This is a great phone. Screen is big with decent resolution. Camera is one of the better ones out there. It has NFC. For this price its an excellent phone. But the shame is windows is not putting efforts to attract app developers. It seems windows is moving away from phone once again. Its overall its a great phone.

This is an excellent phone beyond any reason. At any price - let alone $29.99. The call quality is excellent - way better than my landline. It has a great rear camera and a decent front facing camera. The screen is nice and just the right size for typing on. The word flow keyboard works great and makes texting and composing emails easy. The OS is very smooth and fast. I like mail and Calendar the best.No other IOS or Android devices not even come closer to 50 %.Only downside is that windows phone lacks few apps. But calling, emailing, texting, social media stuff (if that is your thing), picture taking and video works very well. I love that when I take a picture windows automatically resizes it so it is easy to send by email. I can take 10 pictures, attach them to an email and send it in just seconds. This is a truly great phone and probably one of the best deals for any electronic device ever.

Does it job very well compared to the low price point. It is not a bad phone at all. All my business functions works well in this phone especially the Windows suite of apps. Drawback is that no popular app versions available in Windows Phone. This will get resolved when Windows 10 mobile. This phone is compatible for Windows 10 mobile. Its been couple of week now. I used non AT&T sim card and it worked well after unlock. No complaints at all. Good buy!

Confessions of a basic phone user

Gota join the others to recommend this phone. I'm one of the few that just use my phone for infrequent calls and texts, just need to be available to the family. Consequently, before this phone I used a basic, no data plan, no feature phone. Since I don't use the phone for much I demand a low cost phone and long battery life. I just replaced my wife's Samsung Galaxy s6 (lost after 4 months ..ouch!) with an iPhone 6. After shelling out $1300 over a few months for 2 phones, the $30 I paid for a Lumia 640 didn't even register. My previous phone would last 4 maybe 5 days before a charge. This phone, with wifi and data turned off of course, lasts me for a week. I now have access to all the smart phone stuff in the unlikely event I want to use it AND better battery life. Never would have believed it if I wasn't livin it. My only regret is that I didn't get one of these sooner.

This is a great phone with excellent call quality and sound. It also has a nice screen, a very good rear and front camera and a fast and smooth user interface. Battery lasts all day easily. I've tried a few of the android phones BB has and this phone is WAY better. It doesn't have as many apps as Android or Apple, but it has the basics and what it does have works very well. This is the very best deal you can get for any electronic device anywhere in my opinion.

For the price, I doubt you could find a phone this good. The display and camera are pretty good, and performance is generally decent, too. I unlocked mine through an eBay service for $6, and now am running it on T-Mobile with great results (Band 12 appears to work). I also have Windows 10 Mobile on it, and it runs pretty well. I'm happy with it for now, as I save up for a 950. I don't know what it says about me, but I also have an LG G4, yet I prefer this lowly 640 instead. I hope W10M succeeds. We need consumer choice!

Paid $30, usual price is $60, but this is a good phone for either price. Full Windows 8.1 functionality. Apps for most things or just access them through browser. Photos are great. Wi-Fi range is better than my Samsung Galaxy Note. Great sound quality on calls. Have no problem understanding or being understood with this phone. Used this as a "bring your own phone" for ATT contracted service. They switch it for free.

Naturally you would think a 60 dollar phone is garbage right? That you would expect with a budget Android phone. Well. I can tell you this phone isn't garbage at all it looks and feels and acts like a mid range phone. That because it is and runs smooth. And you know everything looks great on screen. I always enjoy using my Lumia 640 itsa fun device made by Microsoft and it's a stunning device. Thanks Microsoft for making a great phone. :) .btw. Windows mobile 10 runs nice on this phone.

First ( nobody puts this on the reviews) YES, YOU CAN USE THIS PHONE WITH YOUR EXISTING AT&T PLAN. JUST TAKE THE SIM CARD FROM YOUR OLD AT&T PHONE AND INSERT IT INTO THE LUMIA PHONE AND YOU ARE BACK IN BUSINESS. I decided to give the windows phone a chance since my Galaxy s4 died. Im glad I chose the windows phone over the android options. This phone has a very good quality, nothing fancy considering the price but in technical specs it is as good as my old S4 except for the camera resolution. In term on the Windows phone OS , I never been a fan of Windows since im a Linux administrator. But I must say that for my personal and work needs Windows phone 8.1 is solid, easy to use and all the apps I need for my everyday use. ( if you are into gaming or wasting time with the phone, this is not for you). But still has most of the standard apps. I highly recommend this phone for the price. I still can believe people pay 600 bucks for a phone when for 30 you can get a good quality phone solid and reliable. No cons yet.

