I am sorry to hear that the Zenfone has not been able to read your Verizon SIM card. The Zenfone is unlocked and does work with GSM networks. In order for the SIM to be recognized though, you would have to ensure that you are using a GSM SIM card and that your carrier supports either of the following GSM bands (850, 900, 1800, 1900MHz) that the ZenFone operates on. What I would recommend is contacting your carrier to confirm your service with them and if they support the bands that the ZenFone uses.
