It kept on connecting and disconnecting every few seconds. I tried it on another computer with the same results. I called Asus technical support and the confirmed it was defective and told me to return it. I bought a different USB 5.0 adapter that uses the same chip as the Asus. This adapter works fine with Windows 10 recognizing it and installing the correct drivers.

I'm happy to hear that the Bluetooth works but you are not pleased with the range. There could be a lot of factors, you can try to use a different USB port and ensure to keep away from cordless phones, transmitters, heavy-duty motors, fluorescent lights, microwave ovens, refrigerators, and other industrial equipment to prevent signal interference or loss.
