Got if for 30 bucks. Love the Windows OS, its really smooth and has most of the apps we use daily. The camera is pretty decent too. There's nothing else to say. If you are bored of android/ios, this one's a definite go getter!!

Lumia phone 640 is a winner. It's a bargain for the price you pay. It amazes me to see how little memory is needed to run windows phone operating system. Windows app store has plenty of apps to do real work (not gaming) for me.

Phone is really nice and acceptable performance. Out of the box Windows 8 is stable and can do all basic operations. Call quality is good. Memory expansion slot is very useful. One fact is you won't find all the required apps on windows. Updated to Windows 10 and performance is good but not stable as 8. Best buy for the money.

Great phone for the price! Windows phones are underrated. No wifi or data connection required for GPS, which I use quite often Of course there are not many apps available, but that is the only complaint.

Except for the all plastic case, this phone has the feel of a much more expensive device. Great, large display, Windows OS is smooth as butter. Good camera. You would think you have spent 4-5 times more than you have.

But tell me where that DOESN'T apply in life! Let's get the bad out of the way first. Unless you use the battery saver the battery life is kinda not what I had hoped. The menu is very Windows 8.x thru 10.x which shouldn't surprise anyone. Several tiles are helpful, some are useless, and some are ads. Eh. No biggie. Just decipher a way to rearrange and you're all dandy 'n' stuff. You can also remove ad tiles if you want. Connecting to open networks that require you to accept their terms is sometimes a bit challenging. I wind up just shutting off WiFi for a second or two, restart it, then connect without issue. By far my BIGGEST complaint is the lack of software. I use a pedometer extensively. When I fired the Lumia up I immediately did a search for "Windows Phone Free Pedometer." Guess what came up. Well, the 'free-est' free pedometer was $14.95. I was neither pleased nor amused. On to other things. The good things. The phone to which I am doing the following comparisons is a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Lumia's camera is better and easier to use. Accessing photos and editing is easier. Browsing the web (once you get by the occasional connection annoyance) is quick and easy. I use my smart phone as a jukebox while driving too and from work as well as at my desk if clients aren't around. The sound is infinitely better than any smart phone I remember hearing. The player, however, is far from intuitive and I really don't like it, but I'm afraid to go looking for another 'free' microsoft app. I guess that's it. I'm still learning the phone, but I do like it quite a bit. Throw my purchase price into the mix and I like it a whole lot! Ah - last item that upped my opinion of the Lumia a bit more. I currently have 64GB worth of music on the Lumia courtesy of the 64GB SD card I have installed. As The Cars once said; "...just what I needed!"

very economic phone.decent screen size.even runs the insider review windows 10 without glitches. Cortana is pretty good but I rarely use her. Speak to search works very well. Touch sensitivity of qwerty is not the best and can be annoying.... Missing the camera button like in other Lumia phones makes it a tad bit challenging to use camera in a hurry

My first generation Nokia Lumia 900 stopped receiving emails one day recently so I needed a phone fast. I am a die hard Windows person and did not want to spend a lot of money on a phone. I found the perfect solution thanks to a helpful sales associate at Best Buy. At&t GoPhone - Microsoft Lumia 640 4G LTE was a perfect solution. Swapped out the sim card from the old phone and back in business in minutes. This phone is real solid, performs well, has everything I need in terms of features and was a great deal! I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to do the same.

    Great AT&T Backup Phone

Inexpensive backup or beater phone for AT&T/GoPhone. If you plan to use it with your post-paid account, I would suggest inserting the SIM card before you activate it, although it should be able to work for both types of plans. Being a Windows Phone, it will not feel as familiar as the Android/iOS devices that most people use, but all of the key functionality is certainly there. Also, being a Microsoft device, it integrates quite well with the Xbox One (with SmartGlass this can be used as a full function remote/second display for your console). The screen is very nice for a phone in the $30 price range, and the processor seems to keep things moving along quickly enough. WiFi does not support 5GHz bands, only the crowded 2.4GHz spectrum, but it seems fine for the things you would be doing on your phone anyway. While the camera is certainly better than the one on my old iPhone 4, it is still not as impressive as those you find on flagship Apple/Samsung devices (which, of course, easily cost 10 to 20 times as much!). In sum, for the price you can't go wrong. I activated an older Lumia phone for a month the last time my dad was visiting, so that he would be able to stay in touch while in the US. I will likely be doing the same with this one next time he's in town.

