Avoid!!!

It stopped working after 3 months. The light started flashing red and after extensive researching and trying anything and everything, it just wouldn't work. Luckily Best buy gave us a replacement (different brand) and have had no issues since. Will never purchase this brand again!

WIFI wont work on non-AX adapters

Also, I have tried over 20 times to login to ASUS account since I wiped-out my laptop and the website keeps telling me something is incorrect and wont let me on (I wrote it down) and there is no method to change either username or password. UNLESS you have a laptop w. an AX wireless adapter I wouldn't even bother w/ this router

Drops connections / Speed Loss

slow start up, bad firmware

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.starting off, this router will kick you out of its settings menu and not let you back in unless you power cycle it, and it does this with each setting change. it refuses to stay connected to the internet and requires every 5 minutes that you unplug and replug the ethernet cord. I tried updating the firmware but only made matters worse, not better. I switched back to my old router that this one was replacing and everything was back to normal with my internet connection.

Constant issues and no help from Asus. DONT BUY

Have troubleshot to my eyes turned blue and everything Asus' forums ask provide little to no assistance. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Why Wouldn't It Work?

ASUS Dud with so tech support

Every night at midnight it resets itself and refuses too update too the newest firmware. Asus support is also useless and will ask you too upgrade your firmware to fix the problem.

Broken

Just another router.

It's ok, it works pretty well most of the time but is not always consistent service. This is my second Asus router and I think I may go back to Linksys next time.

Great features and value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgraded to 1 GB though Frontier Fiber and tested several higher end routers including Netgear, Linksys, and TP-Link but could not get the speeds I expected and the 2.4 WiFi devices would just drop off and on. The Arris supplied by Frontier had better throughput and didn't drop WiFi. I purchased the RT-AX58U because the AX88U and AX92U were out of stock, and I am pleasantly surprised. I have around 50 devices on the network and all of them connected with no issue and my speeds went up more than 25%. This is the best router that I have tested in this price range, it is better than the $400 Netgear and Linksys I tested, at least for my application. My home is 2100 sq ft and I have no issues with range to my 2.4 or 5 Ghz devices. I have only had this a few days but the setup was easy and I have had no issues so far. I do plan to upgrade to one of the other two Asus routers I mentioned once they are in stock to see if I can improve WiFi speeds even more. The AX58U is only 2x2 where both of the others are 4x4 and should provide a much faster WiFi connection which would be well worth the additional cost in my opinion.
