Asus is a well known name in the PC world and I have used their products quite a bit over time. I have always been happy with their products and this motherboard is no exception. First, about the LGA 1851 socket. There is only one family of processors that work with this CPU configuration at this time and it's the new Intel Ultra Series of processors. These processors are geared toward the gaming world and in this case I had a series 2 of the series 7 model. Without going into much detail about the processor itself I so far found it to be very good and the built in graphics are good as well. They do not match up to the Intel i series in terms of speed but do come at a lower price. For the motherboard itself, the following are the pros and cons Pros * DDR5 memory slots * Bios settings are easy to move around in and organized well * WiFi 7 capable (not readily available yet) * Good number of ports for access * Several M2 SSD drive slots Cons * Layout is a bit tough for access to some connectors (specifically CPU fan when you have top fans installed) * Limited to only the Ultra Series processors Overall if you are looking for a Z890 series motherboard for the Intel Ultra series processors this is a great choice.

Great Board to Upgrade Your PC

I was looking to switch to a new CPU, and I wanted a new motherboard to go with it. It was my first time installing a new motherboard, but after a few online tutorials I managed to get it in without much hassle. Normally when I work with computer parts, I get nervous because I don't want to break any of the parts by being too rough. As advertised, you can tell that this board is built to be extra durable. It's very heavy and you can tell it'll last a long time. One thing I really like about this board is that it comes with 4 M.2 slots. My last motherboard only had two, so I'm happy that I'll finally be able to get more storage. I also really like the heat syncs that they have on the board. My last board didn't have heat syncs, so I had to pick some up from a computer store. These ones are much better and offer much more cooling than what I had before. Finally, I really like that it has Wifi 7 built in. We recently got put onto Wifi 7, so it'll be nice having faster connectivity speed too. Not many current device has wifi 7 capabilities but my cell phone does and it was such a big difference. That feature alone is worth upgrading your motherboard. Overall, I love this board. Even though this might be considered the beginning line for this Asus series, it has been such a huge upgrade, I can't help but have a huge smile on my face when using my computer.

First off, as it has been stated, check for BIOS updates, and perform immediately. It will absolutely remove any headaches from installation and running. Luckily for me, I haven't had any issues in my usage thus far. Another note for semi-newbies, even though they are the same physical size, the 1851 chipset is not backwards compatible with the 1700 processors, so know that before you dive in, you will most likely need to upgrade your processor. With those two disclaimers out of the way, I am loving the board. Being that I upgraded to a 4090, I already had to buy a bigger case, up the power supply, memory, etc., so installing the board with my current components was a breeze as everything fit snugly. Another smaller thing to point out is to make note of the location and order of all the connectors. The power connector can be tricky to get to depending on the case, but installing the cable before pinning down helped immensely. But this may not be your situation. Just an FYI. Depending on the specs, I may upgrade to a 5090 down the road, and this board will be ready for it. PCIe 5, DDR 5, 1851 chipset, Wi-Fi 7, and so much more with plenty of HD M.2 slots for whatever size files the future may hold. It has been a great upgrade thus far, and when the next hardware wave hits, it will be ready for the swap.

This ASUS-TUF GAMING Z890-PLUS WIFI (Socket LGA 1851) Intel Z890 ATX DDR5 Wi-Fi 7 Motherboard is built for the new intel ultra series 2 processors making options limited at this time. It's made for power, overclocking and AI. There is a wide offering of connections including PCIe 5.0 for faster data transfer with backward compatibility. PCIe Quick release is included and so convenient. When your ready for an upgrade you can release the GPU with the push of a button (latch?) and it releases. M.2 slots have a locking mechanism to hold the SSD and also have quick release. It also has a Q-Slide for the M.2 which allows it to support two sizes and easily installing either. Thunderbolt 4.0 USB-C connections along with usb-c connections in the front panel. Of course the usual assortment of accessory connections and HDMI. Aura Sync, Realtek 7.1 Channel audio and WIFI 7 with WIFI Q-Antenna for a stronger signal, this motherboard has them all. Built for the future, this motherboard is impressive.

    Extremely nice!

