Great and Affordable OLED Laptop!

Great laptop, especially for $500! Super high-contrast OLED display and very fast. Bought this to replace my 16" Lenovo Slim 5i because of a few nagging issues with the Lenovo. Thought I'd miss the 16" screen, but this is fine--the display, light weight, long battery life, and speed of this more than compensate for the different screen size. Very cool and quiet--the fan has only come on once when doing the initial Windows update. You can also set the keyboard backlight to an infinite variety of colors (only one at a time, though) in the MyAsus app settings. I haven't had any issues with the ARM architecture, but I don't use it for gaming and don't edit videos. As others have noted, it is a fingerprint magnet, but I can certainly live with that.

I got this on sale for $499 and it’s the best deal I’ve ever seen on a laptop. It’s fast, the OLED screen is amazing, and it weighs a little over 3 lbs, which makes it great for travel. The best part is that the 512 GB SSD is upgradeable (if you have a Torx T7 screwdriver!)

The screen on this laptop is awesome!!! Colors and content look amazing, and it feels very fluid and smooth.
The keyboard is okay... I'm not a fan of how it's shifted to the side to accommodate a number pad; It would have been much better with just a fully centered keyboard and top number row.
The touchpad is meh... decent, but not great. The clicks are not that satisfying.
The performance has been good, and the battery life has been very solid. I did need to do some work to optimize things. It comes with a lot of bloat.
With all those gripes listed, the core of it is great. It does what I need it to for school, and it was an awesome deal at $497 with tax included.

The laptop is just what I expected it be. It is thin and the battery lasts a good amount of time. It is able to handle a lot of applications at once, as I usually have 10+ tabs open at one time. Overall, I would recommend this device to all students.

I’ve been using this now for 6 weeks for basic “office work” and couldn’t be more happy with the purchase. Thin, lightweight, great screen quality, and plenty of connection ports. Super long battery life! For the price point I think this is really hard to beat.

Decent little chromebook. Quick to respond and easy to setup. Using it to take online courses and note taking.
Keyboard is responsive and quite. The backlight can be changed in settings. Quick buttons for brightness and volume.
Display is pretty. Not as deep as most OLED monitors. But color is still vivid. Speakers are clear. Better than average laptops but nothing to write home about. Track pad is okay. Average.
Cost wise brand new is little much. I found one open box with everything included. Laptop in brand new shape. Worth at a discount.

The killer feature of this laptop is the 15.6" widescreen HDR 3K OLED with 600 nit peak brightness and 100% DCI-P3 colors (at a Black Friday price). Combined with the speakers, very light weight, fans that are mostly off, cool operating temperatures, and high battery efficiency, it's a truly outstanding machine for watching videos, as well as web browsing and light office work. I don't know why HDR isn't on by default as it only kicks in for HDR content, so make sure to turn it on.
Definitely not a gaming machine, but some low-spec games may work OK.
The Snapdragon X Plus is plenty fast for ARM-optimized Windows applications (which are most of the most popular ones as of late 2024), and the Prism x86 emulator works OK for most, but not all, of the others, so be aware of this. windowsonarm.org is worth checking out if you have any "must" applications before buying, it will tell you Native/Beta/Emulated/Not Supported. Make sure to install the ARM64 edition if available.
Good keyboard, RGB backlight, and I like the Windows Hello infared camera login. Pretty fast to login.
Microsoft really wants Copilot to be a selling point. Some people seem to really care about AI, but personally I don't.
Touchpad is meh. Consider a good wireless mouse.

I have had this new Vivobook S15 for a month. Its comfortable to type on. Took no time to adjust to this from a very old Dell Latitude 6430 14". The OLED screen is incredible, Sound is as good or better than other laptops. The build appears to be very good. Its feels light but virtually all laptops do compared to 10+ yr old laptop. Fast download/upload speeds of 365mbps/11mbps using standard Spectrum internet. Chose this over a Dell that was same price on sale because of the OLED monitor. I'm impressed for the price.

The battery life on this machine is phenomenal. Even better is the weight of the machine as it weighs about the same as my old Dell power source alone. These are the 2 things that my college aged son was looking for.

Good Laptop but Screen Flickering Hurts Rating

Purchased in early November, I was very eager to test out the Qualcomm ARM CPU experience as the reviews for the laptops powered by these CPU's had been good. Performance wise, I concur with the reviews, the performance is quite good and the specs are good for the price. This laptop has the OLED screen which is very much appreciated in this price range, but it has been very problematic for me. The screen has a flicker that causes it to go black and then come back on, several times an hour. All of the drivers are up to date, I've reinstalled the package with the video driver, and nothing I do resolves the issue. I have almost taken it back to Best Buy a couple of times but I am hoping I discover the cause of this, which I think might be software related, or an update from Microsoft or Asus comes along and the problem gets resolved.
Overall, the machine has decent build quality, there is some flex in the deck, but that is probably to be expected with a laptop so thin and light. The screen, when not flickering, displays gorgeous colors and HDR content and seems quite color accurate.
Storage and memory are both totally fine and quite fast and WiFi 7 will come in handy down the line.
I hate to knock the score down on the machine but really, this screen issue, it's a major problem and I don't know if I just got a bad display or if this is a software issue. I may end up returning it if I can't get a resolution on my own.

Dear Jblank,
Thank you for your feedback.
We certainly understand your concern regarding the flickering screen. To resolve this problem, please ensure Windows is up to date. Additionally, please try to connect the laptop to another known good power source or AC outlet and away from electronic or electrical devices that maybe generating excessive electrical or RF noise. Uncleaned power source or faulty electrical or electronic device that is generating excessive electrical noise can disturb static-sensitive devices or components in the laptop that may cause the screen to flick. If you need further assistance, please email me at [email protected] and I would be more than glad to help. Should you need further assistance with the product, please email me at [email protected] and I would be more than happy to help. Snapdragon X laptops truly do have outstanding battery life. This model in particular also comes with a metal chassis, high quality webcam (quality only found in snapdragon x laptops), and a gorgeous display. Since Snapdragon laptops have not taken off as expected, they are often on discount, making the value of these devices even better. If your daily apps are compatible with Windows on ARM, this laptop will blow you away. This laptop has the lowest powered snapdragon x plus chip available, but it performed just fine for office tasks. I did notice lag when running non ARM-Native applications, but this is expected due to the translation layer.

This device offers fantastic value for the price. The 120Hz OLED screen is sharp and vivid, with excellent contrast, and it's notably better than the M3 MacBook Air's display. The touchpad is responsive, and the battery life is exceptional, rivalling what Apple Silicon can achieve.
However, app compatibility is an issue. As it's ARM-based, developers haven't fully supported it for Windows yet, though this will hopefully improve soon. I've encountered a few apps that don't work, which is expected for early adopters.
Overall, this is a great laptop now, but it has the potential to truly shine in the future as app compatibility increases.
