    Great gaming laptop!

Bought this laptop for College to do schoolwork and to play video games. Works great at both. Great battery life for typical work besides gaming, such as taking notes in class all day as well as studying. I had some minor durability issues after about a year, however, this is likely due to use of the laptop for most hours of every day of the school year.

    $780 Excellent Value Gaming Laptop

I purchased this laptop when it went on sale after Black Friday for $780. I looked long and hard at competition such as Lenovo, HP and even ASUS's other models and I think at the below $800 price point, this is as good as you would get in terms of raw performance. But let me start with the downsides first. Even though this machine has a USB4 port, this particular model does not support PD charging on this port (DP only) and I'm still waiting for my AKiTio Node Titan dock to arrive so I can test whether or not it supports eGPU (I'll post an update when I find out). The other USB-C port does support PD and DP-ALT mode as expected (I was able to use my HP Thunderbolt G2 dock) with this port without any issues and it recognized my Logitech G903 mouse and G915 keyboard without any issues through my old dock and was able to drive my Samsung Odyssey G9 Neo monitor at 120Hz (plug in the dock after you've booted into Windows, otherwise sometimes it would not connect properly). Ironically, on the USB4 port, I would get intermittent signal loss on my monitor even when I decreased the resolution down to 3840 × 1080 and at 60Hz. Finally, the biggest downside in my opinion is that if you opt to use USB-C PD charging because you don't want to bring the huge barrel power brick, keep in mind this laptop does not support passthrough charging but rather charges the battery to the max (you can set it to 80% max to reduce battery wear if you use this charging method) and uses 1-2% of battery and then charges up to the max setting again. Now onto the positive, this laptop is capable of having good battery life easily over 6 hours off the wall (I stopped paying attention after 6 hours, it probably had another 2-3 hours if I recall correctly) and it's cooling design is fairly adequate. The display is decently bright, fairly decent color gamut coverage (not muted) and response time is good (not the greatest out there) in my subjective experience. I think the FHD+ (10% more vertical space) resolution is the right pairing choice in terms of battery life, pixel density (text is clear) and what the RX 7700S can drive well for games. Build quality is definitely above average (bottom side is plastic, but the rest of the laptop feels well built). Some might complain that the CPU is merely a Zen 3+ refresh, but its efficiency and performance are good enough where you're not gaining anything noticeable even if you paid more for the Zen 4 Ryzen 7 7840HS version. All in all, I think for the price of less than $800 that I bought it for at the time of writing this review, this is one of the best deals you can get, but I would not pay more for this since at its full MSRP there are better options. Side note, there are reported issues with sleep, but I have not encountered them yet (I usually shutdown the system which reduces the likelyhood, too).

Solid laptop. great for work and gaming. Good battery life with the igpu. Games that push the RAM tend to studder. SO i would recommend upgrading to 32GB. MY games smoothness after doing this increased. Also 512gb is almost not enough. Upgrade that too in the provided second bay. Overall great laptop. i would pick up on sale again. Not full price though since it is 2023 and you can get 2024 for same price. My only complaint is that i wish the display got brighter.

Whats not to like about it! The rx7700s handles highend games with no issue. Havent found a game it cant handle. I just slapped in a 2tb ssd in the second slot and upgraded the ram card which was a breeze. Like all gaming laptops, the battery life isnt isnt great unplugged but i dont mind finding an outlet. It charges very fast! We all get laptops instead of desktops for the portability factor and we know that means we will have to charge it. I can take it with me while visiting friends, family, work, wherever! That is a plus to be able to play any game i want, wherever i want. It can get a little warm depending on the game your playing but nothing unusual or unexpected. When at home it stays on my cooling station and stays nice and cool! You will definitely want a good cooling station. Dont get a cheap 10$ cooling station. It only makes sense to buy a quality cooling station. Its a 1000$+ laptop, make the most of your investment and take care of it with a trusted proven cooling station that will keep the laptop in good condition for long term use.

