I ended up returning this laptop because it was a bit too large for the desk space available. Wish I had more room, because this laptop was amazing. Beautiful display, light weight, speedy.

A computer for ADHD and Visual Snow Syndrome?

This computer is my daily driver and I use it for school. It's my baby. I'm light sensitive + am prone to eyestrain (I have Visual Snow Syndrome), yet I experience almost no eye strain with this computer, or other zenbooks, probably having to do with the glossy Oled display. My eyes do get fatigued when the colors are set to Vivid in the driver settings, but I went in and changed the colors to web standard or something like that and I have no problems. I notice fine details that most people wouldn't, so screens with low PPI drive me nuts (and also give me eye strain), but I feel like this display is beautiful and I can read for long periods of time without having problems. The large screen also helps me focus. I also have ADHD so I try to bring beauty into whatever it is I'm working on in order to stay focused, and this computer does that. The caraluminum is a fun texture that I love to touch, same with the aluminum body. The keys are soft and make a nice sound, the touch screen is also soft, and like I said, the display is lovely. It's pretty so it keeps my attention longer. THIS COMPUTER DOES GET HOT!!! That is its achilles heel. To me, I just see it as something that can be worked around. I'm at one year of use and so far it's not an issue that's so big that it disrupts its function. However, if I plug it in while I'm doing any kind of demanding task, sometimes even watching a video, it can get quite hot and the fans start blowing. Sometimes I'll plug it in for a bit, and when it gets too hot, I'll unplug it for a bit, wait, then plug it back in. I don't have this problem if it's plugged in while asleep or off, it's just when I'm using it. Its battery life is reliable and it charges quickly so I don't experience its getting hot while charging as a huge issue. That being said, I feel like you do have to be careful with it around this problem. This computer gets a lot of flack but honestly I personally love it and it fits all of my very niche needs. It's the only computer I've come across that actually fits those needs, so its flaws are a tradeoff I don't have a problem making. It you want a lightweight 16 inch computer with beautiful aesthetics, a screen that is gentle on the eyes, fast performance, and reliable battery life, then this is for you, if you don't mind the fact that it does get hot when plugged in. If youre using it for schoolwork, reading, videos, and light video editing, then I recommend it. If youre looking for a dedicated gaming computer, then I can't recommend this one, unless youre playing something light like Stardew Valley or Undertale.

Upside: The screen size is a full 16 inches. The processor works great and is very fast in the Windows 11 environment. Hopefully this will allow a Windows 12 upgrade. The salesperson didn't really say. Otherwise, Windows updates were made very quickly. The keyboard returns me to the regular QWERTY keyboard without the extended number keypad on the right, which I've never needed. So far sound is great and the colors are fantastic. Downside: There are very few ports: only one USB 3.x (on the right side) and two USB-C (on the left side), making it necessary to purchase a hub for using external hard drives and printers at the same time, both of which are USB 3.0. Best Buy had only one hub in stock at the store, very limited. I had to go to other retailers for my new peripherals. Also the power cord uses one of the USB-C ports rather than having a stand alone power input (similar to headphone jack) that my previous ASUS laptop utilized. Not a very smart design as far as ports are concerned. The touch pad has a limited sweet spot when right and left clicking, but I prefer using a mouse which is much quicker anyway, thus use of an external port is necessary, but I can use the touch pad when necessary. The screen dims pretty quickly when it is on battery and haven't had a chance to work with the settings on this yet. There isn't a "Home" and "End" key on the keyboard. The page up, down, home and end works to move the cursor up, down, left and right, but to use as true page up, down, home and end you press the Fn (function key) on the bottom left while pressing the appropriate Home/End etc. key on the right. I don't like the position of the power "ON" button on the upper right next to the Delete key. They could have placed this button somewhere else on the keyboard or on the side of the Zenbook like my previous ASUS laptop.

OG Mac User Says Heck Yes to the Zenbook S 16!

