Slowed down dramatically as it gets hot. I suspect broken fan, which would be poor QC for this product, but it never turns on. Not even while running bechmarks and encoding at the same time. Returning.

All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, this is a random problem.
Normally, ASUS provides one year warranty coverage, if product was purchased brand-new, in order to fix or repair any hardware or, part that stop working prematurely under normal usage.

I agree with all the positive reviews regarding performance and ergonomics. I will add more details once either Best Buy or ASUS helps me get the speakers working. I can get sound thru the headphone jack and HDMI connection and Bluetooth, but the built in speakers are not working. I am hoping it's either a setting in the OS or sound driver but if not I'll have to return to Best Buy for a replacement. I'll update this post. If ASUS support has anything easy I can try please let me know. Thank You

Pretty decent for a simple laptop

Only thing is the keys are very light and cannot see the letters, numbers, symbols well. Noticing slow speeds at times and trouble with zoom at times. Needs constant restart.

Multiple Defective Units!

Getting a working machine seems worse odds than the lottery at this point. I have returned this unit TWICE and will have to return it a third time. Each one was defective. First one kept getting a "hardware" error. Second one had to be reset 3 times because updates would not download properly. Then the fan would randomly go on full blast and not shut off. We are talking fan running when had been off for hours so was not an overheating or too much memory usage issue. Now the THIRD unit's keyboard will intermittently stop working. I have to shut everything off and restart to get it working again. I have had it ONE DAY and this has happened 4 TIMES. The keyboard driver was removed and reinstalled and still no luck. This is not worth the frustration or miles driven to exchange the thing.

Do understand your disappointment with the product if you are experiencing stability or performance issue with the laptop.
These issues are temporary during the initial WINDOWS setup and before installing cumulative WINDOWS Update, regardless what brand name of computer this may be. This may take a longer time depending on the network traffic from the update server and the stability of your high-speed internet service. Also, laptop will do several system reboot, black screen temporarily or restart during the update process.
Once initial setup and WINDOWS Update installation completed, system speed or performance will be optimized. Keeping Windows updated will maintain optimum system stability and performance.
If the above-mentioned steps were already performed to no avail, please try to run a diagnostics or optimization test using the "My ASUS" utility software or application. If this is not pre-installed on the laptop, please download the application at the Microsoft Store. For details on how to use "My ASUS", please go to: https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1041686/.
While accessing web applications, please make sure the laptop has access to an established router and internet service is working properly since this will definitely affect system speed and performance.

The laptop has a sleek and polished design with a very durable build. The internals aren't the top specks, but the 8gb of memory with the ryzen gpu should get you through most moderate to heavy workloads and light gaming if you desire. I would recommend to anyone who is looking for a laptop in this price range.
