    I actually like August. It does work when you are entering the house. I have it set for 6 People high traffic house hold and it has failed a few times. Overall i enjoy the device and it is much better then pulling out keys.

    EASY TO INSTALL + ELEGANT DESIGN + WORKS SEAMLESS

    It took minutes to install the Smart Lock, and get it up and running for our new home! This is one of the most elegant electronic items in our house.. right up there with my iMac and iPhone. The lock is easy to use via the phone, and works even by passing verbal instructions to Siri. The best part is that its also compatible with my Apple Watch if I ever have to leave the house for a run without my iPhone in hand. Will be great to see ADT or Comcast collaborate with August to offer the perfect home security solution of the future!

    Don't buy unless you want to be left outside

    I knew that eventually I would have to change the batteries but they have a problem in their system There should be an alarm that turn off when your batteries turn 25% but it is not working on all the cases So I left my house and couldn't get in later because the batteries where partially dead I spoke to August asking for a refund, they said the only way to get a refund is from the seller, I explain them that Best Buy won't change a product after 4 months, they didn't care Please don't buy this product you are taking the risk to be left out and they won't return your money Ther phone service is gentle but they won't return your money

      Sorry to hear of your issues. It looks like our support team filed a bug for your issue of not getting the 25% alert. We have also added in a second layer alert of sending an email so you don't have to be in the app to see the alert.

    Better off without connect

    I really like this product out of the box. It really does what it is supposed to. It auto locks without problems. It also unlocks as long as settings are done on your phone properly. The only thing that's offputing is the wifi option. If you are thinking about the August connect option make sure that your wifi signal is flawless. Also make sure you have a nearby electrical outlet (15 ft. Or less). If you want HomeKit connectivity wait for the second gen.

    This is a great addition to any home automation. The ease of installation was surprisingly simple and the instructions were very easy to follow and understand. Setting the lock up with my smartphone was a snap and allowing a guest into my home with there smartphone was both amusing and amazing (especially to the guest). Definitely makes it easy to carry in all the groceries at once or a larger purchase since the door will automatically unlock when I get close enough to it. This is one lock i have already recommended to my friends whom both live in an apartment and who own there home. Myself living in an apartment this smartlock was the best option since it doesn't require the removal or replacement of the apartment installed deadbolt.

    Starting off with impressive packaging and clear instructions, I was further impressed with the stylish look and high quality feel of the smart lock itself. Installation was very simple and had it up and running in around 10 minutes. The app works well and I am enjoying the auto unlock feature. Overall a great product!

    I love not using keys

    I have had my August installed for several months and I love it. I get home with an arm load of bags and the baby and the door unlocks as I walk up - no digging for keys. It was a bit slow at first, but I have seen an improvement in speed over the last few months. I have already told my friends and family about it - even used my friends to feed her dog last weekend while she was away.

    Looks great, works great. Love being able to see who went in/out of the house and giving/taking away keys. Been super helpful when relatives or the appliance repair people visit. Wife also loves the auto unlock feature which opens the door automatically. I forget to lock the door sometimes so she likes that August does that too. Loved the product and would recommend it.

    I've supported this product when it first started out on crowd funding platform. I've had it for awhile now and the only thing I do is replace the batteries about once a year. Simple to install and a great product.

    this lock's keyless design is stupid because you don't even have a backup plan when battery's dead. think about it, when you get back from vacation and find out the lock's battery is dead, what are you gonna to do?

    This is the worst smart home equipment I have used in my house. The lock never connects to the app in a timely manner. Yesterday the app was trying to connect to the lock for 15 minutes. Not to mention the Remote Access feature doesn't work half the time either. Another issue I've had is the lock never fully locks the door. I've re-calibrated the lock almost everyday and all it does is chirp because it doesn't lock. I am really disappointed in this lock even though it had so many great reviews. I give up on it. After using it for 3 weeks I will need to return it before I smash it on the sidewalk.

    This lock does not open the door as you approach as advertised. Sometimes it does...but mostly it does not. If I have to reach for my iPhone to turn the app on in order to unlock the door, then I may as well just use a key. If you want all the extras then you'll need an extra plug-in wifi adapter that they don't mention on the box. Don't waste your time with this one, go directly to a wifi lock that actually works.

    Works Ok but needs more work

    Bought and just installed the August Smart Lock. App needs more work or bug fixes. Already got locked out once and could not get in. Auto Unlock has failed to work. Keypad keeps losing connection and have called support twice only to have locked reset twice and loose all setup. Will wait and try for a few days otherwise will replace with old lock again.

    I was worried about the installation but this surprisingly easy and the instructions were very clear. Setting the lock up with my smartphone and allowing a guest into my home was much easier than exchanging keys. Overall works like a charm. This smart lock the best option for renters since it doesn't require the removal or replacement of the landlord's lock. Strong recommend.

    No phone support??? And no Connect in stores!

    So far VERY unimpressed. I buy this expensive lock only to find out that I cannot use it with WIFI without its accessory Connect thing. Which Best Buy doesn't sell!!! Not in store. So I have to wait DAYS to finish off installation. But worse still ... if you have an issue with the **** lock, there is NO phone support!

Connect offers the additional feature of being able to connect to your August Smart Lock from away from your home.     I got the smart Lock as well as the keypad and the doorbell cam together.... Pretty nifty things. As far as the Smart Lock goes I use it to let the cleaners in when I am not home. It also makes it easier when I am in a rush running out of the door in the mornings. No need to keep looking for keys ! I like it.

    I tried one of these about 2 months ago and was extremely frustrated so I tried another brand which was worse. I gave this one another try and I have to say I am VERY pleased. Works exactly as advertised. My only issue (and it is small) is sometime there is a lag between pushing the button and when it actually unlocks. A very minor issue though