I'm a devoted Apple user for three decades, and this is my first Windows PC. Both my work and school rely on 365 accounts, and the cross-platform issues were constant and exhausting. I decided to set up a Windows/Android-based tech system and was extremely nervous about it, but I did my research and took the plunge with the ZenBook S 16. After two months of use, this PC continues to exceed my expectations. I love the build; for a 16-inch laptop it's remarkably thin and light, and the Ceraluminum material is virtually impervious to fingerprints and smudges. The touch-screen OLED display is stunning, and the Ryzen AI 9 365 processor is quick as lightning and able to handle some pretty heavy multitasking with ease. The battery life is insane. I'm getting upwards of 16 hours of moderate to heavy usage. I read that it has some thermal issues, so I adjusted those settings in the MyAsus app and it hasn't been an issue since. It can be a bit pricey, but it frequently can be found at a discount on sites like Best Buy. Coming from my 14-inch MacBook Pro M3 (which I've relegated to my creative apps and tasks and personal use) I can say that I enjoy using the S 16 just as much if not more. I cannot say enough about how great this laptop is!

I needed to get a laptop quick for work as my old one randomly blew up. Went to best buy and out of all the laptops i looked at this was the most premium and lightweight one out of all of them. The only one that maybe could come close was the microsoft surface but it wasnt as light as this one. Very good computer so far and i Love the OLED screen

I've forever been an Apple user but with graduate school there was a need to migrate to the Microsoft workspace. This laptop made the transition super easy! The interface is easy to use, all of its systems work exceptionally, and it's lightweight which is always a bonus. It even runs my heavy programs and heavy games better than expected. Genuinely no issue, I recommend it to anyone looking to make the switch.

While there is no other 16 inch ultraportable with this kind of build and portability, it gets hot very quick. It is the trade off for having a well built 16 inch machine with extreme portability - it is as light as a 14 inch. I do wish its a bit thicker so they stuff an even bigger battery and bigger vapor chamber.

The Asus Zenbook S16: A Powerful and Versatile Laptop with AMD Ryzen AI 365 and Radeon 880M IGPU ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5) I recently had the pleasure of receiving the new Asus Zenbook S16, and I must say, it is an impressive piece of technology. Powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 365 processor and Radeon 880M integrated graphics, this laptop offers incredible performance for both productivity and gaming. Firstly, the AMD Ryzen AI 365 processor is a true powerhouse. With its 12 cores and 24 threads, this chip can handle even the most demanding tasks with ease. Whether you're working on complex spreadsheets, editing high-resolution videos, or running multiple virtual machines, the Zenbook S16 won't let you down. The Radeon 880M IGPU is another standout feature of this laptop. Asus claims that it's 15% faster than the previous generation Radeon 780M, and after using the Zenbook S16 for a while, I can confirm that it delivers on that promise. I was able to play popular AAA games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 with smooth frame rates and decent graphics settings. In addition to the powerful hardware, the Asus Zenbook S16 also boasts a stunning 16-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2880 x 1800 and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The colors are vibrant, and the contrast is excellent, making it perfect for both work and entertainment. The touchpad is also quite spacious and responsive, which is a nice touch. In terms of battery life, the Zenbook S16 performed reasonably well. With moderate usage, I was able to get around 7-8 hours of use on a single charge. However, if you're planning on doing some serious gaming or video editing, you'll want to keep the charger nearby. Overall, the Asus Zenbook S16 with the AMD Ryzen AI 365 and Radeon 880M IGPU is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a powerful and versatile laptop. With its impressive performance, gorgeous display, and thoughtful design, the Zenbook S16 is sure to impress. Highly recommended!

Great for portability, and even decent for portable gaming, lasting around 4 hours on silent. I can actually leave the wall plug without worry for the first time on a x86 laptop. It'll last around 10 hours with high brightness use. Amazing screen as well.

