    Unlike some people we still have our regular home phones. I've purchased many different cordless phones, some because lightening came in on them, and some for other reasons, so far I really like these. I already had an AT&T corded phone in the kitchen with an answering machine, so I haven't used the answering machine on this set, but I do like that it tells you whose calling.
