Light and Thin and Bright! Touchscreen is Precise!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Asus Zenbook 2-in-1 solves that touch screen generation problem... You know, when you stare at a screen, and then you go to tap/swipe/pinch to zoom, only to remember you're on your computer, and not a tablet or a phone? Well here we are! As far as hardware goes, this laptop is jam packed. 12th Gen Core i7, with 16gb of RAM and an SSD all stack together for a very quick machine when running Windows 11. I was on the fence about the Intel Arc A370M Graphics card, but with it's discrete memory, and obvious Intel integration and Microsoft support, it's humming along quickly and smoothly. The 15.6-inch display is BRIGHT, and colorful. A number of certifications and calibrations accompany this display, that you'll likely overlook like I did, until you splash something on the screen that blows you away in terms of color reproduction and clarity, and then you'll want to know the why and the how. There are a number of built in display modes that can be toggled using the included ASUS apps, but I've settled into 2 and don't deviate much from those two. Low light and Night Mode performance are also spectacular. Battery life right out of the box is enough for me to pack my old laptop away. This laptop is also some of the first to be shipped with Wifi6, and I haven't noted a marked difference yet, but I'm hoping to do some side by side testing with a non wifi6 device on my Wifi6 Mesh router system. The folding screen is a little bit of a double edged sword, and this is where I knocked them down a star. If you're going to pack this much ability into a screen, I was a little annoyed that the Asus pen was not included, as it's mentioned various times in the marketing materials, and it's an additional purchase. Other laptops that I've had have solved the whole "flip the screen all the way around" issue a few different ways, but so far I find I can't do that with this laptop because there is no easy way or shortcut to disable the keyboard once it's flipped flat, which means just handling the laptop resulted in key presses. I would have loved to see a sensor here, like so many other devices, that disables the keyboard once the screen hinge gets past a certain extension. The touchscreen itself is amazing and responsive, and I do find myself using it a lot. Another point to note - the build in power profiles may throttle the computer enough to be annoying when you work unplugged, if you're not aware of how they're set up, or when you get into the dregs of your battery. Last but not least, the laptop ships with a substantial power brick and proprietary barrel connector, even through the machine charges over USB-C/Thunderbolt, which is puzzling. Other ASUS products I own came with higher wattage USB-C bricks, I can't figure out why this one insisted on adding another proprietary connector to my stable. Overall this laptop is well made, very thin and light, and I LOVE the screen colors and brightness. I would recommend, and this one has replaced all others in my house as the primary machine.

Posted .Dear Thebrenn,
Indeed, it is a great laptop with a very nice aesthetic.
We certainly understand your concern about the screen blacking out at random times. To resolve the issue, please update the video drivers. The screen blacking out may occur while the laptop is applying updates in the System Registry.

Blown away by the screen
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had other laptops that had the touchscreen and flipped backwards. They were OK and worked well. The OLED screen on this is amazing. It's like a small TV! It's crystal clear and perfect for anyone wanting to stream movies or do some light gaming. We recently started camping and I was able to download movies to take this with and have the kids watch when they needed a little break. The sound clarity on this was surprisingly good for a laptop. The battery on this is better than most of the laptops I've previously used. The metal exterior is super nice and just feels like good quality. It feels strong and sturdy which doesn't always happen with thinner laptops. It charges quickly and isn't loud while you're using it. I was happy with how quickly it set up and that I didn't need to sign into a bunch of things to get up and running. The windows os was easy to sign into get my apps downloaded. This is a great multi use option for a family computer. Adding a stylus will make homework a breeze. If a decent laptop with an amazing screen is what you're looking for, look no further.

Good laptop overall!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.(Please note, I received this product as part of a free sample program) I really enjoy this laptop. I've owned several laptops in my life, including ASUS and I would have to say this is one of the best. Is it over the top amazing? No, but it does have some good features. The screen resolution is pretty amazing. If you're able to watch something in 8K, you'll be amazed and the clarity and colors that you'll see. The Dolby surround sound is also amazing when watching a movie or video. Battery life is up to par with other laptops these days, and the computer itself is fairly fast when processing. The few flaws that I've come across as of now (only owned it for a few weeks): The power button is on the side of the computer and sticks out. If you pick up your laptop to move it, or grab it on the sides to slide it around like you're trying to get it in the right spot in front of you, you'll most likely hit the power button and put the computer to sleep. NOT a huge deal, but can be a little annoying. There have been a few times that I've closed the lid to step away and when I come back, sometimes it takes a while for the internet to reconnect, and also sometimes, my taskbar at the bottom is gone (no icons) and I've had to restart my machine. This isn't something that should really happen with a brand new laptop, but it's done it a few times. When the laptop is flipped and placed like a teepee or a tent, the volume sounds muffled - I would say if you want to watch a movie or video, keep it set up like the normal laptop mode. Other than these few little issues, I really do like it. It's not too heavy/bulky, the keyboard is really nice as the keys are super thin but very responsive. The touch screen is really unique, ESPECIALLY if you have children who are used to having iPads and other devices that you have to touch in order to operate. That's the world they know and this kind of laptop give you and then the best of both worlds. I would definitely recommend!

