Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the ROG Zephyrus G14's impressive performance, long battery life, and its compact, lightweight design, making it highly portable. Many also praise the build quality and powerful GPU. However, some users express concerns regarding the device's tendency to overheat, the keyboard backlight, and the noticeable fan noise. The lack of a webcam is another frequently cited drawback.

When I read the specs and reviews for this laptop from multiple sites, it seemed like all hype. But owning it for few months now and gaming on it, I was shocked how well this thing handled whatever I threw at it. I use it for work, school and occasional gaming. I really needed it for the processing power and gaming was a plus but this thing exceeded my expectations.

Fantastic product. For non gaming use I get nearly 10+ hours battery life. Obviously I would have the laptop connected to a power source while playing games. The price just dropped $50 since I bought mine and it is within the return period, so I will be asking for Bestbuy to adjust my price. I will update to showcase how that process went. I very much recommend this laptop!

Picked this laptop up when it was on sale. Absolutely no regrets. Best gaming laptop I've owned in this price range. I was worried that the screen would feel too small, but I got used to it quickly. The smaller screen helps with the battery life which, like most gaming laptops, is a little short.

For the cost and performance of the device, I would definitely recommend it as a light / mid gaming and daily work device. Pros: CPU performance Lots of GPU power for a 14" device Great design and form factor Cons: 'Silent' profile when off battery is unbearably limited The white backlight on the keyboard is barely visible Heats up quite a bit on med workload

The best laptop I have ever owned but...

This laptop is incredible. It is the third one I have owned. My previous ones were a macbook pro and the Eluktronics P640RE 14 inch gaming laptop. I've been using this laptop for about 2 months. Breakdown From best to worst my personal ratings are Amazing, Great, Good, and Okay. Nothing about this laptop is horrible imo so nothing lower than okay is needed. Bootup: Amazing This laptop could take laps around my old one for days. It is incredibly fast thanks to its Ryzen 9 processor, 16 gb ram and the 1 tb SSD. Bootup time is less than 10 seconds and is made quicker by the fact that the built in fingerprint reader will register your finger when you first turn it on, meaning once its booted you don't have to scan your finger again or put in a password as you are taken directly to your home screen. Gaming: Amazing For many Triple A games that have vast open worlds and long load times, you'll find that this laptop loads things exceedingly fast. Load times for games like Skyrim, Fallout, and Dark Souls takes a couple seconds. All games will be played at 60 fps minimum, and will be played at high or ultra settings. If you're a small streamer you can easily use OBS and whatever game you play without a drop in performance. If you like to heavily mod your games you'll be able to do so easily without overwhelming the system. Cooling: Good This laptop is incredibly small for a gaming laptop. It runs real hot real fast. Playing a demanding game for an hour will guarantee that the fans are running at max speed, but even still the edges of the laptop especially around the battery get dangerously hot if you place your hand there for too long. A program called Armoury Crate which comes pre-installed allows you to adjust fan speed, monitor CPU temperature, as well as set up custom profiles for when the laptop is plugged in or not, etc.. When the fans are running at max speed which they usually are while gaming, they will sound like mini plane engines. It can be quite loud and interfere with whatever you're doing if you don't have headphones or a speaker. The second you're done doing a demanding task however, the fans work quickly to cool everything down. Battery: Amazing* The battery life is amazing under the right conditions. Light internet browsing, typing, low brightness, etc... will ensure it lasts for hours. I can't say for certain it will last 10 hours like advertised but certainly a long time. Intense gaming with high brightness, max fan speed, etc... will quickly drain the battery in less than an hour. There are probably some games that would allow the battery to last longer but I mostly play large open world games so I couldn't tell you. For convenience and best performance I only game with the charger plugged in. Build: Amazing Please note that I do not have the version that has the backlit LED cover in case that matters. It is small and sturdy. The aluminum casing is really nice, its smooth and cool to the touch (unless you're gaming of course). Extremely lightweight, easy to carry and travel with even with the charger as the charger isn't incredibly bulky. Keys are solid they have nice impact to them when you're typing/gaming. I don't have much to say on the trackpad as I usually use my mouse but it's alright from what I can tell. It works. The lid is very thin and very flexible to the point its almost concerning. Also the further back you push the lid, the higher the back portion of the laptop will raise as the bottom of the lid works as a stand. The lift is barely noticeable and won't change how you type or anything like that. Its purpose is to help with air flow and cooling (although I couldn't say how well it fulfills that purpose) Sound: Great The built in speakers can get very loud. They're also good enough that sometimes I prefer to use the built in speakers over my headphones or external speakers. It is enjoyable to listen to music and watch videos with them. Like I mentioned earlier though for gaming the fans might be too loud to use the speakers. Display: Great You aren't getting the best display as other laptops have higher refresh rates but what you do get is still very good. Color levels, brightness, contrast can all be as vibrant or saturated as you want as the previously mentioned Armoury Crate not only lets you customize performance settings but display settings as well. There are various preset ones ranging from the default, to vivid, to a blue light filter and more. It's nice to be able to experiment and adjust levels until you find what suites you best. With custom profiles you could have a display setting for watching movies and another for playing games. It is quite convenient. The laptop has a good brightness range as well as an adjustable back lit keyboard making it easy to adjust for gaming during the day or at night. In indirect sunlight like through a window there is some noticeable glare but not to the point that it becomes impossible to see or even need maximum brightness. I haven't used this outside so I can't comment on direct sunlight. I also have not played any games that use ray tracing so I haven't tested how that looks either. Additional Features: Okay This will be the weakest area of the laptop and the reason why I give 4 stars instead of 5. The built in microphone is okay if you're just using it to talk with friends. Would not try to use in a professional capacity. There is no webcam which means if you need a web cam for say streaming or zoom calls then you will have to waste a usb port for an external webcam. Speaking of usb ports there is only 2 of them which makes things very limited. If you're the type of person to use external mic/webcam, mouse, external hard drive etc... you'll need to get a usb extender that adds more ports for you to use. If you're a competitive gamer or pro streamer working from a laptop you might not like the lack of an ethernet port. You'd have to get a ethernet to usb connection. Bottom line: Lightweight, highly portable, great for everyday casual gaming, good for some streaming, fast and high performing

This laptop is very limited in the upgrades... only one M.2 SSD slot total, only one memory slot total. This limits what a user can upgrade. It's a great little package for what it does, but I wish it was more upgradable. I am also disappointed that it only came in white at this price point. I really wanted black, but not for hundreds of dollars more!