I purchased this one as a replacement for my Nokia 635. It has a bigger screen, front and back camera. Everything is so good and I have nothing to complain. With that price. It's a winner.

I'm a techie guy. I work in the IT/Support field and I wanted to learn about Windows Phone OS, so I purchased this device since its upgradable to Windows 10. I already have an Apple iPhone 6s Plus - my daily driver, a ZTE ZMaxx2 running Android 5.01, and now this phone. People knock Windows for the low amount of quality apps but for the apps I use - Engadget, Facebook, Netflix, and other tech blog sites, I feel it handles them every bit as good as the other devices. Its a shame more apps aren't available for Windows Phone OS, but with Windows 10 I hope more apps will be available. 4 stars for camera quality, but what do you expect for 50 dollars - it still takes decent pics, just not as good as the iPhone 6s Plus?

On my computer, I have hated Windows 8.1. On my cell phone, I love it, and see it's main designed purpose. This phone performs, in my opinion, in a class with the best. The camera may not be as good as an I-phone, but it is definitely good. The Windows format is user friendly, believe it or not. I think it has a prettier interface and more flexibility than Android. You can rearrange or resize the "tiles" with just a prolonged touch. The speaker is good; I've yet to find ANY cell phone that has the clarity of a landline phone. I love the alarm clock, and the ring tone/ alarm choices. The main purpose, to make and receive calls, is excellent. This is lighter in weight than most other phones its size. The battery can keep going for days without needing to be recharged. In contrast, my friends with I-phone are always looking for an outlet to plug into! This phone also has genuine Gorilla glass from Corning; it resists cracking even when dropped onto ceramic tile floors. Has most (but not all) of the apps that I-phone or Android phones have, including Waze, flashlight, Pandora, etc. The real benefit: for what I paid on sale at Best Buy ($40), I don't have to get upset if I lose it or it is stolen.

My family has enjoyed Windows phones for almost 3 years. Our Lumia 920s had cracked screens so we decided to buy new phones rather than repair them. By transferring the SIM cards from our 920s, they were instantly added to our account. This is a good phone. It has a good sized screen (larger than the 920) with good resolution. I like its removable battery. With a micro SD card it has ample memory (I installed 64G). The one memory drawback is with maps. Microsoft designed the phone so that maps could only be on the phone's limited 8G of internal memory. This is not enough to load all of the maps I would like, but more than enough for the four states in which I regularly drive. Fortunately, it is easy to add additional states as I need them. When using Here Drive+, you can get directions to any location, but you do not have an offline alternative without installed maps. The pictures it takes in daylight or good inside lighting are at least as good as the ones I took on my 920. The low light pictures are acceptable, but not as good as on my 920. I missed the Qi wireless charging built into my 920 so I bought a wireless charging coil for the phone. It works well and is only slightly annoying to have to unplug it when I need to attach a USB cable. This phone counts my steps and provides me with basic information without needing a Fitbit or other device. With this being a budget-priced phone, we bought 2 extras as an alternative to insurance (the price of a phone is less than the cost to replace a screen). If we break a phone, we only need to change the SIM card to one of the new ones.

At first I wasn't sure the phone would be right for us, but after having used it, we enjoy it a lot. It's cheap, runs Windows Phone 8.1 (and Windows Mobile 10) smoothly for a cheap phone. Much smoother and better than the equivalent low cost Android phones. There are a few apps missing, though lately it seems things are picking up. Hopefully we'll see more support with this new Universal framework. My phone syncs easily with my computer and tablet. We now have 4 of these in our family, purchased one at a time, as each member of our family decided it was what they wanted. 1 of which is running Windows 10 preview, extremely well.

My year and a half old Lumia 540 was on it's last leg, so I decided it was time to upgrade. This phone is everything I need and more - The battery lasts 3-4 days with light usage, the front camera allows me to Skype from my phone, and the pedometer function is fantastic. I have never been attached to a phone (previously had various non-smart phones, iPhone 3G, and Lumia 540), but this one may wreck my detached attitude.
