HORRIBLE installation, no confidence in router

I sought help from my ISP and from Best Buy, with no resolution from either. ASUS Customer Service never answered the phone. I finally switched out a cable (as in, used an older one instead of the cable provided with the router) and got the router to install and connect. HOWEVER, this morning, the network was not found by any of my devices, and I had to power down-power up the router to restore the network. There is no reason for this level of glitchiness.

We do understand your disappointment with the product and the inconvenience this may have caused if you are experiencing connection problems. To resolve the unstable connection, please verify if the router’s settings matches with your ISP’s modem credentials, verify if the PC or device connecting to the router is working properly and within range to the router. Additionally, check if the router is within 30 feet to the ISP's modem, if not wired with a network cable, and ISP's internet service or connection is working properly or stable. When connection drops, please check the LED light on your ISP's modem to determine the culprit. Furthermore, we recommend updating the Mesh router firmware if it is running with an older version. Apart from that process being a bit of a pain, the new unit also has the same issues. After a couple of weeks of working it will start having major issues of not delivering an internet connection to all connected devices even though the internet coming in to the router is in working order. The router must be reset to factor settings to be fixed. Once it locked me out for no reason and made me reset it as well.

To resolve the unstable connection, please check if the router’s security settings matches with your ISP’s modem credentials, verify if the PC or device connecting to the router is working properly and within range to the router, the router is within 30 feet to the ISP's modem, if not wired with a network cable, and ISP's internet service or connection is working properly or stable. Legacy devices may not work properly with WIFI-6, please check updates for these devices. Also, try connecting this manually to either 2.4GHz or 5GHz. Also, we recommend updating the Mesh router firmware if it is running with an older version. Firmware is available for download at: https://www.asus.com/us/networking-iot-servers/wifi-routers/asus-wifi-routers/rt-ax58u/helpdesk_bios?model2Name=RT-AX58U .