Recently got this on sale for $780. I am a fairly avid computer enthusiast and have put some machines through their paces in the past for gaming. I am impressed with this machine for the price. First thing I did when I got it was to disable ArmouryCrate and install GHelper, update to the latest drivers and make sure every setting was exactly where I wanted it to be. After getting it completely set up, I began to put it through the ringer. Timespy benchmark; consistent 10500 overall. I saw the CPU and GPU temps creep up over 90C for the CPU and 95C for the hotspot on the GPU (typically the overall GPU stayed 10-15C cooler). The fans seemed pretty capable of keeping up but, I would HIGHLY recommend this machine be placed on a laptop cooler when doing intense gaming. I never saw temps go over 100C when it was being stressed but I'd hate to chance it especially if your purpose for this thing is running high-end games. With cooling in mind, it did a good job. The fans aren't screechy and don't get obnoxiously loud. I do wish AMD would allow some customization of the fan profiles through their Adrenalin drivers. But, that is a typical complaint of AMD GPUs--driver support. Hopefully the Adrenalin suite develops to allow greater control. Userbench scores were consistently fantastic and Superposition scores were actually superior to 4060 laptop (Full power), 3070 (full power) and approaching 3080 (Full Power numbers with a score hovering around 6700. All of that to say that this little GPU (7700s) sits firmly between a 4060/4070 or a 3070/3080. Ray Tracing on this machine does leave something to be desired. I did notice a hit when RT was involved but could easily make up for it by adjusting other facets of a game to get performance where I needed it. The screen is phenomenal at this price point Color is fantastic and depth is wonderful. I don't think you'll find a better screen on a $780 machine. The build quality is up to snuff and what I would expect from a mid-high machine. The laptop seems sturdy and the layout of the ports is decent. Having nearly everything on the left side of this machine could make it get a bit crowded but unless you are using this machine as a server I don't think the potential for clutter exists. For $780, this machine is an absolute steal. Most 4060 machines at this price point are not full power 4060s so you lose a significant amount of graphical power compared to this. This machine really competes above even a full powered 4060 and at the same price. All that to say, I wouldn't pay retail for this machine. It is the only reason I am rating it at 4*. If you are in $1100 for a machine, find a 4070 on sale and pay a bit more but if this thing goes on sale again and your budget is near it, it is a must get. There is absolutely no better deal on the market than this machine at <$800

I am a laptop power user. I use one for work every day, and now I have 2 personal laptops, not incuding my Lenovo Legion go. My main laptop has been in RMA due to a failed 4080 GPU waiting for a new Motherboard to arrive. In the Interim I attempted to use My Legion go docked, however it lacked a lot of the power I needed. It also became very unportable when I had to hook all the peripherals I use up to it. Long story short, I needed a more powerful laptop and didn't want to break the bank. I found this on sale for 750 and is boy is it worth every penny. I have seen people complain about the screen, and I must be lucky because my unit has minimal screen bleed. I feel the resolution is perfect for the screen size. My only knock on the computer is I wish it had a 1TB hard drive. I did add an extra 2tb ssd and upgraded the ram to 32GB before even booting it up. I feel the power to performance is perfect and the ram wouldn't need to be upgraded for the average person however for me navigating between photo editing software such as lightroom, photoshop, and Topaz Photo AI, they take up a lot of ram. I know we all wish to have top of the line, but that's not what I needed. My other laptop is already just that, it has a 4080, I9-13980hx, 4TB hard drive space,a dn 64gb of ram. When gaming this unit averages roughly 70-80fps on any game on a mix of high- ultra setting at the full resolution of 1920x1200. This includes games like Rachet and clank rift apart, cyberpunk 2077, and helldivers and even call of duty. Less demanding games will run at higher FPS. Im not quite sure how to rate battery life on a gaming laptop. I bought it for the performance/portability not battery life. I feel a battery in a gaming laptop is essentially a UPS. If you want battery life, a gaming laptop shouldn't be your first choice. Look at apple they are king when it comes to battery. I think this laptop has plenty of power for the average user and could do anything you throw at it. It may not be as efficient, but it will get it done at a great price. if your on the fence grab it , its a great unit.

It is a decent entry level laptop, it is sturdy and sleek, it is one of the few gaming laptops that has a numeric keyboard and the key placement is spot on, only thing missing is backlight color customization. Nothing feels cheap on the built. Processor is fast, it can run multiple apps without any issue and boots up super fast. Graphics look great and computer runs quiet while playing games yet it gets quite hot. There are lots of customization options to keep you tinkering for a while. Make sure you get the 1 Terrabite drive, I got the 512 gig one and ran out of space. I had been looking to buy a gaming laptop for months and there are so many options out there that make it hard to decide, even after you do you still keep double guessing on your pick. I just decided on one that’s mid-range with great specs and I price I could afford and so far I’m happy with this one.

