Zero Security - Horrible Support - Not for IT folk
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router is great if you want to plug it in and never look at the inbound connections to your internal network. But if you do, you will see a total lack of any firewall. I came from synology to try out the asus xt8 mesh routers. I have had port forwarding set-up for nearly five years on my synology without issue for my cameras and remote desktop. Within an hour of plugging in my Asus, enabling the firewall which is a simple on or off toggle, and enabling ddos protection and all the fancy trend micro protection, I found 16,800 rdp attacks against my primary pc an hour from the Russian space federation cidr range. My first instinct is to block the IP. I found there is zero way to block an IP via Asuswrt. I asked no less than sixteen Asus support people who responded to my ticket how to block an inbound IPv4 IP. They were all clueless. you simply can't. they have the ability to block up to 32 IPv6 addresses but they have zero ways to block any IPv4 addresses. again if you find an IP attacking your home network there is absolutely no way to block that IP in the router's config. I asked what their firewall does and they could not give me any meaningful response. From what I have gathered it is an unintelligent toggle that simply enables denying all inbound ports. The second you set up any port forwarding, their firewall and DDoS protection do nothing and trend micro ignores the packets. this is a huge security flaw. their firewall should have been able to detect 4.5 logins per second attacking my system but it did not. so I plugged my Synology back in front of the Asus router and instantly it's intrusion protection discovered any and all issues and secured my network once again. what's worse is I opened up a support case and went back and forth for months with level 1 agents asking for the same logs over and over again. every single time a different person responded to the ticket saying they would escalate it. once a week a new person called me asking for the same information again and again. after 2 months I simply gave up because their people have no idea what they're doing and their support system might as well be non-existent because it's incredibly flawed. so if you want a router that has absolutely zero security definitely get this router. It has no firewall you can configure and the trend micro packet inspection does absolutely nothing. My Synology setup has blocked over 2000 inbound malicious attempts while the asus has detected only two outbound malicious URL attempts. oh and as an extra added bonus if you put the routers more than 15 ft apart they randomly go to 2.4 gigahertz backhaul. when you move them close together they don't self rectify you have to reboot both units. I opened up a support case for this showing that the backhaul showed a strong 5G connection and it was still choosing 2.4 GHz and the only thing they came up with was to ask me to move them closer. they were sitting on a desk next to each other for the test. if I move them any closer they would have been inside each other. again their support is horribly lacking and their firmware is buggy and their security protocols are non-existent.

DON'T BUY if you want to pair with SONOS wireless
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had high hopes but was disappointed with this product. After many hours of labor, I couldn't connect my SONOS speaker system using a strictly wireless set-up. I was able to have it work when I wired one of the SONOS speakers to the ZenWiFi but because I placed the main router in a location that doesn't require a speaker, I returned the ZenWiFi. Instead of going with Tri-Band, I decided to pair an ASUS RT-AX88U with an ASUS RT-AX86U in an AiMesh setup that has been working really well for me.

Great WiFi 6 upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great WiFi 6 setup. I was hesitant on the reach with only two hubs, but it easily covers my 2,400 sq ft ranch style house. So many features are available and the app and desktop interface are both well made and very user friendly.

XT8 AX wifi 6 router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needs to be updated out of the box. Aside the software updated I would recommend using the ethernet backbone to experience the router kit full potential. AIMESH with 5ghz backbone is so so, milage may vary.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using the ASUS Zen AX Tri-Band mesh WiFi for about three weeks. My old Asus R66U is performs better
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Replaced my Asus R66U with this ZenWiFi AX router. I get 200 mbps slower directly hardwired into the main router. Online games are now unplayable, whereas they worked perfectly before switching. QoS wants me to share all of my information with Trend Micro. You would need to pay me to do that. I loved my Asus R66U, it just didn't have enough range. I will be returning this for another brand.

Don’t upgrade and just risk security issues
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It was good until I accepted the firmware upgrade Asus software pushes. Now I have bricked hardware the day after I bought it, trying to figure out what I’m going to do. Tech support just running me in circles. What to buy to replace it? Probably not Asus.

Unreliable router.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it on August 13. On Sept 21th, the 2.4ghz band stopped working. Manufacture reset did not fix. I cant return anymore. I am using many Asus products. IMO, I love Asus because of its performance. However, it has no reliability. Now, I have to send it back to Asus to get it fix. Stay away from Asus.

Posted .Dear Valued Customer,
It's regrettable to hear you've encountered issues with the 2.4Ghz frequency band. This must be frustrating, is it that your devices is unable to connect or it doesn't broadcast this band?
Are you able to connect perfectly on the 5Ghz band?

Good product only last 8 months
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The firmware update completely changed my experience with this router. I purchased this router back in December 2020, it was great 8 months of experience. But after I updated the firmware to Version 3.0.0.4.386.43181, 2.4 GHz can not be connected, 5.0 GHz has dead zones around the house which did not exist before. The only place that 5.0 GHz is stable after the update is literally right next to the router. I've contacted Asus customer support, the representative said he will escalate the case, after that, I got one phone call from their customer support headquarters, after that, an email with links not related with my issue and template was not even deleted. I tried to love this product but honestly, Asus's technical team and customer support suck.
