The Asus Zenscreen Portable Monitor is a great choice for both gaming and professional needs. Gamers will appreciate its compatibility with devices like the Steam Deck and various retro handheld consoles, offering an immersive gaming experience with its high-quality display. Professionals can also benefit from using it as a secondary monitor with their laptops, enhancing productivity. In terms of design, the monitor is both lightweight and slim, making it easy to carry around, which is perfect for those who are always on the move. The build quality is sturdy and sleek, ensuring durability without being bulky. However, there are a few drawbacks. One significant downside is the absence of a built-in battery, requiring the monitor to be powered through a single USB-C connection, which could be limiting in situations where there's no power source available. Additionally, while the monitor is a bit on the expensive side, it can be a good investment if found at a discounted price. Lastly, it may have fewer on-board features compared to other portable monitors, but this does not greatly affect its overall performance. Overall, the Asus Zenscreen Portable Monitor is highly recommended for its versatility, portability, and quality, especially if you can get it at a good price. The balance it strikes between gaming and work use, along with its portability and build quality, makes it a standout option in the portable monitor category.

Excellent Portable Second Screen for Work and Trav

I purchased this ASUS ZenScreen 15.6 inch portable monitor and it exceeded my expectations. The image quality is very good for a portable monitor, with sharp colors and wide viewing angles thanks to the IPS panel. It is extremely lightweight and easy to carry, making it ideal for studying, working, or traveling. The USB C connection works perfectly with a single cable for both power and display, which is very convenient. The foldable case is solid and works well as a stand, although it does not offer many viewing angle options. Overall, it is a well built product and highly recommended if you need a high quality portable second screen.

I work from home but always use two monitors, if not three, so working anywhere other than my home docking system was severely cutting into productivity. I picked up this monitor as an open box model and was really impressed! It connected immediately, just plug it in and hit the power button. The one small cord is easy to carry. This thing is incredibly light weight. I was shocked! Everyone asks about the monitor when I’m out at a coffee shop. I always tell them to pick it up and see how light it is! I travel for work and am happy to always have this with me. The image is crisp and bright, probably more so than my Dell laptop. The screen protector is perfect for providing some protection - though my only significant complaint is the stability of the stand. The screen protector comes off and folds into a stand, but every time I use it, it takes me a good couple of minutes to figure out how to make the screen stand up. It’s not intuitive and the directions are just images that hardly make sense. There is a video on the Asus site which was helpful and I am hoping with more time I get the muscle memory for it, but I am always fighting with it falling over. The other day I gave up and used a wooden easel though I won’t be carrying that everywhere.

At my office I use 3 27" monitors: 2 in portrait and 1 in landscape. I am working from home due to the pandemic where I a 15" notebook screen, a 27" monitor, very limited desk space due to the desk type (w/ hutch) and the desk location. I originally looked for a small (17-20") inexpensive (older tech) monitor that would fit (max height allowed 14"). There were a few but not too many to choose from. I stumbled on the class of "portable" monitors and realized there were some advantages like 1) using elsewhere in the house with my notebook, 2) lower power, 3) fewer cables, 4) compact size for the display size, etc. The disadvantage is primarily cost. When I first started shopping Best Buy had a portable monitor that was USB3 (older tech & lower resolution) and cheaper but within a day or 2 they were sold out along just about everyone else online except for the folks gouging for them. The newer tech portable monitors usually support Type C but I have another notebook at home that does not have Type C. So I ended up spending almost 3 times what I could have gotten a 19" older tech regular monitor for, but I think it was the right choice. This one came with an adapter that can be used on the USB3 system (after downloading & installing the driver). I have used it both with Type C and USB3. The type C worked immediately upon just connecting to the system, no drivers/software needed (Windows 10). At any rate, it works well, nice resolution, details, size, etc. It includes a flexible foldable stand that doubles as a cover which I'm not sure how long will last. It was the right choice.

Makes WFM much easier. Love that it is portable so that it is easy to travel with. Great resolution and pretty light to carry around. It also is compact and fits in my laptop case. The laptop automatically connected to my laptop and did not need to install any drives. Comes with a USB cable to link the monitor to the laptop.

Exactly what I was looking for! The weight is fantastic and the foldable stand/screen protector is genius. This goes into my laptop case and I barely notice it's there. Great quality for viewing the monitor outside, although I didn't look into this specifically. The stand is a little weird to figure out, but once figured out, it's such a nice design. I haven't noticed unplugged laptop power much affected, in any case I can use outside or where ever without the laptop being plugged in for a good long while. Not a touch screen but OK with that. This was cheaper on Amazon but who knows where you are getting it from there, plus I have BestBuy protection which made the extra cost worth it. The GeekSquad is always there for me, and any problems, I know there is a great warranty. Thanks Best Buy!

