a struggle to optimize this laptop to remove its problems. To make this machine perfect, you have to update the BIOS, the drivers, and do a quick processor configuration. I found all of my workarounds on the Zephyrus G14 subreddit. The most famous problem of this laptops is the black screen. I did encounter it in my first 10 minutes of using this laptop, but once I updated the BIOS I've never had the problem since. When gaming, especially on COD Warzone, the CPU and GPU temps can get really high, but after disabling the processor boost, the processor is still maintaining it's 2.9/3.0 hz while dropping 15-20 degrees celsius. Sometimes the keyboard gets a little hot when gaming on Warzone. The battery life is amazing, I get a full day of web-browsing and video consumption. The speakers are amazing, They are the best speakers I have ever heard on a laptop, period. My only nitpick is the keyboard backlighting. The light isn't bright enough for the white model, but having it turned off is not a problem for me. I've never had an anti-glare screen on a laptop before, but it's actually awesome. Also, regarding the "ghosting" on this panel, I'm not a competitive gamer but I haven't experienced/noticed it. I edit on Resolve and it's super fast, like wow. That's all I have to say. I have been searching for the perfect laptop for years, and I think I finally found it. Hope this helps!

Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 Gaming Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop is the perfect size for my backpack. But don't be fooled by its small size. This laptop packs more than enough power to fuel most games. The keyboard has a nice feel to it. My favorite part of this laptop is the details and fan placement to help keep it cool.

Great computer but loud fan
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this computer! I haven’t had any issues playing high demand games, boots up quickly, doesn’t get too hot. The only caveat is that the fan is REALLY loud. Loud enough that you need to speak up to be heard over it. You get used to it, but it’s definitely very noisy.

Excellent Price Performance value
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I have a MacBook Pro for development work and general graphics. I've had a Lenovo Yogo for general PC tasks and video encoding that is better optimized with NVidia graphics. I dropped it while it was charging and bent out its charging port. I'd have to be very careful in how to jiggle the cord to get it to charge. Being fed up, I saw that this smaller laptop was on sale. Having a new and faster graphics card, as well as an AMD Ryzen are impressive specs for a 14" laptop. It seemed like a no brainer for me, as it has a HDMI port out (no more dongles if I use this as a portable media computer). I was ditching a touch screen IPS 4K monitor from the Lenovo, but I find I tend to use a graphics tablet and have a Retina display on my MacBook for graphics (where I do illustration, animation, photography). My quandry now is if I take the Asus as my all in one portable laptop or the MacBook (15"). Maybe if I'm going on a trip I should take both: the MacBook for photography and Asus for media device. One other factor in my decision is that I'm getting into gaming: I have gotten a PS5, and with XBOX Series X also in high demand, I thought I could also try out the trial for XBOX Game Pass. The catalogue is certainly impressive and IMO a better deal than PS online offerings. I also have an Oculus Quest 2. Setting up Steam and Steam VR wasn't hard. I have an older hotas joystick, but eventually found Windows 10 drivers for it.....so I find it is awesome at playing Star Wars Squadrons VR. For other games, I'm finding performance is good running HDMI to my OLED (4K HDR). I know the performance wouldn't be as good as a desktop config (and if you can find a GeForce 3080), but performance seems good for XBox Pass games I've tried. I'd say the only negative about heavy game play is that the computer can get noisy (it has quite beefy thickness and good ventilation, but still gets hot: though a good sign that it favors performance vs throttling). I also switch to performance mode for games....needless to say, I would recommend leaving the computer plugged in with the supplied power (the laptop will also charge with USB-C, but it doesn't accept as high a current). This is the first laptop I've gotten with a 1TB M.2 SSD. I would say that would be a nice feature.....but I've already started running out of space due to games. Luckily, its USB-C supports USB 3.1 2-2 (so theoretical maximum speed of my SanDisk Extreme Pro external SSD can be reached). For touch typing, I find the keyboard to be comfortable. The keys are nice and raised, and are large enough to have quick touch typing. If you rely on back lighting, though.....it's not very good. Possibly because the keys are a light plastic, there's bleed through with the lighting (and when I looked at reviews, they also complained about the lighting technology). My Lenovo and MacBook have thumbprint readers that are quick and reliable. The MacBook also has the thumbprint reader be a power button. This Asus also tries to have the power button also be a thumbprint reader. Maybe because the button is so big, most of the time it does miss your thumbprint. I find battery life is something that is highly variable. If you are in silent mode, setting a dim brightness, and not doing intensive apps....then battery life is very good for a Windows system. I still find my MacBook to be better about battery management for general tasks and software development (and it has an Intel I9 processor). I know for some, I'm drawing unfair comparisons since my MacBook costs more than the Asus. Value wise, the Asus is great. As a portable multimedia or gaming system, it's also a no brainer. Design wise, I appreciate that the Asus is more gamer oriented....and designed for ventilation is also much thicker than my MacBook (or 2 in 1 or slim PC laptops). Others may want something slimmer if all they are looking for is a general purpose laptop (Chromebooks or beginning Intel chipsets being cheaper: while sacrificing performance).

Great laptop!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop! Is light and comfortable to carry in a backpack. Very satisfied with the performance of the processor and the speakers sound incredible. On the other hand, the charger is big and a bit heavy. The battery does not last as long as a macbook pro for example.

Light weight excellence.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The cost for power on this laptop is second to none. It is also the best value on the market on top of that right now. It is lightweight so it is very mobile and on top of that it has 1 TB solid state drive so everything you do runs very quickly. Definitely a great purchase.

Value for Gaming, but Quirks Hold it Back
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s quick, sleek, and reasonably comfortable to use. Useful range of ports. Power management is a little wonky— battery burns up quick and the pc won’t play nice with my powered usb hub. Screen is crisp and bright, but color is a little ‘blown out,’ with low contrast that loses fine gray edges around things like text fields and UI buttons. Screen produces strange patterns when reproducing video while Windows blue-light reduction is running. Asus software adds little value to the experience. Good ‘value buy’ for gamers, but quirks like battery drain and screen contrast make it harder to recommend for general use.

Excellent Product!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have been using for a month and literally loves it. I got the model without the LED matrix panel and with the 60hz 1080p screen, but still, this is awesome. I can totally feel the power of the ryzen 9 cpu it came with. I would say that the RTX 2060 max-q is a shortcoming given it's a several years old card, though. But as a whole, I love the purchase. The delivery was fast as well, given the whole pandemic going on. And by the way, it is cheaper than what Amazon has to offer.

Dope
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far very pleased. Asus included software is useful. The keyboard backlighting is uneven. The keyboard feel is great however. Runs hot if you close the lid for sleep--likely modifiable in bios or settings, but I just shut it down before closing as or now.

Runs extremely hot
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I rarely game on laptops, been feeling lazy and wanted to game while relaxing in bed. For $1150 this is probably the best "decent" gaming laptop you can buy. GPU is 65w, so please YouTube benchmarks videos. When using the laptop keyboard while gaming, you will realize it kind of burns your fingers.. but its alright, nothing too extreme.. CPU runs 75-85c while gaming (high settings) GPU runs 68-80c while gaming (high settings) No camera, no ethernet port, can't change keyboard light colors Like I said, for the price.. you cannot beat this.. but it runs so hot... I have a laptop cooling pad, blasting air and this machine still runs so hot
