Many also praise the build quality and powerful GPU. However, some users express concerns regarding the device's tendency to overheat, the keyboard backlight, and the noticeable fan noise. Fan was very loud initially. After following some guides online, I was able to disable boost and the fan noise improved. It still becomes a bit warm and loud when I play games, but it's a lot more quiet when I'm just browsing the internet.

Awesome powerful little gaming and productivity laptop, and a suprisingly great bang for your buck. It's easy to see why this was so well reviewed in 2020. One of the best processors on the market, combined with a pretty solid dedicated graphics card, and insane battery life (~8-9+ hours during light use and half screen brightness) in a light, attractive, compact 14" form factor. These factors make the Zephyrus G14 a jack of all trades with very little compromise. Some small annoyances, like the lack of page up/down, home, and end keys, and no built-in webcam. It's up to you on whether these are dealbreakers or not. I use AutoHotkey to remap a key combo to replace those keys, and bought a external webcam that I just toss in my backpack if I need to videoconference.

I like the laptop a lot. The Temperature gets very hot when gaming, about 80 degrees celcius and since the laptop is metal you definitely will notice. In terms of performance it is amazing. The ports of the laptop dont make too much sense only being on the right side but I love all the monitoring functions that come with the laptop. Im running about 90-100 FPS on pretty high settings. My big issue with it is the battery claims to be 10-11 hours, Im barely getting 3 hours off the charger which is a blatant lie unless my computer was installed with a defective battery. Not sure who to reach out to about this. To my knowledge i've done all the updates. Also the temperature is just outrageous at times. Big issues: Temperature and battery also lacks webcam

Excellent construction, sturdy magnesium chassis. The 120 variable refresh rate screen is excellent. Don't let the 1080p turn you off. The display being 15" makes it appear of much higher resolution due to pixel density. Setting up the first set of Asus driver downloads is where this device falls short. I think that's more of an Asus issue, and not specific to this model. This laptop does not include a webcam, but that might just be the price paid for such a thin screen. Overall the best laptop one could find in 2020 at this price point. Getting the advertised 10+ hour battery life may also fall under the driver setup headsche but it is very doable.

    Amazing hardware, faulty software.

I give this item 4 stars because Win10 after sometimes leaving the computer with the lid closed sending the machine to sleep mode and after doing this over some days, a Blue Screen of Deaths may arise, for me it more a fault of win10 and possibly othet software and their way to manage the sleep mode state making the system unestable. But so far this computer is one of the best I has, and I has have a lot of computers on my hands since I am a System engineer. 1800cb on Cinebench R20 and 150 FPS I love this baby. I HARDLY recommend using a very good laptop air cooler or whatever cooler may be available to the date best for laptops since every high gaming computer heat a lot and that may degradate the computer components and its pontential very quickly.

    TL/DR:Great hardware bad software/Customer service

Asus makes great hardware, software is somewhat flakey. Already have software failure with Armoury Crate (recently learned it's considered terrible software by the gaming community). Contacted ASUS customer support stating the issue, after doing my own research and attempting a reinstall. Their recommendation was a reinstall which did further damage and loss to the software. I have managed to get the software back to the state it came in which is still missing CPU sliders for wattage. With that being said, This laptop is pretty fantastic, just do your research into ASUS software and make the decision if you're willing to deal with software failure and customer service failure. If you're tech savvy you will be fine.

Asus ROG Zephyrus G14 (slightly under 1 yr review)

This laptop has really proven itself over the time I’ve had it, nearly a year now. I bought the G14 around the beginning of 2021, as my old gaming PC really started showing its age. When I bought it, I simply needed a pc, and desktop parts were beyond unreasonably priced (or hard to find). I had intended for it to be a placeholder, but it really blew me away. It’s powerful, compact, and unassuming. There’s really not much I can knock it for. The only major negative I’d like to make clear is that if you need a webcam, this laptop does not have one. If you don’t care about a webcam, this is a great pc and I could really recommend it for anything. From gaming, to video editing, to just doing homework etc.

I chose this laptop due to the powerful productivity capability with the Ryzen 4900HS cpu. It is one of the most powerful processors found in a laptop, while sitting in a 14" 3.5 lb form factor. Coupled with a 2060 max-q, you get very decent graphics processing to play most games without much sacrifice. There was only one small issue, which is occasionally the GPU fan will sound as it if is cominng in contact with something. This only happens at idle speeds, and in fact, I don't hear it now, but it will appear from time to time. I don't believe this is unique to my laptop as this seems to be a known issue to occur with a few other g14s. Overall, this is a fantastic machine, ideal for both students and creators, and those seeking mobility without giving up much capability.

The best smallest and powerful gaming laptop I've ever purchased. The one I bought is packed with an Ryzen 9 4800HS, RTX 2060 MAX-Q, 16GB DDR4 3200MHZ ram, 1TB intel M.2 SSD, and a 120hz display. For $1449 this is the laptop to get.

Best gaming laptop ever for the price and functionality. However, out of the box this machine is too hot (100 Celsius and over); which is ridiculous and very dangerous for the longevity of the laptop itself. Therefore, if you do buy this machine you must follow the link provided to a youtube channel that has clear and easy instructions on how to disable OC and manage the thermals of the laptop to a reasonable 70 C when pushed hard playing video games and 38C when browsing web and light task. I REPEAT IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW THIS TUTORIAL; DON'T BOTHER PURCHASING THE ASUS G14! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrPbdEnMH-A

Apart from the lack of an inbuilt camera, the specs are amazing. The graphics card, cpu speed, and the generous (SSD) storage are on top of my requirements for a laptop. This product fits nicely into the purpose of my intended use.

I bought this laptop with high hopes. But the first disappointment came when the sound driver for the internal speakers did not work. From a 1500 dollar laptop, that was the last problem that I expected. Furthermore, the thermals on this are way too high, to a point that the screen starts distorting once it reaches a certain temprature. I have tried everything for the sound, uninstalling and manually installing the sound driver many times, but it only worked once until I shut the laptop down and hasnt worked since.

The Zephyrus looks pretty great on paper - especially if it's on sale over the holidays for just $1200, but sadly the glitches are so numerous that this little laptop is just not worth the hassle. I've already experienced the black screen glitch and am now encountering a blue screen crash with increasing frequency. On top of this, a new issue has the sound services no longer working. All of these issues have been experienced by other Zephyrus owners and I'm wishing I'd listened to them instead of the positive reviews. I owned a ROG laptop from ASUS for several years and had serious issues with software -- mainly with sound card problems involving ROG software and RealTek. But I had hoped that a newer laptop wouldn't have the same problems -- sadly, it looks like this is an area where ASUS just falls short, period. There's also the bizarre issue of there being no camera in the laptop (not a huge issue but now I have to lug an attachable one around with me). There's a fancy dot-matrix thing on the lid but, guess what, I haven't bothered doing anything with it, so it's pretty much just a massive waste of space (and an extra cost that I can't find justifiable). I usually just slap bumper stickers on my laptops when I want to customize. When the laptop is working, performance is great -- form factor of the laptop is pretty solid. But with the basic design problems already inherent suddenly coupled with all the glaring software issues, this puppy is not worth it.
