ASUS Hinge Breaks - no warranty coverage

ASUS (and BestBuy) refuse to cover anything that physically goes wrong. My ASUS TUF developed a broken hinge at 6 months. The hinge started to pry apart the top and bottom casing, and after a week it started to break the plastic bottom casing. ASUS (and BestBuy geek squad) consider it physically damaged and will not cover the repair. Even though it was their equipment that caused the damage. Apparently, if you buy an ASUS laptop, you are expected to NOT open the screen. So don't buy an ASUS laptop if you actually want to use it.

ASUS & BB WILL NOT HONOR WARRANTY

Huge disappointment, had to return.

One of the reasons I came to USA was to buy a laptop, and a couple weeks prior to my coming, I found this “Open Box Excelent” laptop. It was a bargain for 688usd! Got delivered to my office here with no problems. When I finally had it in hands, tested it right away! Download a couple games and MAs test version of AMD graphics driver. Then the nightmare started… Laptop just froze. A few seconds later, restarted. At that point could be anything… When I got back to Windows and reopened the AMD drivers, RX7700s disappeared. On DXdiag it neither appeared, just the integrated card, with a mention of error 22 regarding the dedicated one. After restarting a couple times, it was back. I read several forums about this laptop and seems a known glitch, and not resolver by nether ASUS or AMD. Issues go further. Glitching on the EDGE browser, making the mouse freeze all the time while navigating. Then, by the end, decided to run the 3DMark benchmark, and failed 3 times in a row due to an “unrecognised screen module” or something like that. As I’m staying just 2 more days, decided to return. I bought in a great sale, and returning it was VERY disappointing. Be careful with bargains!

Poorly built- not meant to last

It hasn’t been dropped and the entire back of the keyboard is starting to separate every time the laptop is open. It also overheats very easily.This is not what an expensive computer should do in less than a year. I have cheaper older ones that work my much better than this. Do not buy this brand!

I should have listened

Worked fine for about 2 hours then it started restarting itself every 30 seconds. Couldn't boot in safe mode, start up repair found no issues, and even would restart while trying to reinstall windows. Im just glad this issue presented day 1 and not 3 months later. At least I can return it and not deal with what I hear is a warranty they rarely honor.

Noticable backlight bleed

You can see the backlight bleeding even when playing, and you see it in a normal bright room. I exchanged my first unit because of this and the second one still had the same issue. The laptop is perfect in every other part of this but this level of quality control is unaceptable.

Just terrible

I AKED GEEK To confirmed on the configurarions and he confered but it was wrong...Once I live in Brazil there no way tho change it.

Sad purchase and the worst of my life

The first time I didn't notice anything strange, the second and third time I noticed that it got too hot and the battery lasted only an hour, without even using games or heavy applications, only with google. Today I used it a couple of times and I could recognize worse problems. The screen flickers without apparent sense, parts of the screen appear in white and others in black, the whole screen turns black from one moment to another. I do not live in the United States and it was a friend of my mother's who was able to buy it and bring it to Peru. But it has been the worst money my father has ever had to spend in his life. It has been more than 60 days since the purchase and I just noticed the failures because I didn't want to use the laptop so much so that it wouldn't break and only for university work (making maps and using Zoom). Now I can't even use google and type because the color changes on the screen prevent me from doing so. I really don't know what to do or how it would be possible for BestBuy to accept the return. I am too sad because my father saved for a long time to be able to buy me this laptop. I hope someone can help me.

Atrocious experience, HOT and LOUD laptop.

