Very powerful for a laptop. It gets unusually hot under load. You will need to put it on a cooling pad. Do not put it on your lap to game.

Best of all worlds.....I have owned several gaming laptops and can happily report this is the best so far for several reasons. First gaming laptop that does not feel cheap in your hands. Extremely nice build, solid yet small form factor. Screen is excellent with a matte finish that is just enough to prevent the glare with no degradation of the picture quality. Small bezels contribute to small form factor. Finger print scanner almost always works for me with no problems. Unbelievable power for gaming or video editing but when not doing either of those feel free to use for watching videos or productivity work and expect similar battery life as many Ultrabook's (6-10 hours). You will not find this kind of efficiency on most other gaming laptops which are generally tied to a wall outlet. Keyboard on this laptop feels much like you find on the Lenovo professional laptops, the best you will find on a laptop in my opinion. Some reviews mention uneven backlighting on the keyboard, this has not been my experience. Backlight gets very bright (adjustable) and remains even across all keys. Also find the characters are much easier to read in high or low light conditions because they are silver with black text vs black with grey text. Sound quality is amazing on this laptop, gets plenty loud and does a good job of creating a surround experience when streaming video. Have played several current games on this machine and it preforms like a champ without getting too loud or slowing down due to heat throttling. Built in utility for limiting how much the battery is charged to prolong the life of the battery, just adjust it as needed depending on how you use the laptop. I have had this laptop over a month and though I did not need another laptop got this on sale and could not pass it up and I am glad I didn't, this thing is a beast but can double duty as a daily driver or for entertainment due it's size and energy efficiency (when not gaming). Would highly recommend this machine and if past experience with Asus holds true this machine will last a long time with no trouble and it will take that long before the average machine can come close to the performance of this power house.

Fastest, most powerful, most versatile 14" laptop

This is the fastest, most powerful, most versatile, highest value laptop I've ever owned, and it could easily serve as my only computer. Given how many premium computers I've owned over the years, that’s quite a statement. The closest competition I've experienced is the much larger and more expensive Lenovo X1 Extreme. In one word - Wow. It’s not perfect, and certainly not for everyone given its blend of looks, capabilities, size, weight, and features. But it’s a "Goldilocks" computer for me. G14 Pro's o Design, build quality, materials, and components are all excellent o Full magnesium alloy body with great fit and finish o Fastest 14" laptop currently available (Nov 2020) by a large margin - incredibly responsive, and significantly faster than my 15.6" Lenovo X1 Extreme at about a third the price. o Great non glare, color accurate screen with plenty of brightness and a fast 120hz refresh rate o Great selection of ports and works great with my docking stations o Great 1.7mm travel backlit chicklet keyboard with 4 levels of lighting o Easily upgradable memory and SSD o Great battery life o Small, thin and light enough for great mobile use - 14" is a sweet spot size for me o Power, charge, and disk activity lights (first disk activity light I've seen in many years) o Very stable and useful software and drivers o Fast and easy to use "restore system to factory" feature G14 Con's o I might have preferred the Eclipse Grey color, but it wasn't available in the configuration I wanted, and the Moonlight White color is decent and doesn't show fingerprints like darker colors. o I would have preferred it to come with Windows Pro rather than Windows Home, and come with 32gb of RAM instead of 16, but these were easy to upgrade. o I would have preferred it came with a built in webcam, and SD card slot, but USB versions of these are available. o I wish the backlighting on the keyboard was a bit more legible in some conditions, but it's adjustable. The grey model does not have this issue. o I wish it supported 100 watts of USB-C power delivery rather than 65 watts, but 65 watts is ok for light use, and I can always drag along its 180watt power brick if needed. o It can get a bit hot and noisy under load, but during normal productivity use, it's pretty quiet and cool (it runs significantly cooler (20C) than my Lenovo X1 Extreme)

I got this computer for video editing. The reviews for this laptop across the internet were very positive and both myself and my son have owned ASUS computers in the past with great results. With the AMD Ryzen 9 and 16GB RAM, this machine is rocket fast and I am looking forward to using it as I learn more about making videos. While some people are critical of not coming with a webcam, I don't see that as a limitation as most laptop cams are not the greatest and a generic camera can be had for a relatively cheap price.

Since I bought this laptop I can’t walk into any store without somebody recognizing me as a hardcore gamer. They see i’m no schmuck, and that I have a high KD that is unmatched. I can also recommend this laptop to anybody who wants to have sex. I haven’t had a night to myself in quite some time. Although I miss quiet nights where I’m busy playing on a slower, more pathetic computer, I am still able to appreciate the power this laptop holds. I am forever grateful. Thanks ASUS for making a laptop that’s fit for a true gamer.