I got this Open Box - Excellent for less than $650. So based on that it is was a great value. I did have some issues with occasional blue screens. Which makes me wonder if that is why the previous person returned it. I used the SFC /scannow & DISM tools to check for file repairs. Fixed it and haven't had an issue since. So if you have blue screens, try those repair commands. Besides that, I have used this daily, plays every game I have tried, of course you have to set the game accordingly, it is a laptop after all. The speakers are pretty mediocre and I wish the screen would get a little bit brighter, but I can live with both of those limitations at the price I got this at. And I have a headset when audio is important. Battery has been good when I've used it.

I am very happy with this laptop. (Purchased at $750) It performs well, has good features (battery health protection, etc.), and has an understated look that makes it appropriate to use at work. While upgrades aren't necessary, the laptop is user expandable and upgradable. I have added a second nvme stick drive and upgraded the ram (16 -> 64gb DDR5 4800) and wifi card (Realtek RTL8852BE -> Intel AX210) I recommend doing a re-installation of windows out of the box, as I did run into a driver issue during the first week (White artifacts and glitching in display) that was resolved by reinstalling windows and updating the graphics drivers without installing AMD Adrenalin. (YMMV)

This laptop works even better than my last one! It’s speed is immaculate, the graphics switch based on how strong something is being processed, making it faster, it doesn’t drain battery life while charging, it’s lightweight, and it feels as great as my last computer in terms of my OG accessibility. Massive recommend.

What an amazing value! I got an open box for a good discount and it was one of the best purchases ever! When I'm doimg daily tasks it has long battery life and easy use. When I am gaming, I can get really decent performance in any title! 1920x1200 display - rx7700s graphics on a 16in display is phenomenal. During gaming of course, you'll want to keep it plugged in like every other laptop, and it can get pretty warm, but it has never been an issue or problem for me. It is hands down the best laptop you can get for its price- just as long as it stays under the $800 price-point.

Only thing I dont like really is how hot the exhaust can feel, not that its unreasonable, just in my own head I'm like "That's hot." But it runs perfect, feels nice/looks nice, offers a wide range of performance tools you can use to better fit your use of the laptop. Im new to PC so for me this Laptop does everything I need, plays the games I want to and hasn't given me any problems, solid laptop.

Overall I don’t regret this purchase at all. It feels pretty hot under load but internal temps usually stay reasonably stable(usually 82c or less in my AC’d apartment). I wouldn’t want to game on this outside unless it’s very cool out. I also use a laptop fan which definitely helps. The fan is LOUD when it’s under full load but that’s the same with most gaming laptops. I had tons of issues with my SSD after a 24H2 update that caused endless blue screens. I ended up switching the SSD and it’s fine now. Appears a new update may have fixed the issue with the original SSD but I don’t trust it as a boot drive anymore and use it as a secondary SSD. GPU more or less has the performance of an RTX 4060. Battery life isn’t very good unless you keep the GPU off with the MUX switch, even then I would say you have maybe 4-6 hours tops depending on what you’re doing. I wish the display had more nits, can be hard to see the screen if you are in a bright area.

I’ve been using this laptop for about a week now, and I can confidently say it was the right choice. The performance and design are both impressive. It handles everyday tasks, remote work, streaming, and even light gaming with ease. The keyboard is comfortable, the screen is crisp and bright, and the fan is incredibly quiet—perfect for working in a quiet environment. Picked up this laptop for my son who's heading of to college. As a gamer, he loves it. It handles everything he's thrown at it. As a dad, I'm glad to see a great value tired to a great brand, quality build, and room enough in the specs to provide longevity for his academic needs. Definitely recommend this model. As a side note, the pickup process at Best Buy after buying online was super smooth and simple.

I use this laptop for both work and gaming. It's a beast! It is a bit heavy, but I love every other feature about it and totally am okay with that to get a great laptop. It is loud when it's working hard, but that's not the worst either. The battery pack gets warm, but the laptop itself stays within a reasonable heat, even when working hard.
