Poor Quality Computer that Failed in 5 days

Then it had a critical hardware failure and there was no way to recover from it. Lost data, and the time it took to set everything up.

Pretty Amazing Gaming Laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This Asus ROG Zephyrus M16 Gaming laptop seems like an incredible laptop to have for gaming. The sound is clear and crisp (not too loud, but I preferred this), and it sounded like surround sound when characters were talking in a game. The keyboard is backlit (RGB, changes colors, Fn+F4 toggles mode), and getting used to the keyboard seemed easy. The only thing the keyboard is missing that I've noticed so far is a print screen key (captures screen) but there are other ways of accomplishing that. For easy and secure sign in there is a fingerprint sensor, if you can't find it, it's the power button, just tap the finger on it rather than pressing it in. The laptop is also VERY fast, the whole system responds quickly. I did not yet open this laptop up (i.e. to get inside of the cover), but I was so happy to see it appeared to be open-able with a philips head screwdriver. This will be useful when I'm ready to do upgrades, such as If I need to expand memory or the storage. I will note other brand laptops I've owned recently don't let you open the laptop without special tools. There was one point where I had bluetooth issues (controller was disconnecting and headphones were cutting out) but a few minutes later it was working fine, so it was probably not a hardware problem -- most likely either it was a software issue or maybe wireless interference. After I played about 10 minutes with the first game tested, I exited the game and when I closed the laptop lid, It was obvious that the system fan(s) had gone up to a higher speed, as evidenced from the fan volume. But during gameplay, it was not very noticeable. The game had very high quality, fast moving graphics, and a frame rate on average that was between 70 and 110 fps (it did go higher and lower at times). To give you an idea of what that means, I've read the human eye can see between 30 and 60 fps. Going much higher might not have any useful effect. Another game I have that was a couple of years old played at WQHD resolution in 'Very High' (highest setting) and was "at least" 60fps when I checked it. There was one battle scene which I had been stuck at, but on this laptop I lasted much longer and got further in the game than I previously achieved. Basically, for me gameplay was 'easier' with this laptop. One small additional note, there were definitely more details in the game and menus that I did not even see on my Desktop which also had an Nvidia card from 2 years ago. The best part is that I 'can' play games on this laptop, I used to have to go to the desktop (in an inconvenient location) if I wanted to play, which meant often I didn't bother before. I have intentionally not mentioned the name of the games I have tested in order to avoid reviewing the games themselves. They were selected because they were more graphics intense games and I could see how well the system performed with them. I tried taking this laptop outside, where the wireless connection is a bit weaker, but whereas my phone and older laptop had no issues connecting, this laptop seemed to be unable to acquire a network connection in my network configuration from outdoors. In the time I have to do this review, I cannot troubleshoot the issue much further than this, but suspect maybe a weaker antenna. The other possibility is I was unplugged from power and maybe a 'wireless power savings' somewhere was enabled, but I could not easily locate it. I won't hold it against this otherwise fun and beautiful high performance laptop (which I would recommend if you want a portable gaming system).

Quality Control Issues

There was a vertical line of dead pixels that appeared five minutes after booting it up. Returned it with in an hour of having it delivered.

Dont buy !!!

dont be fooled by the specs

Perfect Gaming Machine
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Everything that one would look for in a gaming laptop is present in the ASUS - GU603 / ROG 16" WQXGA 165Hz Gaming Laptop, you can of course also use it for more mundane things such as email, word, etc Construction of the body is typical for laptops today, I think laptops could all feel a little more sturdy than they do nowadays, its just the nature of how most manufacturers build them now. There is a layer of dots on the lid that reflect colors that appear iridescent which is pretty cool and the GU603 has 6 speakers that sound fantastic with any source material. On the bottom is an interesting rubber foot that runs the length of the back of the bottom that facilitates the GU603 sitting at a nice angle. On the sides are the plug for the power brick, 2 thunderbolt inputs as well as 2 USB, HDMI and a slot for a micro SD card that is very convenient. The button to power up the GU603 is also a finger print scanner that once programmed allows easy fingerprint sign in which is a very convenient feature. Keyboard clicks feel good and the Aura function for the keyboard backlighting can be configured to backlight many different colors. As for the 16:10 screen, its nothing short of spectacular. Its got a 165Hz refresh rate and its great for gaming, video streaming etc Brightness, contrast and blacks are great as well. There is also an HD Webcam at the top of the screen for video, and included are 16GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD HD. Now to gaming performance, I must say I couldn’t be happier, the game rendering takes every advantage of the spectacular screen, unbelievable frame rates, and sound from the 6 speakers, just adds to the experience. It all just ties together perfectly. The ASUS - GU603 made any game I threw at it play with ease including GTA V, COD, and Forza Horizon to name a few. All this takes a lot of juice and in my experience I got just over 6 hrs of use before needing to plug in to charge. If you need a laptop capable of anything that you throw at it, look no further, the ASUS - GU603 is all that and then some.

Buyers remorse overall :(
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This laptop has me confused honestly. The price point justifies a RTX 3070 not a mid wattage 3060. You have a I 9 processor matched with a 3060 :? what why? Feels misplaced honestly. Cosmetically this laptop is great love the design don't fix what's not broke approach with asus's current line of ROG laptops. Screen is great super bright and crisp colors. Finger print reader on the power button is a joke it never works. Keyboard is decent but if you want the best RGB keyboard in a laptop MSI has it hands down since Steel Series makes it. Asus's software is nice but glitchy at times. After tax even when this laptop is on sale its still over priced for a RTX 3060. Keep in mind also you are buying the 80-95W 3060 which upsets me considering there are other gaming laptops that go on sale for 1200-1300 that come with the 100-115W 3060. Only being able to replace 1 of the ram drives is stupid IMO. Overall its not bad but I wouldn't spend the money on what should be a laptop with an I9 and 3070.

Space heater with a keyboard

This gets so hot, you could cook a frozen pizza on it. If you plan on buying this laptop, you better have plans on using it in the walk-in freezer or directly in front of the air conditioner. BTW, this is coming from someone who has only used it this far for watching videos......I can only imagine how terribly hot this would get if put under any real stress like video editing. I was planning on upgrading the ram....but after realizing how hot it gets, the only thing I want to do now is get this fire hazard out of my house!
