Powerful Performance at a Great Value for Gamers

The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 (16″, 165 Hz, AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS, 16 GB DDR5, Radeon RX 7700S, 512 GB SSD) delivers strong performance in a well-rounded package that will satisfy most gamers and creative users alike. Performance: The combination of the Ryzen 7 7735HS CPU and Radeon RX 7700S GPU gives you plenty of muscle for modern AAA gaming at 1080p. With the high-refresh 165 Hz screen, titles that support higher frame rates feel smooth and responsive. The 16 GB of DDR5 memory keeps multitasking snappy, and the 512 GB PCIe SSD boots Windows and loads games quickly. Display: The 16-inch FHD panel with 165 Hz refresh is a big plus. Colors are decent for the price range, and the high refresh rate makes both gaming and general use feel fluid. It’s not a top-tier color-accurate panel like what you’d find on a creator laptop, but for gaming and daily tasks it’s very solid. Design & Build: As part of ASUS’s TUF line, this laptop feels rugged and well-built. The black finish looks modern without being too flashy, and the keyboard has good travel and tactile feedback. The thermals are well-managed for a machine of this class; it runs cool under load without being excessively loud. Battery & Portability: This isn’t a thin-and-light laptop, but that’s expected for a gaming-oriented machine. Battery life is fair for everyday tasks, though gaming will, of course, drain the battery quickly. Ports are plentiful, making it easy to connect peripherals, external drives, or monitors without adapters. Storage: The 512 GB SSD is fast and feels responsive, but you may find it fills up quickly with larger game libraries. There’s room for expansion if you want a second SSD down the road. Who it’s for: This is a great choice if you want a gaming-ready laptop that doesn’t cost luxury prices, and you care about performance without getting into over-the-top ultraportable territory. It’s also a solid pick for content creators doing video editing or 3D work on the side. Overall: The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 hits a sweet spot of performance, display quality, and build durability. It’s not the flashiest machine out there, but for gamers and power users who want reliability and punch without breaking the bank, this is a very compelling package.

This Laptop is AMAZING. I’m used to running a 4-core Mac with 8 gbs of ram from a few years ago, and it’s safe to say that this is a huge upgrade, ever surpassing the technology of a desktop Alienware computer from a few years ago at a better price. This thing can run pretty big games as well, giving a smooth experience during somethings that my other devices would definitely struggle with. Although I usually use it for casual gaming and web searching, the battery life is pretty long, and the weight isn’t too bad. I have biked about 10 miles with this computer and other things in my bag, like binders, the charger, and the regular school supplies. The bike is also great, it has a metal top with a plastic bottom, raised platform using rubber and a superb cooling system on both sides of the pc. While plugged in and running heavy games the computer reaches about 80 degrees Celsius, which is expected given that it’s a laptop. Another thing of course is the really removable bottom and upgradable slots, I’m planning to upgrade my ram stick, although it’s not necessary the ease of access to these components inspires me to use it, it will also be good for future courses I might take in both Psychology and Business. All in all, great gaming laptop running games at high graphics, high frames, and good temp control. This PC again is also great for school, although it doesn’t have the best webcam it will definitely do for any assignments.

I tried many laptops from HP, Dell, Lenovo, and I'm surprised they didnt block my frequent returns. I got this A16, open box a few months ago for 550, in retrospect it was a steal. The best bang for the buck compared to the MSRP and others much higher. I work from home and it lasted a full 8 hour shift one day. Gaming lasted 3+ hours but I was only testing it. I would not play unplugged and I don't get why people expect any computer to last long on a single battery. The RAM and SSD are expandable. You can use the regular charger or a USBC instead. It gets hot just like anything else including my 4090 that hits 80 degrees under heavy load. Nothing out if the ordinary. This laptop has excellent reviews and if you can get it under MSRP, you won't be disappointed. You get what you pay for. No other brands came close to what I got with the A16 for the $500-600 range. I can travel, work remotely and still do decent gaming.

Great mid range gaming for the money

I got this on sale for $828 through a holiday sale, and I have to say for the money, I couldn't be happier. Construction seems sturdy. It's plenty fast for most games. I didn't have the washed out display others have mentioned. Perhaps it was a driver issue that has since been fixed (I updated all drivers before anything else, so maybe that was it). Regardless; for me, the display is bright, with deep colors and good sharpness. Battery life for regular use is very good, but drops significantly when gaming as you'd expect. 16 gig of RAM is more than most budget mid range laptops give you, but you can still max it out with some of the more memory hungry games/programs. The 512GB SSD is just too small for a gaming rig. Thankfully, there's both a second SSD slot and an open memory slot which will be receiving upgrades soon. Fan noise can be a little loud when gaming but not so much to be a nuisance. The fans keep the rig reasonably cool under load so no complaints here. All in all it's been a great midrange performer for me, and any shortcomings (RAM, SSD) are both upgradable, and reflected in the price.

