Excellent purchase
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This thing is amazing. I have 1 gig internet. Very fast wifi with good range. Using it as the main AI mesh hub. Had trouble connecting my ASUS ac1900 and ac86u because they were older versions. But once I bought a newer model AI mesh ax3000, my speeds we’re flying. No more COD Lag or dropped frames! Set up can be done by the app but had to use YouTube for the set up.

Perfect!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had to add this wifi router because MyQ (garage door opener) doesn't work directly with Starlink internet router. It was super easy setup, extremely fast, range was outstanding. I now use it for my TV out in another building 100' away without any issues.

Pretty solid router.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am impressed with the management interface. The signal strength is excellent. Overall a great product, and I would give a five starts except that I have once per week random disconnects that will require a reboot. It's not my connection, or other factors.

Fast speeds and easy setup...
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy setup and WAY better speeds than the old router my mom was using. Gave her my old router a few years ago and was working okay, but started to lose connection for a few seconds every now and then. Paired with a new 16 downstream channel model Docsis 3.0 Netgear cable modem. Now that she has the iPhone 12 that works with WiFi 6 (AX) upgraded to this router and now everything is running faster on WiFi, no buffering and no dropped connections anymore. Devices automatically connect to the 5 or 2.4 channel depending on compatibility, but only one network name.

Solid router under $200
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great router, replacing a Nighthawk that died. Got this one price matched for $159, and this is a pretty good sweet spot for decent spec routers. This Asus was easy to setup via the IP address then maintain and customize in the app. Great range in my 1800 sq. ft. house, and speeds are good with multiple users. We do lots of streaming, most in 4K, on multiple devices and gaming as well. So far no problems after a year. The one downside is it doesn’t support Wi-Fi 6E, but I don’t think it makes a huge difference.

Best in class
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best wifi 6 router sub $200 that is available in the market. No problems with the range and the speed doesn't change even with multiple devices being connected.

Great router
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this to replace an old, old router that only had 100Mbs network ports. Although this is a little more expensive than others, it is also packed with features. Most of these I did not have to configure. Set WiFi to same name and password as as old router and devices connected seamlessly. Has been very stable. Enjoying the faster 1000Mbs ports and faster WiFi speeds. Also better WiFi range than my old router.

Didn't work for me
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Asus AX3000 router knowing it was an AX model, but I had checked with Asus to verify that it would be backward compatible with AC and N laptops for Wi-Fi, and they said that it was. What they did not tell me is that you have to download the right drivers, and I was only able to do that on my AC laptop. However, after doing that, the Asus router only worked for about 4 days, and then I lost the connection. And it NEVER worked with my older N wi-fi laptop whose driver I was unable to update. So, I returned the router and bought a Synology AC2600 router which I love and which was actually my first choice. I thought I would "future-proof" by getting as AX router, but that was my mistake. If you don't have devices that are already AX compatible, you might have trouble like I did. I admit, however, I am not very tech savvy and I did not have a lot of time to spend on trying to figure out how to get the Asus AX router to work with my AC and N laptops. So, for me, it was just easier to go with a different AC router. I will say that during the 4 days this Asus was working, it was fast and although I am only paying for Spectrum cable up to 200 Mbps, I clocked this router at 230 Mbps download speed. However, I am getting that same exact speed with my Synology AC2600. In addition, the Asus AX3000 is a small-scale router (about 15% smaller than my Synology), so some folks might appreciate that as well. I'm sure the Asus is a good router if you have the right set up; I probably just didn't. So, I can only rate it average based on my personal experience. I should also mention that getting ahold of Asus customer service sales is pretty easy, but getting ahold of their tech support is NOT, and I usually waited 20-30 min. on the phone just to speak with someone, and even then, they often had to search for answers or did not have any for me. In contrast, I have found that Synology's tech support picks up immediately and they are quite competent and helpful. I also learned that Synology offers lifetime tech support for free, whereas many other companies do not and charge for this after a certain period of time. So, that is a big help for someone like me who might need technical assistance now and then. I didn't mean to make this review about my Synology AC2600, but I did want to mention it was the model I ended up with in the end, and it seems to have been a better choice for me.

