Superb laptop

I installed Fedora Sericea alongside Windows, both encrypted (Windows w/ Bitlocker, Fedora w/ LUKS), and I'm able to use all the functionality on both.

Great Graphics and Battery Life in Light Laptop
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The Asus Zenbook S 14 is a well made and lightweight 14 inch laptop with a beautiful 3K OLED touch screen, Intel Arc graphics, and the latest Intel Core Ultra 7 Generation 2 processor. It has an NPU and qualifies as a Copilot + PC. In actual operation, it performed well in general computing tasks such as WEB browsing, 3D print modeling and slicing, and watching youtube videos. Although the processor is apparently not as fast as the previous generation, the combination with the ARC graphics made it very capable even in gaming. The following are the features that I liked most about the laptop: Build quality and weight - The laptop weighs 2.65 pounds and has an excellent build quality. Screen - The 3K, 120Hz, 500 NITS, OLED screen is bright and excellent for watching videos. Battery life - The battery lasts well over a day for general computing activities. Sound - Sound was extremely clear and loud whether listening to music or watching youtube videos. Probably the best that I have heard from a 14 inch laptop. Backlit Keyboard - The keyboard was very good with excellent backlighting. Graphics performance - The ARC graphics performed very well for a small laptop. Copilot + (NPU unit) - The addition of an NPU unit and Copilot + is a nice addition that should become more useful with time. I highly recommend the Asus Zenbook S14 to anyone looking for a quality portable laptop with excellent battery life and very good graphics performance.

Works great but got unlucky

Worked good for a month, then out of no where it started overheating and the fans were going full speed and sounded like a jet. Idle hitting 97C. Warranty resolved the issue but still unhappy with how fast it failed. But other than the failure, the laptop is perfect and it use it everyday for work.

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought a Zenbook in 2016, and were it not for the combination of Windows 10 support ending soon and the uncertainty around tariffs, I would not have invested in a new laptop. The Zenbook S14 received rave reviews for a number of reasons, namely its battery and display. And since 95% of my use is for streaming, it seemed like a no-brainer when it went on sale. But there have been constant problems with the display - it repeatedly goes to sleep in the middle of episodes, it opens with a black background when logging in, and yesterday it wouldn't turn on at all, followed by flickering and flashing until I was able to restart it. At that point I installed the recommended updates from MyAsus, and now it also won't connect to the external monitor without fuzziness and red streaks. And Asus customer service won't connect to assist. It has been a disaster of a purchase.

Bad Warranty! Terrible reliability on display.

Appears to be a common problem with ASUS laptops. The bigger issue is ASUS and Best Buy not honoring the 1 year warranty. ASUS claims the warranty started 7 months before I bought the unit as a "new other" open box with assurances from Best Buy that it came with a 1 year warranty for parts and labor. The website for best buy lists "1 year parts and labor" in the description of the open box unit. The sales person assured me at time of sale that the one year warranty applied to the unit. Now that it needs repair, Best Buy tells me its not covered. In essence if you buy anything that's open box, Best Buy is selling it to you AS IS, not informing you of this and even lying about it having warranty coverage to get their returned items off their selves by cheating their customers.