The ASUS TUF Gaming A16 Advantage Edition (2023) is a solid mid-range gaming laptop that pairs AMD Ryzen CPUs with Radeon GPUs for strong gaming and multitasking performance. Its 16-inch screen comes in either 165Hz FHD+ or 240Hz QHD+ options, making it great for gaming and content creation. The build is durable and includes a comfortable full-size keyboard, though it gets warm during heavy use. Its standout feature is a long battery life of up to 13 hours for light tasks, rare in gaming laptops. However, it’s bulky, has a dim FHD+ display, and a mediocre webcam, which may affect portability and everyday usability.

Perfect laptop for first-time teen gamer

Light for a gaming laptop, with a bigger bathery than most orhers in this size. Lots of ports. Bluetooth and wifi. Display is above average/pretty good for this price range. Bottom cover is easy to remove, and the spare M.2 slot is easy to find. I added an Acer 2tb gen 4 pcie drive there. As with any computer, you will need to create a partiton and format the new drive in order for Windows to recognize and use it. Don’t forget to change the default installation path in your game launch center (i.e., Steam, Epic, EA, etc.) to the new drive letter once you’re ready. The RAM is tucked away under some insulation, but still very easy to swap. I removed the 2 Samsung 8gb modules from the factory and dropped in a pair of DDR5 4800 16gb sticks from Team Group. I dont think I’d pay full price, but when it was on markdown mid-December, I couldn’t pass it up. My teenage daughter is just starting to get more serious into gaming, and this is a great laptop to explore that world. I would suggest a cooling mat for under this laptop, as the fans have to work hard enough to keep it cool without air flow restriction from clothes or blankets. Naturally, it can do the daily homework, internet/email, and other office-type stuff, too. And with the larger battery, it can stay off the charger for quite a while when doing those non-gaming things. Overall a very solid choice. I actually prefer this one over the Gigabyte G6 KF laptop I got myself last year.

    Budget beast when on sale

I got this laptop for $750 on sale and at that price I don't think you could do better in terms of mid range performance. I'm docking this laptop 1 star for a couple reasons. The thermals can get own of hand in its high performance modes and requires tuning in armory crate to get things running sustainably. And even once you get the gpu cpu core temps under control, the vram runs very hot 90c to 95c which I suspect will hurt the longevity of this device. The screen quality is decent for just being a basic 300 nit sdr display. Although not very bright, the contrast ratio and backlight consistency is very good so it makes for a solid gaming experience so long as the ambient lighting isnt too bright. Freesync works great on the latop display, gameplay inputs feel responsive. Outputting to my portable external monitor I've had some issues getting freesync to activate properly but when it works it makes for a smooth experience. This pc can handle 1440p gaming but performance can fall off a cliff if you get too close too vram limit so 1080p is definitely where it shines. And forget about 4k. Bottom line, when on sale this laptop is a budget 1080p beast. At its MSRP it would still beat a lot of its nvidia competition for price to performance so long as you dont care about raytracing. Regarding UE5 games so far so good, 1080p high preset with 90% tsr and frame gen I'm playing Black Myth Wukong in the 75 to 90 fps range.

A Truly Impressive Laptop - Exceeds Expectations!

I recently purchased this laptop, and I must say, it has exceeded my expectations in every way. The performance is outstanding, thanks to its powerful processor and ample RAM, which make multitasking a breeze. Whether I’m running multiple applications or working with complex datasets, this laptop handles everything with ease, showing no signs of lag. The display is incredibly crisp and vibrant, offering true-to-life colors that make working, watching videos, and editing photos an absolute pleasure. The battery life is also remarkable, lasting well beyond a full day on a single charge, which is perfect for those long workdays or travel. One of the standout features for me is the build quality. It’s clear that a lot of thought went into the design; the materials feel premium, and the laptop has a sleek yet durable design. The keyboard is exceptionally comfortable, allowing for long typing sessions without any strain. Overall, this laptop delivers a powerful and well-rounded experience that I can wholeheartedly recommend to anyone in need of a reliable, high-performance machine. It’s an investment well worth making!

I’ve been using the ASUS TUF A16 for a few weeks now, and it’s been awesome for gaming and everyday use. Games like Cyberpunk run super smooth at high settings, and the 165Hz screen makes everything look crisp. It stays cool for the most part, but the fans do get loud during intense gaming. Battery life is surprisingly good when not gaming. Build feels solid and it looks sleek. Great value if you catch it on sale!