Overall right now how the laptop is alright. I want to say it's great since I saw reviews and there were a lot of good things to say about it, but after returning it 3x I can't say that. Cons: I replaced this laptop 3x times since each one has had some kind of issue with it. Replacement #1 - After getting it all setup I immediately noticed that when I would watch videos the screen would randomly go black for about a second and then back to normal. There was also one point where it was downloading an update and after it got a blue screen. I knew a brand new $1,400 laptop should not be having these kind of issues on day 1 so I returned it. Replacement #2 - After setting up this one I didn’t have the screen issues from before, but for some reason, the right fan was really loud. It would be running up a lot faster than the left one and had a really annoying whirring sound. It sounded as if there was a screw loose inside and so was moving on its own. I tried opening it to see if I could fix it, but 2 of the screws on the backplate were on there really tight. I got frustrated that again this $1,400 laptop had another issue so I returned it. Replacement #3 (Current) - Now I am currently using the 3rd replacement and it's been 2 months. The fan issues seem to be fixed with this one. I haven’t gotten a blue screen. However: Screen: I got a different kind of screen issue from the 1st replacement. Now when I watch am using the laptop either on websites or videos I will get a random 1-inch black bar across my screen wherever my mouse it located. It pops up for a second, but it feels like the laptop will just shut down at any moment. Power: (Not sure if this is related to the above issue with the screen.) Sometimes the laptop just won’t turn on. It would have a charge, but when I turn it on the keyboard lights up like always, but the screen remains black. I wait a few minutes and it still doesn’t turn on. Only until I do a hard reset by holding the power button for 10 seconds and turning it on again does it turn on. This happens about 1-2x a week. Trackpad: The trackpad will just randomly stop wanting to work. I will be doing something and the trackpad will stop moving. Even the mouse disappears. Then after a minute it comes back, but becomes crazy sensitive and unusable. I have to turn off and on the laptop to fix it or wait like 5 minutes to go back to normal since sometimes I am working on I can’t turn it off or I’ll lose my info. General complaints: Keyboard - At least on the white version it's hard to see the secondary functions on the number row. As in the @, #,$, %, and those other signs when using the backlight. I have to look over on top of the keyboard to see what I’m clicking on. Heat: There will be times that the laptop will be warm and the fans will turn on. Even right now as I am writing this I am on 54% battery not plugged in, I have one window open with 12 tabs and the fans are on and the back is warm. Looking at the My Asus app I can see that the right find is always running faster than the left one. Sometimes it gets really loud where I have to try and cool the laptop down by hovering it above my desk for a few seconds. It seems like the cooling solution in this laptop isn’t very good or the chip is drawing too much power. Or both. Battery: The battery isn’t as good as I thought it’d be. It lasts me about 8 hours just browsing the internet and watching videos. I was expecting at least 10 hours. Pros: Design - I love the design with how nice it looks. I wanted to get the higher ram option but the white is only available in this lower ram config. Speed: It's been pretty fast and I expected that since I also wanted the new AMD zen 5 chips. It can handle the 5 windows and 20 tabs each I have open on it. Display: Very nice display with the colors and the touch capability. Trackpad: It would've been nice if it was a haptic trackpad, but it still feels good. It's big and centered so it doesn't hurt my wrist as much as my HP Spectre x360 that I replaced. I think the left and right slide of controlling the volume and brightness is interesting but not too helpful since there are buttons for that already. Keyboard: The keyboard feels good and responsive. Since this is the laptop that has had the least amount of issues I am keeping it since I really want to like it and I believe all the issues I am experiencing now are software-based and not hardware ( but I could be wrong on that). However, I am debating about buying from Asus again. This is my first time buying anything from them and I am more frustrated than happy with these purchases. I hope they can get better quality control in the future and can get their software in order.

      Dear JohnD,

      Thank you for your comment.

