Reasonably priced laptop

I’m impressed, especially given the reasonable price. I’m using this Zenbook for home usage including video watching, web browsing, and email. I’ve experienced solid battery life. For example, last weekend I streamed (using active Wi-Fi the entire time) 3 movies on a single charge. This means that battery life is at least 6 hours in real life usage, a solid amount for a moderately priced PC. Performance is great. I’ve experienced no slowdowns even with multiple applications (Word, Mail, and Edge) running simultaneously, and with approximately 15 open browser tabs. The only computer game I play regularly is Solitaire, and that’s performed as well as on any other PC I’ve used. Video quality is very good. I write a lot of documents, so character resolution is particularly important for me. The Zenbook delivers on that with reasonable contrast and sharp letter definition. For movie watching colors are accurate, brightness is strong, and side viewing angle is reasonable. My only gripe with the Zenbook is the relatively dim keyboard backlight. It works fine in the dark, but in a lighted room it’s difficult to discern which key is which. The keys are well-spaced and have appropriate springiness. The trackpad is large, and accurately responds to touch and clicks. The build quality is great, with a relatively light weight and attractive metallic grey finish. In summary, this is a great laptop that I’d strongly recommend for those seeking a computer well less than $1000.

It is recommended to turn it off or adjust the keyboard brightness level while working in a well illuminated workspace, by tapping the hotkeys, "Fn + F7", repeatedly. Also, try to adjust the brightness level on the keys base the illumination of your work area.

Geek Squad fixed it the first time (replaced motherboard) and then I had to bring it back for the same problem about a month after that. Best Buy just refunded me after the second return so that I could try something else.
