Customers value the VCS 800 All-in Bundle's RAM upgradeability and flexibility, frequently citing its ability to expand storage and function as a mini PC. However, many find the price point to be high and express concerns about the limited game library and occasional performance issues. Some users also note the system's fan noise.

The Atari VCS800 is an awesome system and is very flexable. The ability to increase ram and install an M.2 is great. I have one setup with Windows 10 to play my steam games on it. The other is dedicated to playing the Recharged Series and ither great games from their eShop.

This console is more of a mini PC then anything. A great piece of nostalgia if you want to relive the Atari glory days, or just run it in PC mode and play around. It was a deal of the day for $200. Thats about the right price point imo.

Despite not selling well, it's library of games are great and affordable. Flexibility is also a big plus as this console also can double as a PC. Controllers are super sleek, especially the joystick. And online play doesn't require a subscription!

This is a great micro console/PC. Atari themselves have said this is not a competitor to the likes of Xbox or playstation. Anyone comparing it to them just don’t understand the intent. The VCS is a micro computer with a “console” style OS as default. I can play stadia and other steaming gaming services like antstream and AirConsole. Yes some you can play on mobile or pc but now I can do it on my tv instead of mobile with crappy controls or hooking up a pc to my tv. It has a game store that has a decent start to games that fit perfectly with this system. Chrome is the default browser so all google apps work natively. If you want, side load windows or another os to give you the full pc experience. They are supposedly going to announce several new games soon and a few I know of coming down the pipeline look fantastic. As long as they keep the games coming I’m a happy camper.

Other than being covered in tape and stickers it arrived safely and works great. Gonna put Linux or windows on it and play some games on it.

Modern version of a classic console ~ Atari Geek

I don't know why there are so many Atari haters? For the most part, the early reviews haven't been kind to this new console. For me, I grew up playing the Atari 2600 so there is a lot to like in this modern version.
I was an early adopter of the Wii U. I understood what Nintendo was trying to do but the execution wasn't very good. It didn't surprise me when Nintendo abandoned the Wii U for the Switch. (there's a point to this) Unlike the Wii U, the Atari doubles a PC. So even if it fails as the critics suggest, you still have a PC for your investment. As for the Wii U? It's boxed up in my basement and has been there ever since the Switch arrived.
I'm hopeful Atari invests in more software. After all, they own some of the best retro games on the market. Creating several modern versions of those classic games and releasing them as exclusives for the Atari VCS would be a great opportunity to grow the community. Because, after all, that's the reason I purchased my console. I desperately want to see this console succeed. But if it doesn't, I still have an incredible looking PC out of the deal. Unlike the Wii U, this will remain displayed on my entertainment center for years to come. I love the fact Atari kept a retro look to the console.

With the Atari VCS, it's honestly not for everyone. It's really targeting a specific audience, the Hybrid PC/Console niche market. Atari has improved with each release of new games/apps on the store. I'm excited to try out Kombinera, Atari's first published game in years. The controllers are good, what you'd expect from PowerA. The console itself is aesthetically amazing. The only small issue I've noticed is the sometimes loud fan. Other than that, I'm glad Atari is back in some form. Definitely will continue to support them and their shift back into the gaming industry.

This is a pretty good little machine if you know what you are doing. It's certainly more powerful than a Raspberry Pi and can run actual Windows. It is overpriced.

Very happy with this purchase. The system is so flexible, from classic gaming and cool controllers to including all of the major game streaming services. I am playing Xbox Online, Google Stadia, Amazon Luna, Ant-stream and more. Not to mention supporting some great indi developers.

Awesome system. I thought it was just a remake of the old atari but its anything but. It comes with Linux but advertises that it can run any other operating system (OS). It has expandable memory and a space for a solid state drive (SSD), so there is plenty of opportunity to keep your system up to date with upgrades!!!

If you are looking for something flashy and high tech. This is not the system for you. It is basic as it comes. I love how nostalgic and basic it is! It really only serves one purpose... to play arcade style of games!! If you love these classic games I say go for it.

So it was made to when you get a system update, you have to upgrade the RAM from 8gb to at least 16 GB ddr4 RAM and than it's good to go. You get to see the art on the mobo. Good enough for a gaming PC with Nintendo going multiplatform and x box leaving the arena.

When there was rumors of the Atari VCS being made I tried to reserve one than COVID hit. So when they finally made it into stock at Best buy I placed a order took a week to arrive at the store for pickup. I am glad with the purchase I love playing the older games of my childhood but this also makes a good machine to use Google stadia on.

Being able to plat both games for the VCS, Steam app games I own and dual boot it in Windows for work is pretty awesome feature. The classic atari joystick is cool in that the orange that was around the original now lights up on this one recognizing(lights up) the direction you have moved it. The classic joystick also has a twist mechanism built into it allowing you to play games like Pong and Breakout with a “paddle” like feel of them without the need of another type of controller.
The app to control it for watching vids and stuff works pretty well also.

I never really had any interest in this console, but it was on sale for a decent price so I figured it couldn't hurt to have something to mess around with. I was excited to install windows or I ubuntu on this and use it through the PC mode as advertised. It's easy enough to install on an external drive, but that doesn't feel official enough for me, and the internal storage is really limited. I happened to have a spare SSD so I installed that in the internal NVMe slot and began the process of installing Ubuntu. Ubuntu wouldn't detect the SSD no matter how many workarounds I tried, so I moved onto windows just to have the same problem.
This has already become a significant time sink at this point, but I spent the money on the console, so I figured I'd better do SOMETHING with it. I found some guides online that recommended a USB caddy for the SSD, and installing the OS there, then transferring it to the console. I ordered a caddy, and when it finally arrived, I began the process of installing the OS. Unfortunately, Rufus froze while installing windows, and killed my SSD.
That leaves me with the stock Atari OS... And I've decided to just return the console. Games are extremely overpriced and the interface belongs in the early 2000s. This is not a console I'd feel cool showing off the friends and family, and I can't even get the satisfaction of tinkering with it because it's just so poorly designed. It also doesn't help that the controllers are cheaply made and barely work half the time. It's a shame. The console was a great concept and it looks beautiful, but the execution was poor.

Fun console for bringing back childhood memories, but a bit overpriced. It comes with 2 controllers (one in each style), but some games are only compatible with one style. Wish it offered more for the price.

It was a pretty disappointing console to be honest. I ended up wiping the hard drive and installing Batocera Linux to turn it into an emulation device. In that regard it works great, but you could do the same with a raspberry pi for far less money.