We appreciate your feedback. Information coming from valuable customers, like you, will help us improve our future product offering and services. Regarding the issue with the random black screen, this will typically occur randomly when updates are being applied to the system. About the fan noise, it is normal just like any other brand with the same hardware configuration, for the fan to spin at full-throttle and generates noise louder than normal while the laptop is under heavy load like running resource-intensive applications. This fan noise will also occur during the initial WINDOWS setup and WINDOWS Update installation. Additionally, the fan noise will be louder while antivirus software or malware are running continuously in the background. About the battery draining faster than normal, it depends on what applications, services and processes are runinng simultaneously. You can disable applications, services or processes, not being used, in the Task Manager to save battery power. Or change the Power Option inside Windows Settings into power-saving mode. To keep the laptop in optmimum stability and performance, always ensure Windows, drivers, BIOS and applications updated. I'm thoroughly impressed with this laptop. I got it after my other laptop was starting to give out and I needed better specs and a touchscreen. My last laptop was an HP 2 in 1 and it couldn't run very many things and was extremely heavy. This laptop keeps up with everything that I'm running, charges incredibly quickly, and is thin and light. I'm a STEM student and an education student, so I need to be able to take notes on my laptop, often handwritten. I was a bit nervous about how well the screen would be able to handle a pen, but it honestly is better than my old 2 in 1 laptop on that front. Because of my majors and my hobbies, I use my laptop for everything, from writing long papers, playing movies and games, running simulations, rendering, drawing, browsing, coding, etc. I haven't noticed any issue with any of this. Obviously the hinges don't flip the whole way back like my 2 in 1, which was my biggest worry when getting the laptop since I take a lot of handwritten notes and render drawings—however, the hinges are sturdy and the screen is responsive enough to where I feel I need tablet mode, so I haven't really missed having that feature. The screen is absolutely stunning. I didn't buy this laptop for the screen, but it's definitely the cherry on top. The colors are vivid, the resolution is high, and the refresh rate is delightful. The keyboard and the touchpad are excellent quality. There's no rattling or drift, and the touchpad even has a feature that allows you to adjust the volume and brightness. I have to write a ton of papers and put in a lot of equations in programs, and my past laptops have annoyed me to no end with a touchpad that rattles or keys that are slightly off center. This laptop has neither issue. I personally haven't had any issues with the heat. Even when I'm running games (which the laptop does well, obviously it can't run new games on max graphics, but I can still play new games on lower graphics which I wasn't expecting from a work laptop), the laptop gets warm, but I haven't noticed it throttle itself yet. Overall, I'm extremely happy with it. I was devastated that my last laptop broke and decided to get better specs on my next laptop to avoid that. I'm a college student. I don't want to have to drop over a thousand dollars on a laptop, but I also don't want to have to throw my laptop through the wall because it can barely run chrome and Microsoft Teams at the same time like my last laptop. Am I extremely broke now? Yes. Was it so worth it? Also yes. Coming from someone who doesn't have a lot of money to spare, the price is more than reasonable.

After using it for 2 months, I feel more comfortable to use offer some comments. 1.) The screen is the biggest and only attractive point to me. After using it for 2 months, I can tell that the pixels are small and smooth, refresh rate is smooth. the only down side is that the default color accuracy is off by a little comparing to other. If there is no comparison side to side, it is good. I'd rate it 9 out of 10. 2.) I guess it is because they want to make it so thin, I feel a little flimsy and plastic-... not not in a cheap way. It still have a decent "feel" of above average quality. The 2 minor complaints I have are 1.) The Keyboard doesn't have much "feeling" or feedback when typing. 2.) The backlit is not good enough and color contrast is not good. It is not "thoroughly" lighting the whole key. For example, for the number keys on the top roll. There are "symbol" when we press "shift". Those "symbol" can barely seen under backlit condition. If you don't turn on the backlit, the contrast is low, you will need a little more attention to find them. 3.)

This computer strikes a great balance between price, features, and performance. The processor run programs smoothly, and quietly as long as you're not doing any heavy duty gaming. Though the Radeon 880M does an impressive job of running even newer games at lower fidelity. The screen size is also great considering how light this laptop really is. This is one of the lightest 16" laptops I have ever used, and I am glad that it performs well. One of the biggest flaws of this laptop is the heat though. This laptop does get very hot. It may be the small body frame and internals, that it does not offer a great deal of ventilation, but when you there is moderate stress on the laptop, it gets real hot, and hard to use on your actual lap, so a cooler may be recommended. But if you can live with that, then I think you can be pleased with this laptop.