This motherboard is extremely nice! It is an upgrade over my Z790, it has an AI LAN manager that I personally didn't like so I disabled it. The rest of the Motherboard has features such as the WIFI 7 and the 4 M.2 NVME slots with 6 SATA connector ports as well. This motherboard is a powerhouse. I tested it on wifi and over Ethernet and on a 2.5 GB Internet I was receiving Close to 1.5 GB/s download and 500 upload over wifi, and the standard 2.5GB/s over Ethernet. the only issues that I had were the drivers for Ethernet were not available so I had to use the WIFi to find them on the Intel website and download them and second was the wifi was a connected antenna. Besides that It was able to run windows 11 without any major issues from the old SSD. I did a fresh installation to verify if everything worked and it went very smooth. Since this is not a review of the CPU I'll skip that and state that I recommend this motherboard to both gamers and everyday users. Perfect for a new builder or old. Came with 4 SATA cables

the board does well with the new LGA1851 processor

The ASUS TUF GAMING Z890-PLUS WIFI motherboard got some good specifications but has issues in its design. Although it ticks the boxes supporting DDR5 and Wi-Fi 7 as far looking forward is concerned, the price to features ratio is not up to the mark. The casing might be up to the standard but the design can be annoying; connectors are positioned in a way that they make cable management a nightmare for small builds. In terms of layout, the BIOS is clunky which does its job but cannot be compared to other brands in the same price range. From a performance perspective the board does well with the new LGA 1851 processors however it does have its downsides as well, VRM cooling is an issue under load which causes overclocking to lead to instability. Furthermore another major downside is the sparse rear I/O where one expects at least a high number of USB ports from a high end board. Wi Fi 7 is a good addition with the board however a majority of users won’t be able to take full advantage of it and especially the lack of a second ethernet port is a big plus for fans. Overall, even though it’s effective and does its job to complete the requirements, it’s just not the sophisticated unit and multi-purpose unit it needs to be considering the price.

Fast Intel Z890 Motherboard, WiFi 7+, Easy BIOS

The ASUS TUF Gaming Z890 Motherboard is great motherboard if you're using one of the new LGA 1851 Intel Chips (Ultra Core) this is a great motherboard and easy to configure, with an excellent BIOS management system. In the box - ASUS TUF Z890 Motherboard - External WiFi (desk based) WiFi 7 antenna - Header Pins + Screws - Cables It's worth noting the ASUS TUF Z890 also has excellent M2/NVME cooling and it comes with a large generous heatsink already on the motherboard, with thermal tape. Setup, is a two part process - because Motherboard installation takes time and effort. I upgraded over a holiday weekend, taking some of the pressure off. Windows had no problem detecting the ASUS or installing all the necessary drivers (Realtek Audio, etc). I will say that ASUS Armory Crate/Aura Sync is one of the best in class tools for managing settings, including your RGB setup. I ended up deciding to over-ride using ASUS and go with Corsair (given my CPU Cooler is Corsair) and there were no compatability issues. The only catch or limitation I have found is the WiFi is no antennas you mount to the bank of your motherboard, but an external corded desk mount antenna. While I get that this is going to be better for WiFi 7 (I only have a WiFi 6 network) the desk mounted antenna is a bit light. I ended up using some silly putty to secure it to my desk so it didn't slide around. This is not a deal breaker, just worth knowing. As with all my motherboard reviews, I'm not posting benchmarks or frame rates as it depends on your specs and I (embarassingly) only a less than stellar graphics card which is next on my list to upgrade! That all said, I recommend this motherboard for all Intel Ultra series gamers.

This is an awesome gaming motherboard that supports the latest Intel Chipset. It was really easy to build my new gaming rig with and fit perfectly in my Phanteks case. Overall it does a really good job at heat distribution and was easy to install the processor and video card with. It has all the latest tech and works really well with liquid cooling to keep the entire computer cool. I also paired it with an Intel i9 processor from the Intel Core Ultra Series 2 line, the PC is blazing fast, surely in part due to this motherboard. The included WiFi 7 network card makes it perfect for high speed gaming and streaming without having to rely on a wired connection if you don't have one setup. Overall, I highly recommend this motherboard as it was easy to setup and install and is compatible with Intel's latest line of processors as well as the latest DDR5 memory making it easy to have a high end setup without worrying about any compatibility issues. It just worked out of the box and I found the build was shorter than previous ones.
