    it's a quick working laptop and decent specs. no keyboard light though. so working in a dimly lit area is not advised which is crazy considering the price of this product.

    Something is wrong with this computer in the way that they actually designed it and the brain that they use because I could not install Microsoft office then they tried it on a second one and it still wouldn't work that I actually had to return it and buy the Lenovo which ended up being worse. I would not recommend this product because you can't install Microsoft Office.

    Initially I thought this laptop was going to be a bargain. After restarting when the Windows update was downloaded the laptop never loaded again. It couldn’t complete the Windows update. Talk about a bad sign. So I had to return it the next day since it was unusable.

    Very very bad experience, ram performance was quite good as per the specifications. But some time it gets worse by freezing the screen and even the speaker is too much horrible. I’ve been using the system just to take calls, interviews. Not at all more than that, no movies or any activity that keep pressure on ram, still of bad experience.

    I bought this laptop in April, and the microphone has stopped working. Best Buy support has been unhelpful and is asking me to buy a membership, classifying this as a software issue. This is the worst product and the worst support I've ever experienced. I will never buy anything from Best Buy again.

    Don’t buy

    Garbage it’s running 100% cpu usage with nothing open fresh install of windows. Even after installing current drivers and updating everything possible even doing as much as updating the bios. Nothing, it’s just not worth it spend a hundred or so more and get something better. Also the speakers are completely silent at 100% unless you go into myASUS and fidget with the settings and turning on 3 different things only then does it sound a little better. Lastly the display is absolutely horrible reminds me of a tube tv.

    Misleading offer of Accidental Damage Cover

    The laptop itself seems to be OK, however I am annoyed by the way Asus makes you register the product and sign up for marketing communication under promises of Accidental Damaged Cover. It took me a while to figure everything out, but in the end I was told Asus did not offer Accidental Damage, because I purchased the laptop from BestBuy.

    Laptop was a great price but downloading was horrible. Trying to set up laptop and download updates and basic apps took over 24 hours. My Internet speed was more than adequate and still moved super slow. Returned device next after two days.

    Returned immediately. Computer came installed with Windows 11. Was not able to disable S Mode. Called Best Buy Support. They scheduled an appointment with Geek Squad. Was told there would be no charge. Geek Squad told me $40 charge when I got there . Would not budge. Lost a $400 sale over $40. Horrible customer service. Can’t give zero stars

      Windows 11 S Mode cannot be disabled. However, it can be switched to Windows 11 Home free. To successfully switch, WINDOWS 11 S Mode needs to be setup completely and activated online. Once this is completed, please go to Settings, Activation then click "Go to Store" and follow the wizard in order to switch the OS free. However, after researching the Intel Core-i3-1215U processor, I was convinced of its value and ended up buying two. These laptops offer excellent value for money, with impressive specifications for the price. One standout feature is the ease with which you can upgrade the machine: simply remove the bottom panel to add an extra 8GB of RAM for just $15, boosting the total to 16GB in a dual channel configuration. Additionally, it includes modern features such as USB-A and USB-C 3.2 ports, WiFi 6, and a PCIe Gen 4 M.2 slot—also easily accessible. The only slight drawbacks are the absence of a backlit keyboard and the use of a VA display, but these are minor concerns in an otherwise excellent budget-friendly laptop.

    delivery messed up, laptop so-so

    Delivery was sent to the wrong address with not communication or way to fix it. Laptop was located eventually even though customer service were completely unhelpful in the meanwhile. In the first few days of use, the most notable things about the laptop was that the screen randomly dims for no clear reason.

    Asus Vivo book X1404ZA-I38128 Ok for the price

    Model: X1404ZA-I38128 Bought as open box, excellent condition. Smelled a bit weird. No idea why. Otherwise seems like new. Only 33 hours on the HD when tested. Had an older laptop fall apart, emergently bought a non-OLED 14" Asus Zenbook. Motherboard likely died just out of warranty and cc company refused to lift a finger despite cc free extended warranty. LOL. Bought this in place of buying MB, fan, etc., to replace components on ZenBook. Don't expect too much from the Vivobook. They cut many corners to keep price very low, on sale for $230 new. Screen is quite usable, but poor angles etc. vs most laptops. Compared to other laptops, display panel is not that dim, despite reviews noting this. So about equally bright (or dim) to some other non-OLED screens I have compared it too. Eizo screen test shows very poor motion lag. So not for gaming or video work - I think much more expensive OLED screens would be far better. Keyboard is noisy and not backlit - so get a USB light for about $10-. Plastic body - but seems to be of reasonable quality. Only 1 USB C port (unsure of speed) and cannot be used to charge battery. So separate charger is required and included in box. 128GB NVME drive is pathetically small and very slow on ATTO and CD Mark tests. Comes with 8GB RAM. Others report RAM can be upgraded by buying an 8 (or 16) GB SO DIMM and you can replace the NVME drive at the same time. Being able to upgrade the memory is a big plus as unfortunately many new laptops come with non-upgradable soldered memory. Years ago, RAM and hard drives were easy and fast upgrades and only a few screws had to be dealt with (10 screws on the back of the vivobook). There is a (service) manual you can download to show how to do these upgrades from an Asus website. I do not know if the MB can handle PCIe4 NVME speeds. But even a PCIe3 at full speed would be much faster. Easy to get rid of Windows 11 S lockdown. Just remember that many apps will not load until you do this. Denbian Linux booting off a fast thumb (500GB Patriot Rage, 512GB PNY Pro Elite V2 or similar) drive worked well. There is a major wireless issue with the vivobook Wi-Fi card. Cannot find a Linux driver for the included card. I did not open the back to replace the Wi-Fi card with a $20-40 card. However, using a Dell laptop dock, I connected Linux via ethernet to the dock and USB C from dock to vivobook (no ethernet port on vivobook). Easier solution - used the $10- 802.11n USB A mini Wi-Fi thumb drive like device from my old desktop computer. Same for slightly larger USB A BT device - ZEXMTE. So, for Wi-Fi and BT you will lose USB port(s). Could also buy a 4:1 USB port extender, etc., but I did not test using these on the vivobook for the USB Linux drive, USB Wi-Fi or USB BT sticks. The highlight is the chip: i3-1215U. Benchmarks are fast for such a low-cost laptop. Compares well to the ZenBook chip. Benchmarks are about 3 x faster than my older i3-8130U 2018 laptop. For most office and many personal tasks, not sure that this makes a big difference for day-to-day use. For even moderate level gaming, video work or other CPU / GPU intensive tasks these less expensive laptops are not what you want. Have not had vivobook long enough to say much else. In the end not sure if it would have been better to get the MB and fan parts for the ZenBook repair at a similar price, but with no guarantee of success.
