Phenomenal Laptop. Quick, good battery life, touchscreen is reliable, light for the build, and make is sturdy. Everything I needed from creating powerpoints, streaming movies, providing in-person and online lectures.

It has taken some time to get used to a new computer, but I love it and am very satisfied with our purchase. We did a lot of research and asked a lot of questions before choosing the Asus Zenbook Flip 2-in-1.

Sadly, I've been through two of these devices and arrived at the same results: Asus has not designed the entire device to meet the needs of the separate components and perform to expectations.
1. CPU is both underpowered at 80W PL2 vs Intel's required 115W to achieve 4.7Ghz AND under-cooled causing the processor package to reach 95C at a mere 4.2Ghz and throttle down to 3.8Ghz or lower each time due to poor cooling system thermodynamics. Meaning: as tested, this laptop performs in the bottom 8th percentile of all other laptops with the same CPU across more than 1000 tests.
2. The RAM is timed with a very high latency. As configured and tested, the LPDDR5 16GB memory package performs slower than 5 year old DDR4 memory. Samsung supports XMP 3 for their DDR5 with better timings and latency, but Asus has chosen to not implement to specifications again, resulting in poor memory performance.
3. The A370m GPU leaves much to be desired. In short, it will aid low demand creative applications but you can forget about 3D gaming and demanding creative suites.
Aside from that, the screen is beautiful and bright, SSD performance is up to mark, keyboard is nice for a laptop/notebook, and the battery is great.
In general, there are a handful of choices with the same or better specs that outperform this model. Asus has impressed us with the specifications but tricked us with the reality of experience and performance.

How did ASUS come up with this laptop. If I go spec to spec, then there is not a single laptop with the same specs at the same price. OLED screen, i7 12700H, A370M, flip screen, 96 wh battery and above all 120 hz. Amazing value this laptop is - kudos Asus! There is something missing with all competing laptops.
All the above mentioned specs are really great - the oled screen with 120 hz refresh rate is amazing. The styling, build quality and all the features are spot on. The only ones missing are a 1080p webcam and probably a gen 4 SSD but at this price, these specs are just too good to be true.
the laptop is fast, quite, and has good battery life for a 15 inch screen. Pretty much all the reviews have been spot on; just wanted to mention the value you are getting with all these specs. Great job Asus!
Intel needs to step up here with more power efficient chips. these alder lake chips just take up too much power; cannot fault Asus for trying to cool these off.

I enjoy using this laptop, especially the feature of numbers keypad on the right side, besides the ones on top. I don't like some of the changes in Windows 11, like saving folders and saving websites for easy access. The toolbar is different as well. The spacebar sometimes freezes, I'm not sure the cause, but usually I can work through it. Eventually, I will have to seek help from the Geek squad, if the manual doesn't provide clarity. Touch screen works well, folded or not, when using as a tablet.

Screen: 5/5
Amazing! The resolution is high enough that I have to put my face within 6" of the screen to see any pixels, it's very bright for HDR content (like sear you eyes bright if you try it at night) and the colors and blacks look amazing too. The screen is also wide enough to multitask.
Keyboard: 5/5
Nice and roomy with a very satisfying click feel. All the keys are where you expect, and I don't find myself accidentally hitting any keys like on other laptops. The num pad is only about 75% as wide as full size, but it's full height and is still natural to touch-type on if you are used to a 10 key.
Trackpad: 5/5
It's shorter than on a Macbook so it doesn't look as impressive, but it actually feels really spacious to use. It's the same aspect ratio as the screen, and it's centered on the keyboard and is just exactly the maximum size to still be able to type without accidentally touching it. Great design decision.
Speakers: 4/5
Very loud for a laptop, I haven't ever felt the need to use them past 50%, and they don't get blocked when using the laptop on your lap. (They fire at a 45 degree angle.) The sound quality is kind of muddy and lacks bass though, and you definitely need to play with the equalizer because the default setting is garbage.
Gaming: 2/5
This laptop *can* play games, but it gets so hot I wouldn't recommend it. I got Cyberpunk 2077 working at 40-50 FPS on medium settings. However I was wearing shorts, and when it touched my bare leg it felt like it was burning me. Not even joking. And that was only after 10 minutes.
Style: 4/5
Definitely one of the better looking laptops in person. The matte finish is classy, and all the surfaces feel sturdy and premium to the touch. It's a little better looking and feeling than the Lenovo it's replacing, and way better than the Dell laptop I use at work. Only minus one star because Apple and Samsung are so sleek that it looks kind of plain in comparison.
Other:
Power button is in an awkward spot. I found myself accidentally pressing the power button when I didn't mean to, so I set it to "do nothing" in the power settings. It still turns the laptop on, but I use the start menu to turn it off. There is no fingerprint reader, and windows hello only works around 90% of the time. But it does still work in a dark room.
Battery life seems fine, 2-3 hours of casual use only drains like 25%.
This laptop fits perfectly on an airplane tray table, the front pocket of rolling luggage, or in the laptop sleeve of a small backpack.
The power brick is reasonable, but it also charges with a regular USB C cell phone charger if space is tight.
It starts up quickly and feels nice and snappy to use. I haven't managed to slow it down with anything except games.
Conclusion:
I would give this laptop a 4/5, but then I would also expect it to cost around $2000 just based on look and feel. Since it's actually way cheaper it gets 5/5.