Performs very well, able to run the games I want at a high level. The only complaints I have is the storage, however there is slots inside for additional storage to be added. Easy to add a tb of storage. The fan on mine does make a weird noise every once in a while but based on faqs and online forums it seems to be a somewhat common problem. Overall would recommend for someone looking to play with more power.

I’ve owned this laptop since August. I’ve dropped it while open so many times it just bounces. The armory crate software is basically bloatware and does some weird stuff but if you replace it with Ghelper it makes it run so much smoother. I can get an hour of high graphics on battery. I haven’t run into a game I can’t play due to any sort of constraints, even the currently new Lost Ark with all of its high demand runs smooth, It runs emulators like a boss and will go for hours plugged in without any sort of performance issues. If I had to say I didn’t like something about this machine it would be that it can get HOT and is LOUD depending on what kind of settings you are running it with. The fans blow out of the side not the bottom so it stays generally cool on the surface though the keyboard and top plate get very warm to the touch. This is an 8.5/10 for me.

I mostly purchased this as an everyday laptop since my old one finally gave out. Didn't plan to do much gaming but wanted the option from time to time. Honestly I didn't expect much for the price but figured browsing and stuff would be nice on it. I have definitely been extremely impressed with the overall speed. Websites load as fast as you can press the but, excel is lightning fast, videos streams look amazing, and the gaming is actually amazing so far. I have even pushed a few high demand games on it and it handles them easily. Screen is phenomenal, keyboard and overall construction is excellent. Only negative for some is this thing is a tank. It is the heaviest laptop I've owned but that can be a pro for some like me who want something that will last. Overall great buy and couldn't be happier.

Good budget laptop that can run most modern games at an acceptable frame rate and graphics quality. The only issue that I have is that the battery capacity is rather small, as well as the storage capacity. With 556gb of storage you can really only have 3 modern games downloaded at a time, maybe 4. I’ve had to use an external hard drive to keep all of my games available which is the only reason for 4/5 stars. The cooling capacity is great for a laptop, it gets very hot under heavy load but never breaches 90 degrees when the chip is rated for 95+ degrees. The screen is also very crisp, however I just enjoy large displays so when I’m not traveling I plug it into my 28” monitor as the screen is just too small for me to use all the time. But otherwise it would be too bulky. So I think they got a nice ratio of size+display.

The laptop works great. I upgraded from a 2022 MacBook Air and I do not regret it. Battery life is pretty good, lasting around 6-8 hours just browsing the internet. Performance is great, the 7700s has great performance for the price. Overall I would recommend. I bought this on sale for $725 after taxes and for that price you would have a hard time finding a better laptop. The display is clear and the keyboard is nice to type on. The frame is nice and sturdy but does get oil marks from skin after use due to the matte black finish. I don’t mind this as I regularly clean the device.

We bought this laptop as a Christmas gift for my son in middle school and it is excellent especially for the performance vs value. We got it on sale for $680. He is able to play all of the games that he has been wanting to play like Stray, Hogwarts Academy, Palworld, CoD, etc. and this laptop runs them all at max or high settings without issue. The laptop feels very sturdy and the build quality is excellent. The keyboard feels good and the screen is amazing. We will be upgrading with a second SSD in the second M2 slot and possibly replace the RAM to 32GB in the future but otherwise we are extremely happy with this purchase.

Before buying this, I had a MacBook Air. I bought this laptop to use for school while also being able to play games every now and then. Let me tell you, IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT. This laptop outperforms my Xbox Series X and is portable!!! This little beast is worth all of $1,000, and if you can get it for a steal when it’s on sale. Best $700 I’ve ever spent in my life. Highly recommend, would buy again. It is a gaming laptop, so it doesn’t get the MacBook’s battery life, but after tweaking some settings in AMD’s Adrenalin software, Asus’ Armory Crate, and the Windows setting, I can get it to last through all my classes if I don’t boot up a game. I wish they made an easy setting to make the dGPU stay turned off when not plugged in, but it’s nothing I couldn’t handle myself. The display is only 1080p, but with 165hz it looks pretty dang good.

Bought this for my sister so she could game with me from across the country. Got this on sale, so for me it was an excellent value. This laptop is a workhorse! People might not like the battery life or the fan noise, but those are to be expected with a gaming laptop. You can't really get around that at this price range. It has two M.2 slots so I threw in a 2TB M.2. My sister will be gaming on this for years to come.

Bought this laptop for College to do schoolwork and to play video games. Works great at both. Great battery life for typical work besides gaming, such as taking notes in class all day as well as studying. I had some minor durability issues after about a year, however, this is likely due to use of the laptop for most hours of every day of the school year.