The quad core cpu makes this phone very fast and fun to use, and the Windows 8.1 mobile o/s is terrific. Great screen resolution, great sound [has an FM radio]. Same size as a Galaxy S5, long battery life, and I could go on.

Looking for Apple quality with Android customization at an ultra affordable price, then this Lumia 640 is your Must Have device. Buy it for yourself and start enjoying everything that this Smartphone delivers. Windows 10 Mobile (preview) elevates the Lumia 640 far above many other phones costing 4x or 5x more than this phone. Reward yourself now by upgrading to a quality end user experience that is a standard feature of Microsoft Lumia 640, you will be glad you did.

I know a lot of people hate on Microsoft phones because of lack of apps, but this phone is rugged, has all the apps I want (though Microsoft and Google hate each other apparently). The battery life is so much better than my old Galaxy as well as the responsiveness. No more dead battery by noon and no more waiting and waiting just to make a phone call! Got this one for my daughter and have the XL for myself. Getting another one for my son today!

For $29??? Almost an offer you can't refuse

I am one phone obsessed individual on s budget so my wife won't complain. I have 2 androids, 3 lumias, a Nokia e61 Symbian device, an old Palm device and even an old Windows 6.1 device (I probably should do some house cleaning). I saw the phone at $29, read the reviews and decided to roll the dice. Phone arrived in 5 days. I am on T-mobile meaning the phone had to be unlocked. So I went to the AT&T site, filled out the non customer form and 48 hours later the code arrived. After unlocking I downloaded the Windows insider program, signed up for the fast ring and got my first Windows 10 download, which I immediately installed. Windows 10 is a really good operating service and it runs fine on light hardware. This is because much like iOS it suspends the background processes, allowing the application in play most of the CPU's attention. The processor is very adequate for what it's running so there is very little drag. The screen is 720p and that 's better than any android you'll find under $200(retail price). So no complaint there. Also the speed of the device, I was in an upscale area and getting full bars LTE and measured 84Mb download speed. For a $30 phone?? Of course the main drag on the experience remains the dearth of applications but MS is still tweaking the built in apps. the latest Maps update gives great guidance and the very good GPS hardware is almost on a par with my old Nexus 4. What is surprising is that in spite of what you read about Windows Phone being dead, Microsoft seems to keep improving it. Every 2 weeks or so there a new Fast Ring updates which further improve the experience. You got to figure that Google had a big head start but Microsoft has been really picking up the slack. I think it will reach parity in a year or less. When you figure in the excellent call quality and the Nokia hardware and build. . It's almost an offer you can't refuse.

The phone is worth every penny for a windows phone. I bought 2 phones for my sisters and they love the phone. Big screen, reliable performance, good battery backup (normal use give more than a day backup).

Have owned every Nokia from the N9 to the Lumia 710, the 900, the 920, the 925 and the T-Mobile 640. This phone had the best combination of voice quality, reception, speakerphone and texting. The screen isn't as nice as the above phones, the sensitivity is a bit off, and there's no camera button, but there's upgradable storage via a Micro-SD card and a price that is literally hundreds of dollars cheaper than the other phones. This won't break the bank and it won't break your heart if it gets broken or lost. Recommended! Great service via AT&T (PureTalk) and AT&T unlocked the phone in 36 hours with no problems.

    It's a Windows Phone

Microsoft upset its entire Desktop community by forcing a trivial (3%) phone interface upon us and it cost them billions in sales and two senior executives their jobs. However Windows 8.1 works well enough on the phone and Microsoft is basically giving these things away. The IE explorer browser is a dog, there isn't a good file manager and you cannot install the world's most popular media player Kodi. Having said that the camera is good and the handling of SD cards puts Google to shame. It asks if you want to put all new downloads, music, pictures and video on the card and creates appropriate directories; just what users want not the mess that Google has inflicted upon us. It works well as a phone but don't count Microsoft staying in the business; it is bleeding money and hasn't managed to get it's Windows 10 preview into a stable condition two weeks before its planned release. Buy phone at give away price but don't expect long term support. Best I am hoping for is Microsoft to port its new browser to Windows 8.1 phones before giving up.

This is by far the best phone I've owned. It's fast, everything is at your fingertips, Cortana works fantastic, and the price is unbelievable. I use an LG Bluetooth headset that hangs over my neck, so hands-free while working around the house, in the yard or driving is a cinch. Love it love it!

I personally like the Windows OS. In particular, I can share files from my pc by virtue of One Drive. For instance, for ebay-ing, I can take a picture of an item, and get it on my computer without having to send it to my pc via email or a wire. Cortana is neat. The camera takes good pictures. What I don't like is that the off button doesn't hang up the phone like an android, and the screen is completely unreadable in the daylight.
