    Asus' ZenBook Flip is not a flop

    This laptop has some great features for lower-end power uses and is a high performer in most instances. I've had two issues to date and they both may be deal-breakers: (1) The performance of the keyboard and touchpad are far below those of Asus' competitors. Only after I bought the computer did I look at the troubleshooting posts on various sites. The cursor has a will of its own sometimes (not a great thing for writers), and the touchpad is incapable of select-clicking on cells (or at least the cells I want to select). (2) When the screen refreshes, it sometimes goes to black. This is scarey with a new computer.

    I use it for school and games occasionally, I wasn't really a fan of the sound at first, but I got use to it. Also it runs out of battery more faster than other laptops I used. Other than that I think it is good.

    Speakers are not good at all....it doesn't have good volume when it comes to sounds, videos, music, etc. Easy to navigate.

    Great 2n1 system. Sleek, seems somewhat strong for a 2n1 type. Better hinges than Lenovo. Specs are really good.

    I purchased this laptop on Aug 5, 2022 at $799.99. Excited to have found a brand-new laptop that had so much to promise, with all the features that seemed to be an upgrade from my old laptop, I went ahead and copied all of my personal and official files that I had stored in the last 20 years. Mostly official documents, and personal data that I had saved and that could fit in two flash drives. Everything seemed to work fine until beginning of October of 2022 (only two months after the purchase), when there was a required Windows update after which my computer completely crashed, and all data including windows seemed to have been lost and deleted after it restarted with a black screen and an error message. I have been a computer user since 1998. I work with computer; I use it for personal use at home and for office work during the week. Needless to say, everything EVERYTHING was lost after a simple Windows update. I contacted customer support immediately and was advised to send the laptop to ASUS for repairs. Which I did at my own expense. I did not receive the laptop back until 2nd week of November. In the meantime I was using an old laptop that I had to borrow from my office, which had no useful data on and I had to go through the headache of starting from scratch once again. Since then I have had 28 communications with ASUS customer support. All they have offered me has been an apology with no significant resolution. Once I received the laptop back, you’d expect that the product would be fixed and working perfectly. However, ever since, the startup times exceed 10minutes. Opening a browser takes several minutes. Working with a Microsoft Word, or Excel is nearly impossible due to crashes, freezing and long processing. All of the products I use on my laptop are genuine paid for products. It is so embarrassing. I am not able to complete my tasks for my office job in a timely manner, and it is not practical to have a laptop anymore, I am forced to go on my smart phone to do work. Please note, I am also up-to-date with Windows Updates. I had to contact back ASUS 10 days after receiving the laptop to tell them the laptop is now performing even worse. This experience brings me back to 1998, when the computers were slow and underperforming, but even back then Windows 98 used to run better than what I am experiencing with this laptop. This has been a terrible experience overall. And what ASUS customer care is offering is that I send the laptop back once again so they can take another look at it. I can no longer accept to be left without (even a slightly working) laptop for a month and a half and I told them that I demand a replacement or a new laptop for which I am ready to pay the price difference. I have escalated the issue with ASUS however their best foot forward was to offer a “recertified replacement” as a courtesy. 800$ wasted on a terrible product. Instead of providing a real working solution, and an apology for the trouble this has caused me, aside from my missing data that had nothing to do with an error I am responsible for. This has been a nightmare. This was my first ever ASUS purchase, and I will not let anyone in my family or circle even think about purchasing.
