It kept on connecting and disconnecting every few seconds. I tried it on another computer with the same results. I called Asus technical support and the confirmed it was defective and told me to return it. I bought a different USB 5.0 adapter that uses the same chip as the Asus. This adapter works fine with Windows 10 recognizing it and installing the correct drivers.

There could be a lot of factors, you can try to use a different USB port and ensure to keep away from cordless phones, transmitters, heavy-duty motors, fluorescent lights, microwave ovens, refrigerators, and other industrial equipment to prevent signal interference or loss.
