Adds another way to get in the house - a great addition

My phone died - good thing I had the key pad. Perfect!!!!

The door key pad is good advice for kid's and family.

Love it. It works perfect with the whole august line up

it is, in fact, grey and rectangular and comes packaged in a box. When I open it and try it out, I may find out more about it, but for now, that's all I have.

I recently added on the Smart Keypad to my August (1st gen) lock and am glad I did so. It is a simple design and is well made. One feature that isn't really mentioned on the August website was that you can trigger the lock to lock by pressing the August icon on the bottom of the keypad. This is very convenient when leaving the house quickly. I have used the emergency code multiple times now in a pinch and it has worked flawlessly. The iOS app is a work in progress, but I am not going to ding the product for that. August has been great to update the app in regular intervals so I am sure it will improve. Definitely worth it if you have a use for it.

This is the worse electronic product I have ever owned. The customer service from August is horrible too. Wait for a product from company with a proven record like Yale.

This item works when it wants to. There is no rhyme or reason to when it will work. Better off getting a Kwikset lock with keyfobs!

This product does not work well. It only intermittently works with my August smart lock. I will be returning it.

I had put installed the keypad with the August lock. Both products failed. Keypad seems to go to sleep for ever. Test batteries, all seem to be full power. Looks like the hardware (electronics) and or design is bad.. May be the software as well. Tried to return to best buy, they told be tough luck..call the manufacturer.. , I took this out and installed a Kwikset keypad lock, works perfect..! Please don't buy this product or ANY AUGUST product!!

I purchased the entire August lock system. Worked great for first thirty days. Then it lost its mind. I purchased it to use for Airbnb. The keypad malfunctioned first, closely followed by the lock opening and closing every two minutes all by itself. Total disaster. Customer service is useless.

Inexpensive quality. Installed on a small commercial building. None of the tenants could figure it out.

So I bought three of these to go with three August locks. The locks never worked. Neither did the keypads. A complete waste of money replaced with similarly priced but better nest locks.

We did not like this product. Needs to be thinner and it took to long to activate the lock. We put our old lock with the keypad built in back in operation.

I really wanted this thing to work, but never got it to connect. I have found the August line to be hit or miss.

Keypad worked for one day. You must reconnect the unit every few days for it to work. I removed it and just use the lock.

Maybe I’ll eventually try again but returned this one

I really like this keypad. I own two August Smartlocks, two keypads, and the wifi bridge. It's easy to install, easy to setup, and in my opinion worth the price. I like the feature where you can press the red button on the way out of the house and it will immediately lock the door. The battery life is *just ok.* I think mine lasted about 4 months or so. The app alerted me that batteries were low. The one issue I have is that you can't add a PIN number to a user remotely, you have to add it from the app when within range of the device. This is the case even if you have the WiFi bridge.

When I saw that these keypads were available, I was delighted. You see, I enjoy going for runs and I don't generally bring along my phone or keys. Pros: - The keypad works. That's to say, it will reliably lock and unlock the August device. - It allows you to lock the door by simply pressing a single button, which is super convenient when leaving the house. - It lights up when inputting a code, so it's easy to use at night. Cons: - Unfortunately short battery life. Their website claims you can get three months of battery life from a set of AAA batteries, but I've only been able to get 2.5 weeks on a set of alkalines, 5 weeks on a set of lithium batteries and 3 days on a set of Eneloop rechargeable batteries. This is with power saver mode on and during the warmer months of the year. I fear that battery life will suffer significantly when it gets colder out. Even worse, you will receive no warning email or notification that your batteries are low in the keypad. It will simply not function one morning. - While you can easily customize access parameters (times and days) of users of the app, you cannot do the same for those who are given a keypad code. Keypad code holders either have access all the time or they don't have it at all, which seems like an unusual feature to omit. - Users in the app can view and change other users' keypad codes. I can see other household members' codes and they can see mine. This makes the log of who is coming and going potentially unreliable. Honestly, the keypad seems like a beta product. The software seems unfinished and the battery life issue makes this product difficult to recommend at a whopping $80. If you really want a keypad to work with your August lock, this is your one and only option. However, if you're on the fence about it I'd pass.
