    We returned these - after hours of review we thought these would be the way to go, but after upgrading the firmware as directed we had several devices that couldn't reconnect to the wifi no matter what troubleshooting we did. The system would periodically disconnect and reconnect. We ended up purchasing a completely different brand.

    UNRELIABLE BUT GREAT FEATURE SET

    ASUS ROUTER ZENWIFI AX WIRELESS. Model:90IG0590-MA1G4V Background: I upgraded from an older ASUS router RT-AC3200 because that router was dropping my devices randomly. This gets old fast with Apple TV, Alexa devices, and everything else. The total number of clients on that router was under 40. ASUS has a great product in terms of feature set, but lacks sorely with reliability. Well doing a clean install with this router and upgrading to the latest firmware (3.0.0.4.386_45934) this new mesh router is behaving the same with all of the clients on my wifi. I'm sharing that the issue still exists. When the house security system notifies me of disconnected wifi and the Alexa units are offline that's a problem with a mesh system that's not exactly cheap in the consumer market. Calling ASUS support, all they could offer was to return the router or send it in for repair. ASUS did not offer any support of checking a setting or two. IMO, support doesn't exist for the product. Unfortunately, I'm leaving ASUS wireless routers.

    Went through many routers before I got this one. Great and modular. Much more reliable than the orbit with cool security features for free

    Lots of reasons to not buy. I was seduced by The NY Times Wirecutter recommendation, but have been disappointed from day one. Yesterday we bought a Google WiFi system and are dumping the Asus product. (And so far, everything good with the google wifi). Our reasons are: Asus does not support Sonos music. Their support doesn't even seem to know what it is. The support is embarrassingly bad. They have very untrained and English challenged level one type support in the Philippines. Its a struggle to get to level 2, and everything is driven by filling out forms and email. The quickly recommend to make all the devices 2.4ghz, so their dynamic algorithm obviously has it flaws. Frequently my iPhone internet stalls and you have to turn wifi on and off. I understand they are powerful, but you know what, if you just need your music, tv and internet, save yourself the headache.

    Seamless transition and great range. I have a 2000 sq ft house and a detached garage on 3/4 of an acre. There's nowhere I don't have great signal.

    BUYER BEWARE! NO STABLE 5GHZ BACKHAUL CONNECTION!

    BUYER BEWARE! AS A MESH NETWORKING SYSTEM IT FAILS DUE TO THE NODE NOT MAINTAINING A STABLE 5GHZ BACKHAUL CONNECTION! I have owned this product as of January 2021, and it worked perfect for the first month. Recently the mesh node has stopped detecting the 2nd 5 GHZ backhaul spectrum from the primary router, and only connects to the 2.4 GHZ spectrum. My placement of the node has not changed from when it was working great earlier in ownership. I have restarted it, and deleted it multiple times to reset up the network. This seems to work temporarily, but does not last as it reverts to the same issue. Currently trying to get support from Asus but it has been a challenge. I am so disappointed, as all previous Asus products I have owned worked flawlessly.

      I'm truly sorry to hear that the mesh node stopped detecting the 5GHZ backhaul spectrum. This is absolutely not the kind of experience we want any of our customers to have. If you have already set up 3 different Wi-Fi names for each band, the dedicated backhaul will not automatically establish. In order to do so, you'll need to enable Smart Connect.     Went thru 2 in one month!

    Bought 2 in one month. First one worked perfect for about 2 weeks then somehow it fried itself and sent electricity over the Ethernet to my pc. Had a electrician confirm the outlets were problems grounded. The second one I had for 4 days and it didn’t work properly at all. Internet speeds weren’t consistent, I verified the speeds were good from the modem upload speed would constantly be under 1 and my Max download speeds would be under 300, both with snd without Ethernet. My max speeds are 1000mbs/40mbs