I purchased this ASUS ZenScreen as an Open Box item from Best Buy, and it has been an excellent value. The monitor is lightweight, ultra-thin, and fits easily into my backpack alongside my laptop, making it perfect for studying, traveling, or working remotely. The Full HD IPS display provides a clear, sharp image with good viewing angles, and the anti-glare screen makes it comfortable to use for extended periods. One of my favorite features is the included Smart Cover, which doubles as a stand. It works very well in landscape mode and provides a stable viewing experience. In portrait mode, however, the monitor seems a little more prone to tipping over, so it may require a bit more care when positioned vertically. Setup is simple with the USB-C connection, and I've successfully used it with my Windows laptop and even connected it to my iPhone to view content on a larger screen. The monitor can easily serve as a second display for productivity, whether you're a student, remote worker, or looking to expand your office setup without taking up much desk space. A few things to consider before purchasing: this monitor relies on a USB-C connection, so users without an available USB-C port may need an adapter, docking station, or dongle. I have also been unable to get it working as a second display with my Mac Mini, so Mac users may want to verify compatibility with their specific setup before purchasing. Overall, this portable monitor has worked well for me while completing my studies, and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who needs a simple second screen or a larger display for viewing content from their phone.

I need more than one screen. A new laptop late last year changed the available interfaces for additional monitors. At home I deal with this through a docking station but I found it harder to hook up borrowed external monitors available when visiting family. My son recommended a portable external monitor and after comparing options, I got this ASUS model. Looks great, virtually no setup required, stand/cover works in landscape or portrait positioning, and when I put the cover on, it fits in my laptop case right on top of the laptop, without scratching.

    Great monitor, terrible stand

I want to start off by saying that the monitor is actually really really good. It is very thin and lightweight. The picture is very crisp and clear, the brightness is terrific for normal use. It display's video content well, games also perform good. As a second monitor, this is a great add on. Just plug it into your laptop/desktop/cell phone/tablets USB-C port and it works. I tried them all and it worked. Why 3 stars? The stand is terrible. When it comes down to using the monitor, and you have issues with it standing up, or getting the right angle, this monitor sucks. I bought it while traveling to Savannah GA, and by the time I returned home, it had to go back. The stand has basically two angles, neither work for me. If you bump the table, the stand fails and the monitor falls down. Just setting it up is a task, and it is frustrating. I do not want to go into more details, but if ASUS would have put more thought into the design and just put an adjustable kickstand on it, this would be a terrific monitor, I can't give it more than 3 stars for the stupid stand.

Portable Productivity Boost with ASUS ZenScreen

I recently purchased the ASUS ZenScreen 15.6” IPS FHD USB Type-C Portable Monitor in Dark Gray, and it has proven to be a valuable addition to my work setup. Here's my 4-star review: **Pros:** 1. **Portable Convenience:** The ZenScreen's lightweight and slim design make it incredibly easy to carry. It fits neatly into the provided foldable smart case, and together, they are a portable powerhouse for on-the-go productivity. 2. **Vibrant Display:** The IPS FHD display delivers vibrant colors and sharp images. Whether I'm working on documents, editing photos, or streaming content, the visual quality is impressive. 3. **Easy Connectivity:** The USB Type-C connection is a breeze to set up. It not only provides power but also transmits both video and audio signals from my laptop or smartphone, reducing cable clutter. 4. **Smart Case as a Stand:** The included smart case doubles as a stand for the monitor. It's a thoughtful addition that allows for easy adjustment of the screen's viewing angle, making it comfortable for various tasks. 5. **Compatibility:** The ZenScreen works well with a variety of devices, including laptops, tablets, and smartphones. This versatility is a significant advantage for those who use multiple devices for work or entertainment. **Cons:** 1. **Brightness in Bright Sunlight:** While the display quality is excellent overall, it can struggle to remain visible in very bright outdoor conditions. This is a common issue with portable monitors, but it's worth noting. 2. **Price:** The ZenScreen is priced in the mid-range for portable monitors, and while it offers good value, it might be considered a bit costly for some budget-conscious buyers. In conclusion, the ASUS ZenScreen 15.6” IPS FHD USB Type-C Portable Monitor has become an essential part of my mobile workstation. Its portability, display quality, and smart case functionality make it a valuable tool for productivity and entertainment on the go. While it faces challenges in extremely bright sunlight and comes with a moderate price tag, its overall performance and convenience justify the investment for those in need of a portable secondary display.