WIFI-6 IS WORTH THE UPGRADE!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have gigabit internet at our house through AT&T and this is the most amazing router. The biggest upgrade over the standard router is QoS (quality of service AI control) and Wifi-6. You will rarely see even 1200 mbps as it is only useful for transferring files from two high-end PC's over 2.5 gbps ethernet. However, as I said, this will work in addition to most routers when operating in bridge mode. No other setup required. It was flawless. I will note, it didn't work correctly (double NAT) when it was setup as an additional network.

Far better than I’d imagined
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this to replace an aging AirPort Extreme. Setup was very simple - the iPhone app worked great. I’d been concerned that it wouldn’t cover the whole house and that we would have to go with a mesh system - but there’s not a dead spot in our 3700sf 2-story house. Good per-device control for limiting internet access by time because kid. Speed approaching the wired connection throughout the house. Even makes it into a room that has three layers of drywall and Green Glue. Love it.

Superb Coverage
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed to upgrade our WiFi coverage and compared many different makes and models. The ASUS routers had the specs and the speeds we needed to support a dozen devices. Although the coverage was fast and stable in most of the house, there were some slow spots towards the back (where I work). To remedy the bottleneck bubble we added a range extender and now the entire house plus the deck are covered. If you have no experience with configuring a wireless network, the web and app interfaces may be a little daunting.

Great purchase
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I work in telecommunications and I was very impressed with this purchase. I get full coverage across my 1300sq ft single story house even without it being in the center. Now given my house does not have wood, plaster, or metal in the walls. I also don’t have the big 400Mbps package as most because you don’t need it. I push consistently 116Mbps across both my 5G band and 2G band with an average of 16ms ping. I do have my Xbox directly connected to it and it does not sit behind my tv and is out in the open. Would recommend.

Its okay.. Could be better for the price.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is okay, but it's not a phenomenal upgrade. I believe the AC 5ghz and 2.4ghz dual bands run equivalent to a similarly spec AC1200-1300 router which should be close to half the price of this unit. The AX 5GHZ runs at full 2.4gbps bandwidth around 10-20feet away(through a wall) which is quite an upgrade over nearly anything on the market and this is mainly what you're paying for. (esp for file transfer). There's 2-5ms lower ping and Loading web pages feel generally snappier than my previous router which was nice to see/notice. The software is generally great, but enabling IPV6 kinda messed up my 2.4ghz performance and the router wouldn't go over 288 MBPS (after disabling and enabling) until I full reset it which... is kinda sketchy. General stability is okay (when it is running well) but I did crash the router clicking through settings within the first couple hours which seems scary but its been stable since. I like this router but I'm not sure what to really think in terms of long term. AC performance is a tad better than a rental router from your ISP, but don't expect amazing. its a slight boost when it comes to overall range. I pay for 400 MBPS and get 460-480 wired. AX performance within 20 feet does equivalent wired speed quite well, but if your client antenna is lower than desk level, expect drop offs. Going to 40 feet distance will peak at around 250-300 MBPS which is okay, but I think I'd have better results with a higher end 3200+ tri-band AC router with better antennas... not sure. AC performance with the same spec wired internet is around 110-130MBPS at 40 feet. ISP router does around 80-100 at this same or similar distance. YMMV. The pictures are deceiving. The router is a lot smaller than it looks and it gives off a lower end vibe which coincides with my initial thought of a basic router. the indicators LED's leak a lot of light through the bar and it seems "cheap", but also well built at the same time. SO TL:DR its an AC1200-1300 router, but full intel AX200/201 capability and better overall features and software than your ISP and or lower end router. Is it worth the 180MSRP? I don't think so. The price should be closer to $120 at best given the features and warranty length. I'll likely end up keeping it unless I run into critical issues which hopefully don't occur. knock on wood.