Has some quirks but pretty good laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a longtime user of ASUS products from their motherboards to their GPUs to their laptops and even back in the day some of their desktops too before I went to fully building my own. Unfortunately, laptops aren't there yet and so I resort to of course getting a new laptop when that time comes. This Zenbook Flip 2-in-1 is a pretty good laptop with a few quirks. What do I mean exactly? For one, I work from a fullsize keyboard all day and to then switch to using this once I'm not working has been kind of a nuisance. However, this laptop is a smaller one and so it doesn't have enough space for a full size qwerty keyboard with the 10 keys to the side, so it would be impossible to have the full size & normal layout 10 keys. That is the one that is tripping me up the most when I got to use it. I am constantly hitting Enter when I mean to hit a different key, or I hit the period button when I mean to hit the 0. It will just take some getting used to I think but I have given it a bit and my brain just cannot make that leap to: "it isn't there and instead its here" just yet. Next, be 100% sure that you know which model number will get you the GlideX Premium for free. I thought this one was listed but it is not. Kind of a bummer and feels kinda bad to not have it when this is a rather nice laptop but I suppose they have their reasons for doing so. Alas I don't get to use it unless I buy it (I did, monthly). The only other real problem I have and I can't seem to understand why is that WiFi speeds are pretty far off from what I can get with say my smart phone which is an iPhone 11 Pro Max. This thing should smoke it when connecting to my Ubiquiti UniFi Dream Router but it just doesnot do so. My phone will pull 600-800+mbps but this laptop is showing about 100mbps. I am not 100% sure why but I am only using this for browsing the web and so I do not care about raw speed so not a super horrible problem for me at this time. All in all it has some quirks but it has a beautiful screen that is 120Hz and so I tested some fast paced video on it and am extremely happy with how smooth it looked so far. I will be doing much more testing in the future with it. Would I recommend this laptop to someone? Yeah, I would tell them everything I have written here but I absolutely would if they were looking for one within this price point.

Amazing screen display, light, a few annoyances
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have only had it for a few days. I was an HP girl so this was a BIG switch for me. So far what I like ... + WOW on the screen display. So vivid! Images are bright and clear, makes other laptop screens look like old time movies from decades ago in comparison. + Very lightweight, much less bulky than what I was used to. + Love the blue! Silver and black get so boring. + Good overall size, not too small, not too big, just perfect! + Slightly off center touch pad is actually awesome for a right handed mouse user. Gives great space to use the mouse on the device. (I never use the touchpad.) A few annoyances: - Only 1 traditional USB port. Already hating that and struggling to juggle or have an external hub. :( - Power button on the right edge near the front. Horrible placement. I'm constantly putting the screen to sleep as I slightly adjust or shift the device on my lap. If it had to be on the side it really needed to be near the back. On the top of the device would be even better, less likely to bump it. - Backlighting of the keyboard is not very bright. Adjustable but still disappointing at full brightness. - Fingerprints are awful. On the screen is somewhat expected, but particularly bad on the outside (top) of the laptop. Totally ruins the sleek nice look of the blue. - 10-key touch is crowded. (But for the size of the device I guess necessary. Fuller layout here would mean bigger overall I suppose.) - Don't like that you have to use function button for Home/End, Page Up/Page Down. (Again probably helps with the compact overall size.) - Would be very helpful if Number Lock had an indicator for on or off, just like Caps Lock. - Really wish the charging port was on the left side. (Just a dumb thing I was used to but works better with how I'm set up.) Overall a really great laptop, probably too much for what I need. My teenagers were jealous and said I essentially bought a gaming laptop with these specs!! :)

King of the On the Go Video Edit
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.- [ ] This laptop is my superb new addition to my mobile video editing lab. I also have a Lenovo yoga pad and the Asus is my new go to ! I love it because it has built in sd ports for quick edit on the go which really matters when I’m traveling. No additional cords to pack or needed like my MacBook. Combine that with the touch screen and my edits are a breeze. Also battery life is top tier and is the best of any labtop I’ve owned Mac or windows. On quick trips I don’t even bring the AC plug for it. I love to leave all my tabs up because on my various projects, and it process all like a breeze. So far very impressed with this laptop that packs a punch in the things that matter for me in a laptop pc. ( received this product as part of a free sample program)