1/13/2023. Owned the Q529ZD Zenbook Pro Flip for a month to replace an old PC and add a 2-1 tablet funtion. Looked hard at Lenovo, Samsung Chromebook Pro, etc on Xmas deals but grabbed the Q529. Can't beat the CPU specs, love the strong-n-blue chassis, amazing screen w/ touch, keyboard feel...and the flip into a tablet! Should have been the cats meow for me BUT... : (
Very sad but had to return since this battery couldn't last more the 5-6hrs of simple web usage even with latest BIOS, windows updates, running all lowest power settings, dimmed screen with wifi on & bluetooth off. Tried to refresh battery from 100-0% few times. No way this one is making 9hrs longterm per ASUS 12/27/2022 spec on "balenced power" settings. Geeksquad said battery tested 100% "functional". Windows 11 battery report estimated 5.8hr expected life and full capacity down from 96 to 82Wh after 3 weeks of use.
I'd buy again if a new battery lasted ~9hrs and went on sale again.
ASUS give me a call.

Dear MikeR,
It's great to know that laptop is perfect for your computing needs and you loved the amazing design or aesthetics.
We certainly understand your disappointment and the inconvenience this may have caused if the battery only last less than 6 hours. All ASUS products undergo intensive quality control testing and inspections, the battery draining faster than normal is a random problem. If you did refresh the battery and the issue persisted, please check if Windows is up to date in order to keep power management services current. Verify if no power-hungry applications, processes or services are running in the background. If these steps were performed to no avail, we recommend sending the laptop in for warranty service in order to determine if the battery is faulty or other component is causing the problem. To send it in for service a RMA number is required. For more information about RMA, please go to: https://www.asus.com/us/support/article/818. If you need more information or further assistance with the warranty for the product, please email me at [email protected] and I would be more than happy to help. Or, you are most welcome to call Product Support Hotline at: 1(888) 678-3688. Also, you can chat with an ASUS live support agent at: http://bit.ly/AsusLiveChat.

So much to like - except the battery life

This is an excellent laptop, with one big exception - the battery life. The power brick is almost as heavy as the laptop itself...and yet I don't get any more longevity away from it than my 3+ year old ASUS I'm upgrading from. Yes, I've updated my BIOS, yes, I've updated Windows, etc., etc.
I can only get about 3 hours reliably away from an AC outlet. That's with only a couple of tabs open, and maybe 1 or 2 Microsoft programs running. I normally have 10-20 tabs open throughout the course of a day, along with some combination of Outlook, Word, and Excel - often all 3 or more. Zooming on battery? Forget it. Barely an hour.
For a laptop at this (very high) price point, that's extremely surprising and disappointing.
I'm also disappointed that it only has a micro SD slot and not a full size slot for camera cards.
Yes, the screen is indeed terrific. I edit photos and haven't had a chance to do so yet, but am looking forward to it. I also love that I can now use a laptop outside, even on a sunny day (in the shade) and get work done.
It's so nice not to have a gray or silver case! I did purchase a removable laptop skin to avoid scratching the cover. It does pick up fingerprints, but a careful wipe with a lens or microfiber cloth took care of them.
Win 11 was quick to get used to, and I appreciate the laptop didn't come loaded with lots of junk software to remove.
This is my 3rd or 4th ASUS laptop, so I think they are a quality brand. Would love to give it 5 stars, but the short battery life is a serious drawback. I'd give it a 3.5 if I could, due to the battery.

Very good OLED screen, flip, memory, graphics. But beware, the battery is horrific. The nine [9] hours Asus states is based on some very specific, limiting criteria. Under normal use it is a stretch. Known issue. They replaced my battery and the new one is no better.