I have an Asus Tuf from last year, but I wanted a more powerful GPU for occasionally playing games.. so this system seemed like a good upgrade. This is a long story, skip to the end paragraph for the summary if you want. I ordered this, but then noticed a reviewer said their unit was only white backlit keyboard.. so I contacted online support before receiving this laptop to inquire if it has RGB backlit keyboard like it says on the listing under "features". The technician could not verify if it did or not, but assured me that BestBuy would help me out or compensate in some way if it did not. It arrived, and did not have any option to change the colors, instead it's just white, and the lowest setting bothers my eyes. In addition to this, my unit made an odd clunking noise randomly, it had poor performance in 3dmark compared to other reviewers with this same model, AND it ran extremely hot.. much higher temps than I see on the 3dmark results page. So I contacted support and I was told they wanted to send me a replacement that would for sure have the RGB options for the keyboard, and also I was told it would have excellent performance. The second unit arrived, and to my dismay it does not have RGB settings either! But something else strange, and worthy of mention is that this unit runs MUCH higher performance than the first unit, it scored much higher in 3dmark, while also not getting as warm as the last unit did! However, I tried playing a few of my favorite games of the moment, and was bummed out to see that my old laptop with a 3050ti had sometimes higher FPS and overall smoother gameplay than this unit in 4 of 5 games. Not only that, but my old laptop runs the same games while getting much less hot and producing much less noise. This unit loves to run at MAX fan speeds in games, and even then it gets pretty warm after just a few min of moderate workloads. Here's where I become angry.. I took the 2 laptops into BestBuy, and I was treated like some kind of fool! -Two "technicians" there did not realize I know far more than they do about computers and literally tried to tell me lies! At first they were convinced I didn't know what I was talking about, and claimed they for sure could change the colors on the keyboard. When they failed to be able to, they blamed me for "customizing the software", which I absolutely did not do! -I ran windows update and let Armoury Crate update, but there was no way to change the color before that either. The one tech eventually said "technically this laptop does have RGB, because if you mix those colors together you get white".. I almost laughed, thinking he was joking, but then he proceeded to tell me that "we usually charge money for this kind of thing".. like REALLY!?? That is customer service!?! And then I mentioned how the laptop runs at a constant 95deg C for the CPU, and over 91C on the GPU.. he of course then tried to tell me this was normal behavior. It IS NOT NORMAL. I have never seen my old laptop hit 85C for the GPU, it's usually in the 70s, and this being without even using a cooling pad! -Guess what, it has the same 95watts of potential power to use as this 7700s. Apparently the 7700s is not nearly as efficient as a 3050ti.. and yeah, the 7700s may be able to play some games at higher settings than the 3050ti, but I was shocked to see the 3050ti producing better framerates in multiple recent games with the exact same quality settings. And lastly, this screen might be 100% SRGB, but the colors are what I'd call blown-out.. watch an HD video of nature and you'll see everything looks fake, like a video game rather than a movie of the real world. I hate it! My old laptop has 100% SRGB also, but apparently it's not about that.. maybe this unit has terrible calibration or really poor contrast ratio. I really like my old Asus Tuf.. which is why I was excited to own another one as an "upgrade"... but yeah, I'm nothing but annoyed! And the people in the store I talked to about returning these two units REALLY should get fired.. they were needlessly rude, condescending, "know-it-alls", who clearly have ego issues! -literally, I worked as a customer support agent for Gateway 2000 computers for 2 years, and I know more than most people about computers, but that's besides the point. The 2 technicians were just ruthlessly trying to make it seem like I was being dumb or wrong in some way. The truth is, the facts speak for themselves, I wasn't making anything up, and I wasted more than an hour in the store just trying to return these 2 laptops!!!! It's been an unheard of, ridiculously terrible experience! In summary, the unit runs super hot (almost enough to burn your fingers on the plastic above the keyboard), it underperforms, it has a terrible display, it's quite loud, it has no RGB despite the listing claims it does, and BestBuy has some arrogant fools working in the local store here.. I'll be returning my units via phone or online support instead, where hopefully I'll be treated with a modicum of respect.

Terrible Quality, DO NOT BUY

Now it doesn't even charge or turn on. Do NOT buy this laptop, as having looked at ASUS's RMA process and how they treated some customers recently, I'm just going to get my gaming laptops from elsewhere. They got my $1000, and they'll never get another dime from me. More cons: the display is dim even at full brightness, the graphics drivers crash randomly during many games that I never had the problem with before, the keyboard has bad tactile feedback, the speakers are anemic, and it feels cheaply built.

Heat will slowly kill the adhesive keeping the IPS panel attached and will get damaged. Disabling 2.4ghz You HAVE to disable 2.4ghz, step down 5ghz to 802.11a/n/ac, turn off 801.11d, mac rando, roaming aggressiveness, and wake on * to improve network performance. Updating video drivers, will most likely cost you performance. A shame.

GPU Failure after 2 years

Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.As someone who doesnt splurge on things very often, i treated myself to something i thought would last as this product is marketed as a rugged and decent build quality item, but the GPU failed just under 2 years from purchase date. And come to find out the GPU and Motherboard are integrated, the cost to replace when not under warranty would be about 3/4 the cost of the unit itself. Overrall very dissatisfied and dissappointed with my first gaming laptop purchase. Go with a different brand
