Kids occasionally go out the front door & forget to lock it. Now we can check the front door & lock it from anywhere. We love this device!

Works great! Only down side is you have to have to bridge to lock or unlock it remotely. Other than that I highly recommend

Like it but there are many times I walk up to the door and it is still locked, then I have to open the app and unlock it manually. Hopefully the tech catches up soon, but it is still more convenient than fumbling with keys.

Was initially concerned of the not so good reviews but gave it a try, so far it works as advertised; might be a 1st gen issue?

We have some issues but may be operator error. We plan to contact August to solve the issue. Mostly we are really happy with it.

The lock is great. With the connect option it's even better. My door does not close unless I push on it but not the locks fault

Installation was a breeze. However, the installation video and documentation are off when it comes to removing the cover. One is for the 1st generation and the other is for the 2nd generation. For 2nd generation, you need to push on the August logo so the top of the cover will tilt forward. You do not turn the cover counter-clockwise. I returned the lock after 5 days. Our household has iPhones and Android phones. The Auto Unlock feature worked 40% of the time for the iPhone 7 Plus, and 10% of the time for an Galaxy S8. Paying $185 for a smart feature that works inconsistently was unacceptable.

Love this product. I like the idea of being able to unlock my door just by walking or driving up to the house. Works very well.

Love the lock. Great to have the door open as I approach it. Also like that I can check if the door is locked from the bedroom.

I love the fact that you can have the lock "Auto-Lock" itself. Love it when I approach the door, it unlocks by itself!

Haven't had any issues so far, I would recommend on getting the extender because it doesn't come with the August.

Purchased Lock, Keypad and Connect - installed at my vacation home and within 3 days got an email from the system saying "batteries were at 20%" (yes - brand new batteries). unfortunately I was 350 miles away and could not travel back there to change the batteries... Then a few days later said 5%... then a few days later - back to 20%?? Nobody was there during this time so it was not in use so not sure how it went from 5% - back to 20%. The owner app sometimes shows battery status, sometimes doesn't - very inconsistent. Purchased to use with a vacation home rental - August has two user modes. The first concept is to issue codes to guests that would be activated only during their contracted stay and can be used with their smartphone - however they want those guests to sign up for an account with August - including sending in a picture of themselves (CREEPY). The second method does not expire and only allows keypad use (no smartphone app) - so if you wanted to use this for guests - you have to remember to activate and deactivate. The August lock is HUGE on the door - very unattractive and does not come in brass color (but ironically is available in RED)?? The "Connect" unit - required to use the August lock via internet must be plugged into an electrical outlet within 15 ft. When I plugged in 10 ft away - it says the signal was too weak.. had to plug it in within 6 ft of the door and still the signal was not great. it was plugged in with nothing inbetween the "Connect" and the Lock - not around a corner or through a lead lined wall. I'd rate Customer support average. 2 - 3 days to respond. Might have been able to get over the giant silver lock on the back of the door - but with all the other issues - RETURNED IT!! Cool concept - too bad they didn't work out the bugs before offering a premium priced product. Maybe Version 2 (assuming they make one) will be smaller and have the bugs worked out.

You keep you keyed cylinder and replace thumb latch. It works good most of the time. Have problems with opening auto when arriving home if there is a thunder storm. Works ok with HomeKit. Could be better.

Works as advertised. Can't do a full review as I am waiting to install the camera and keypad, but so far it is as advertised.

Bought this on a price drop. Glad I did. Wife loves the features. I like that we kept the original keyed lock.

Love the functionality of this product...works best with the adapter and having the keypad is probably a must.

I love that I can have my door opened without pulling out a key and give access to others to enter my home.

So the Idea Is there. Has many flaws. I use this with home kit, Its awesome you can set a "perimeter" so when you get close to your house it unlocks automatically. Which is awesome, When and if it works.

It's super cool, I don't need my keys anymore. It open the door when I'm nearby

The lock is safe and saves a lot of time. It works well with my Apple Watch and is everything that I expected