This is actually so much better than I expected via pictures and reviews. There isn't really any reviews though for this specific model, it seems all I can find are for AC and not ACE. This review is based off the sales price I got it for when it was on sale for a day. I got it for almost 40% off, so that's what this review is reflection of. If I paid full price, I don't think my reviews would change other than adding more CON's. First thing I noticed was how clear and accurate the picture was. Now, I'm not content creater, so I don't have a particularly picky taste in color accuracy. Instead, I am a software dev that looks at a computer screen all day that prefers IPS 4K panels. This isn't 4k, but it is IPS, and with a quick picture adjustment the colors are the exact same as my monitor. This is nice because the OCD in me isn't bugging out. I also had to change scaling resolution to 100%, it defaults to like 150%. Looking at it, a 15-Inch IPS portable monitor at 100% scaling (at its native resolution and not zoomed in to make things bigger when anything more than 100% scaling), the texts are crystal clear. I also use it on my gaming desktop sometimes. My motherboard has a USB-C 10GB port on the back. It's so easy just unplugging from my MBP to Desktop and back/forth. No software needed, just plug and play. It has the included USB-A adapter, but you have to install a software to be able to use it that way based on the manual. Every device I own has USB-C, so I don't really care about it but good to know it's there. A few things about my usage and scenarios: 1. I work for home for the time being. I have a workstation Windows laptop with 2 monitors (one 4k that is personal and one 1080p from work). I use the 4k monitor (28") for my IDE and the 1080p for everything else from project resources, chat services (MS Teams, telegram), browser, etc... I found it annoying having my chat services in the 1080p monitor because in order for me to keep track of a conversation, I have to let it take up almost half the monitor (25" for the 1080p). Which covers up parts of what I also need to look at for the project. So it's just an annoying work around that I have to do. With this ZenScreen, I just move them down to it along with any other apps that I don't frequently look at (i.e. Docker, VPN, SQLdatabase, etc.). And because it's a portable monitor, I have it angled just below my 4k monitor, so it's like a spaceship console. It's accessible at a quick glance, just look down with my eyes, instead of turning my head side to side with the other monitor. 2. I don't really use it with my MBP, but it works fine. Nothing much to say here. 3. My gaming rig desktop is purely for just that, gaming. I have decent hardware on it with GPU being the priority. It powers a 144Hz Asus 25" IPS monitor. Honestly, I didn't need to use it with this, but man does it make things more convenient. If possible, I make my games windowed borderless because I like to alt-tab whenever I'm not actively playing. Also, we do a lot of group chat on telegram and discord. I figured I'd plug this in and do the same thing I did on the workstation laptop. Moved all my chats to the Zenscreen and that's it. I can actively read what's being said without having to alt-tab out to see if I missed something. Also, I started having my NZXT Cam software up for the hell of it and moved it to the Zenscreen as well. My only con, given what I paid for it, is the case. I guess this is the other difference between AC and ACE model. AC model, based on the pics, seem to include their overly complex smart cover that also acts as a stand. This ACE model includes a overly complex stand, but not the same one as AC model because this cannot act as a cover. Okay, I mean yeah it "COVERS" the screen my tacking it on, but it's not the conventional definition of a cover that we think about when referring to tablets (which I know this isn't, but form factor basically is). I would've preferred the smart cover from the AC because it acts like a case cover with stand built in, like most tablet cases you see in the market. This does the job of acting as a stand and covering your screen, but this still exposes the whole back side for scratches. Overall, even at full price this is worth it if you're needing an extra screen without taking up much space. And I mean extra screen, not another screen right? Like, I don't consider this a 3 monitor setup for work, more like 2.5. If you need a second monitor, buy an actual monitor. 1080p 15" screen doesn't have real estate for anything too meaningful. If this is for your laptop for when you're on the go, then at that point I would consider this as "another" screen. Perfect for traveling, convenient for at home use.

This portable monitor is perfect for everyday use on the move. The screen is crisp and the screen size is just right and the screen sharpness will leave you satisfied. It slim and fits perfectly in a backpack and comes with protective case that converts into an easy to use monitor stand. Exactly what I was wanting and expecting: an easily portable second monitor for my laptop that I could set up at airports and hotels. Easy to use, runs simply by pluggin the USB-C cable. The cable does kind of hangs in the air a bit akwardly when placed in the portrait (vertical) position, but for the quality and ease of use this is well worth the price for anyone who enjoys working on the go with two screens

Excellent monitor. It is thin, lightweight and has hardware buttons to turn it on/off and control brightness, which my other portable monitor from a different brand does not have. It looks fantastic on my desk and is much easier on the eyes than the other portable monitor I have, which I found myself using more and more as a paperweight due to eye strain (not 1080p, requires you to look directly at screen, has glare; no brightness control, have to unplug to turn off, etc.). This Asus monitor is very easy on the eyes (to look at physically/design-wise and actually use for long periods of time) as it has brightness control, matte screen with no glare/reflections, and the blue light filter and screen modes are easy to change with buttons or the widget. I only wish the widget/software you need to rotate the screen would work when minimized to the Windows system tray so you don't have to keep it open. Otherwise, I am very impressed and wish I bought a second one to replace my portable monitor (my current work from home setup has a 27" monitor, this 15.6 Asus MB16ACE and another 15.6" portable screen from another brand for a 3 monitor setup). Note, this model does not come with the pen to help it stand up without the cover like the other "MB16AC" version but so far I have not had any issues keeping this monitor in portrait mode on my desk.

This portable monitor served it's purpose. The resolution for travel was good. The screen traveled well. I love it. I use it every day. I bought it 2 years ago for $300 - it's still perfect. The picture quality is great, and it looks cool next to my laptop. I don't carry it around much, but it fits nicely in my bag with my laptop. The 'foldable smart case' doubles as the stand - it works, but it's not adjustable or very sturdy. I bought a separate tablet stand for $10 to leave on my desk. Set-up is easy - there is just one cord between the monitor and laptop - no power cord needed.
