The August Smart Keypad is fantastic! The simple ability to assign personalized codes to different people is a genius idea. It takes away them having to have the app or any idea of what's going on inside the door. It's better than giving people a house key cause there's no chance of them losing it. Obviously the August Lock itself make this possible, but the addition of the Keypad let's me expand how I can let people come to my place. For people coming in from out of town and me not being home, I don't have to let them in! I just set up a code of their choosing for them and they get access. The setup was physically easy. I didn't want to have to drill into the doorframe so the adhesive backing was perfect for me. Literally just stuck it on the frame with zero mess. I recommend people to take the backing off and take the pull tabs out of the batteries before fixing it to the wall. I fixed it to the wall and then saw the battery part. It easily came off the wall for me to get to the batteries, so there was no issue with that. Once set up with my Smart Lock I started to make codes for myself and roommates. All very simple and easy to follow instructions. Overall love the product! The design from taking it out of the box to how it looks on the wall is beautiful. Easily integrated with my already in use Smart Lock and definitely worth it for the sharing of door access ability. Another winner for August!

First of all, I want to put my review in context. I bought this for use in a house with very ornate/expensive hardware on the doors, so I was focused on how to install the various products, keypad, Doorbell-cam and smart lock without replacing any of my existing hardware. It was not practical to use the smart lock on our front door as it did not have a traditional deadbolt, but we did find the Smart-Lock and keypad a perfect fit for our backdoor. It is a great solution if we forget our key, or need to have a neighbor come in and feed the cat. I find the design very appealing: hi-tech but minimalist, and so far it has operated flawlessly in that capacity.

The keypad is an extremely useful addition to my August lock! The installation was quick and easy. I opted to use the adhesive strip to fasten my keypad to the wall and it seems to be secure months later. I love the freedom of not having to have a key on me or having to access the app to get in and out the door quickly. Additionally, the ability to set new codes for family, friends, delivery people, etc. makes the keypad convenient while still keeping my home safe. The keypad made my August Smart Lock an even more worthwhile purchase and added an additional convenience!

I have the Smart Lock, Keypad, and Connect. The products are easy to install. I like the phone-less convenience of the Keypad and the ability to give different codes to family members, guests or neighbors keeping an eye on the house while we are away. Connect allows me to remotely give access and track ins and outs. I highly recommend these products

I have a Gen 1 August Smart Lock and added they keypad because I have it set for auto lock and didn't want to lock myself outside because it locked and I didn't have my keys or phone on me. This thing works great and I can assign a passcode to my friends/family that don't have smartphones or don't want to create an account to enter my home. I also purchased the door bell that they are releasing soon too.

We live in a highrise apartment building with our four children and there is continual coming and going. All the people who use the front door have the August lock app installed, so you may wonder why we would want the keypad. We got it mainly because we want to use the autolock feature of the smartlock and that might leave the kids locked out if they forget their phones. But it’s been much more useful than that. Our door is always locked, so the keypad is an awesome backup for quick phoneless entry. We also now realize that some of our kids (and guests) prefer to use the keypad over their phones. Each person has their own access code, which is great for keeping track of who is using the lock and when. And, it works incredibly well, flawlessly. The door unlocks immediately when the numbers are keyed in.

Added one of these to one of my HomeKit locks, so far working like a charm. Haven't had anything out of the ordinary to crop up, setup and install was quick and a breeze. As for features, it's been great assigning a different code to each family member, app does a great job helping you set that up and keep track of whose opened/locked the door with it. Temp codes work like a dream as well. One of my favorite features is using the one button lock when leaving to walk the dog. It has delivered everything it advertised.

So my simple review is that this smart lock just didn't work with my app or lock. I installed it, and the app recognized it (let me set pins for friends and basically just knew the keypad was there) but It simply didn't work. I entered my pin and my girlfriend entered hers and neither worked. It was flashing like it was waiting to be paired (remember, the app noticed the keypad and i paired it successfully) and the next morning the battery needed to be changed because it was constantly flashing like it wasn't paired... but the app thought it was. I like the idea of this product and that's why I gave it it's second star, but I wouldn't waist your time or money at least at this point. Oh and physical set up was very easy. It just didn't work lol

This guy is awesome. It feels solid in the hand, and the button travel is just right. A breeze to set up and really straight forward to use - just enter the code you've chosen, press the August logo and bam, door unlocked. It's easy to install too. Since it's wireless, it only requires two small drill holes. I suppose you could even use some strong double sided adhesive if you felt comfortable doing so. Great for letting people in "remotely," and secure because you can change the code at anytime.

I just got my new August keypad and it was pretty easy to set up. I had an option in my door lock settings of the app to add a keypad. The enrollment went smooth and the addition of multiple passwords was easy. We have a pet sitter tat we use regularly and the option to grant and remove code access is just what we needed. Nice Product. It added right on to the existing mounting plate my door bell camera is using so it really looks good on the outside wall.

This is an extremely useful addition. I use it for Airbnb and it is so much less confusing for guests than the app. Even better is that Airbnb automatically generates a code for new guests as soon as they register saving me a massive amount of time and communication. As an Airbnb host it is an indespensible tool. The downside is the battery life. It runs out quick ladies and gentlemen. The average life is about two weeks. It fluctuates based on temperature. During the summer months it can last as long as 6 weeks. On especially cold days it can run out in 72 hours. I really wish they’d make a hard wire option or improve the battery life so that it lasts for at least 3 months.

All of the negative comments are true. Keypad is cheap plastic, battery life very short and no notification that batteries are getting low, buttons are small so someone with nails or even large hand may have difficulty pushing the correct numbers, lag between entering code and lock opening, not intuitive, stops working at times. Most important point -- I am on my third keypad in 10 months. They just stop working. Change the batteries nd nothing - no light, nothing. After spending all the money on the lock, the wifi connection and the keypad now 3 times the sunk investment makes it tough to change. However, that is what we are looking to do since having a keypad that just stops working is horrible when we have people coming to our home or even we are left standing in the freezing cold fumbling for our phone to get in via the app.

I use this on my garage entry way. It is a good product. I would say that it is a must have for the August lock system. Especially if you have it on auto lock and forget about your cell phone in the house, you have a pin code and can easily reenter with no problems.

Though I love my August Lock, it's hard for my son to open it, since my son is very young and he does not have his phone, yet. By using this keypad, I could solve my problem. Also, sometime I leave my phone inside and lock the door, but I don't need to worry.

I was really excited to get this system hooked up. We switched our office to the August system so we could monitor who comes and goes. But the keypad NEVER works we are always having problems. Have only had it for a little over a week and replaced the batteries twice! Have been trying to contact August but never get a response. Again this system would be great if it worked when you need it!

This is an expensive accessory to an already expensive lock. Unfortunately it only last about a year and a day despite that. Buy any other smart lock. This product is frustrating and has poor Support.

After trying valiantly to get this product to work correctly, we have had it. Batteries need to be changed 1-2x/month, customer support is not very helpful and app is unstable.

THe keyap worked exept for the backlight coming on when motion is detected which I require being visually impaired when entering through a dark garage. 4 phone calls with August support and lots of maneuveing through the app and uploading videos and I still didn't get a committment to replace the device or refund my money. Pretty sorry support.

Stopped working after 90 days. August has no phone or chat support. The only thing you can do is send an email and hope they respond.