The laptop is really good! Seriously. Although it can be loud at times, the chassis of the laptop can get extremely hot. To the point where when you're using the keyboard, if your finger touches the metal between the keys it'll actually burn. Be very careful of that. Long Story: This is mostly the fault of BestBuy and their Geek Squad. I actually made the mistake of trusting "Geek Squad Certified Excellent Condition Used" stuff and bought the laptop used. I got it shipped to me, I open it up. The laptop is different colored from the one online. Didn't think too much of it. Turned it on. Opened file manager. A half terabyte ssd and a full terabyte of hdd? This laptop is supposed to have a whole terabyte of ssd. Questionable....I checked the task manager, instead of a 2060 Max-Q....I see "GTX 1650". I got a completely different laptop. I called BestBuy customer service, and I'm told that I can't exchange it for another used laptop of the correct type because it was "close enough" to the laptop I ordered. Instead I was told I could return it, so I went to my nearest Bestbuy a couple miles away. I tried to return it, they said that I couldn't return it and that I had to wait a full-day for their system to update to say it was delivered. Even though in their app it said it was delivered, I'm not sure how outdated BestBuy's system is. But I'm not sure how their app can update faster than their system. Yet I'm especially unsure how Geek Squad could possibly mess up the clear difference between the two laptops. The box clearly has a picture of the correct laptop on it, and yet the laptop inside was of a different color. The sticker on the box itself said it had a 2060 Max-Q, but I got a 1650 instead. I genuinely am confused by how such a mistake could happen, and all that had happened honestly genuinely showed me that buying from BestBuy used is a terrible idea. Save yourself the headache, buy new.

The best all-around gaming laptop on the market

First off the base clock speed of the CPU is 3.0GHz not whatever it says in this listing. The pros: -Amazing processing power, can multi-task like a beast and always feels really snappy no matter what I'm doing -Battery life is incredible for a gaming laptop -The gaming/graphics performance is really good, and good enough for what I use it for -Works really well with USB-C docking stations. I have it driving keyboard, mouse, webcam, headset, Gigabit Ethernet and 2 extra monitors via DisplayPort (1920x1080@165Hz & 2560x1080@200Hz) all off of a single USB-C cable. -The keyboard is good (personally usually have it docked so don't use it all that much) but it's pretty good overall -Speakers are decent but didn't blow me away Cons: -If you only care about the "maximum fps/gaming performance" look elsewhere. This is a gaming laptop but does so much more as well. That being said, the 2060 "Max-Q" isn't really as powerful as something you might find on a more gaming focused PC -Fingerprint reader is so-so and often doesn't work -Gets hot (to be expected from a laptop with these specs though) -When the fans ramp up they get decently loud -No webcam. For this price it seems like they could have squeezed one in there but oh well. -No Ethernet port (not a drawback for most people) Final thoughts: If you're looking for a gaming laptop, and you also want to do productivity tasks/streaming/a lot of multitasking/light video editing, or watch videos/listen to music while gaming/streaming, this is the clear winner on the market at the moment. If you're looking for pure gaming performance and nothing else, go for something with at least a 2070 (NOT Max-Q).

Feels solid right now. Due to some reasons I cannot connect it to the internet yet, however, it feels solid. If you are seeing people talking about bad thermals, search up G14 heat fix on YouTube. The GPU factory settings are set to aggressive therefore uses more battery and generates more heat. Turning this off greatly improves thermals and little no no compromises in performance. 10+ hours of web browsing and google docs 8+ hours of video 3 hours of gaming I will do a thorough review when I can connect it to the internet.

This is my first gaming laptop so my opinion may not be worth much but so far I love it. It's a great looking machine, compact, as well as super fast. The only downside is that the screen has gone blqck once which seems to be an issue with other g14s. I did update my windows like was recommended on some sites that seemed to fix it but time will tell if this will be a constant issue which will take my review down to a 2/5.

This is a nice gaming computer for the price. The layout and screen are very nice and clear, though a little dark which is not an issue for me. But some people might object. The keyboard is nice and firm with a good recoil, which makes the fingers bounce off the keys just enough when gaming or writing. I have tested it with a few MMORPG games and it has worked great. It is very easy to customize the modes that the computer is on, ranging from Silent to Turbo. But you can also upgrade it further into in the manual customizations. Understand that there is no camera, though it works well when you attach one. The mic works okay, but it is better to hook a headset in with a mic. The backlight on the keys is pretty bad, but it is enough you can still read everything in the dark.

My daughter is loving her new laptop. It has all the power she needs and then some, and the graphics are quite a bit better than she needs for the limited gaming she does. We bought this before realizing that it doesn’t have a webcam. Not horrid to go out and buy a clip-on one, but really....a laptop without a webcam in these times? Not the best design decision. That one thing takes all the ratings down to a 4.

Very powerful device. It is excellent for video editing, feels very comfortable when typing, has a really great battery life and can export in 8K and 4K very quickly. There are a lot of people who are into buying a computer with a Nvidia 3000 series GPU, but this is a great substitute to save on money, but also if you wanna find some thing that is still at a good price in the market. Also this computer has been out for eight months and has a great reputation, it may be worth getting this over a new 3000 series Nvidia computer

This was my first gaming laptop system before transferring to a full on desktop from my Mac's. This thing is powerful, can be a bit loud with the fan but I bought a laptop cooler and have a headset to help with that aspect. I would highly recommend this as this is just a powerful machine with amazing processing speed.
